Summerset furniture is still the best for me. I wish they would release Summerset structural pieces. Walls with open windows. Walls with doors. The GIANT windows from Psijic house (but transparent).
I love Summerset. I love the architecture and the world design. It’s the reason I really got into ESO. I made a high elf one day and wanted to do the area that was for her and I started Summerset and didn’t stop until I 100% that zone. I’m a relatively new ESO player, but I can definitely agree with pretty much everything. Although, I would put high isle higher mainly because I find myself going there for deconstructing. Having the free room, bank, and crafting area all really close to the way shrine is so convenient… I also really like tales of tribute. I do it everyday. I like having that little break where I don’t have to think about enemies and I’m just playing a card game and traveling across Tamriel. I would probably rank the five chapters I’ve actually played: Summerset, Greymoor, Necrom, High Isle, and Morrowind.
I loved elsweyr, probably that year i played the most and had thr bewt time. My favorite chapter by far tho is greymore the story and world loot was so damn good i really enjoyed it.
Concerning Elsweyr... a couple things that could bring it up in your rankings... 1. The free house! The house, and the unlockable rooms (and the methods of unlocking them) are very, very cool. I originally dove into Elsweyr for the free house. Once I was there I ended up 100% both zones. 2. All of the free unlockables you can get for houses. There are quite a few unique ones. Some music items that play music upon interaction, a joke telling Khajit spirit, and some amazing doors/altars/pools/lights.
Sadly I agree about the Necro. I mostly mained necromancer. It didnt feel great to play with the mandatory blastbones rotation, and felt handicapped in general. It also doesnt really feel like a "gravelord" type of class. The boneyard, bone colossus, and most summons appear in a flash and are gone. It doesnt really convey themes of everlasting undeath/decay at all. And the skull spammable is just plain cheesy looking.
I enjoyed your list. On the purely utility criteria I would have placed Summerset a bit lower but it was a useful list as reminder of what we received in each chapter and an interesting approach to ranking the chapters.
Can't really quibble too much with the list, though I probably would put Summerset maybe one spot lower. Reasons: I hate geysers because there aren't enough people doing them. Since I can't solo them I end up waiting too much for others to show up. Psijic Order has a pretty good story but I find the actual guild doesn't add much to the game except some treasure portals that are basically just an occasional extra treasure chest. Elsweyr I would put a bit higher just because I find the Khajiit to be quite entertaining. Also Cadwell is part of the zone story. Plus there is a great free house and Rimmen makes a convenient hub city for doing your crafting dailies. Gold Road is a bit of a mixed bag so far. Story is well written but the zone story gets a bit tedious. Scribing may turn out to be the best thing since sliced bread but the quest line is VERY tedious. It's nice that most unlocks are account wide though.
If you got a pve build like my templar, slimecraw shoulder, oakensoul ring, sergeant mail, deadly strike (bloodthirsty jewelry + weapon & spell damage, divine armor + max magicka, precise lightningstaff + flame damage), they're pretty easy to do solo (champions points in thautmaturge, wrathful strikes, master at arms, deadly aim or ironclad for the blue tree, boundless vitality, rejuvenation, fortified and either strategic reserve or spell siphoning for the red tree)
@@dovahkiin9413 I run a pretty similar one bar templar build except I haven't got around to farming sergeant's mail yet. But I guess I'm just not good at the stuff that works well against seafood. Though I haven't tried one since I got Bastien and Isobel tanked up properly.
If Elsweyr is the worst then it says a lot about the quality of releases from ZOS, I love all of them and broadly agree with your rankings Jake. I think Gold Road will be the most controversial mostly because I've seen more people whining about it being small, personally I loved it and can't wait to see additions to scribing.
If they add new companions, they should also add crafting and upgrades of companion gears cause im damn near broke paying for those. For such important items should not depend on rng drops. And the armorer merchants sell white quality gears. Why?
I also hope they add QOL to companions instead of just adding more companions. When we get all the classes on companions they should update their AI, add some features that add quality to the system instead of quantity. They can even add some new bonuses for each companion to choose which is active on him (or when you gain it)
You can't compare greymoor mythics with mythics from later chapters. Also ive always suspected Jake to be a high elf supremacist. Psijic portals are good to farm but thats all that guild amounts to, really. Enjoy your copy of "pocket rules for kick the Khajit", Jake.
Just some thoughts Elsweyr I think has one of the cooler stories, my favorite trial…the necro was great when it came out. The bad thing is traversing with the darn mountains and inconvenient wayshrines for dragon farming (fixed in Southern) Summerset is the prettiest and my favorite story - also a good QUiCK trial which is nice. I hate psijic grinding For,me High Isle would be last - the story was dumb with an obvious twist bad guy. Tales of Tribute sucks, the world event doesn’t have anything unique dropping other then a motif - the only saving grace is VDSR is probably the best for trial sets that are useful
Dragons were a great addition but Summerset by far the best expansion. I don't know if people remember the hype it had and the amazing launch. The area was flooded with people and everyone all over the map looking for the psygic portals and such. It was amazing. The community as a whole was doing well. All went to shit soon after with all the game mechanic changes and nerfs on nerfs.
I wouldn't have put Elseweyre last. Although atm necro is having issues looking good there's been plenty of information about buffs its getting in the next update. Also Sunspire has more sets worth farming than Saniities Edge or Kiynes Agis. In my opinion Blackwood belongs in last place because although Rockgrove has some good sets and I run around by myself quite a bit, I don't care about using companions. They're alright for newer players I guess who feel they need the help while solo but because of scaling they're completely unnecessary. Rather than giving players other ways to get some of the useful buffs the companions can give, you have to let this exp leech follow you round and then remember not to harvest mushrooms for example. Then there's the gear for them. Maybe if they made a companion gear crafting station making builds for them would be more viable. After Tribute they were the worst addition to the game. I agree that Summerset was probably overall the best. I'd put Necrom in 2 for the addition of IA and the Arcanist as well as the fact it looks good and it's navigation isn't as messed up as some other zones where you'll follow a path to get somewhere only to find the way to the point you were trying to reach was in the opposite direction up this hill and circle back. 3rd I'd say is Gold Road even though they made the new prince look awful in appearance, Scribing is a very good feature that's been wanted for years. 4th would be Western Skyrim simply for scrying and 5th Elseweyre because necro is getting buffed, the trial sets are good and the main quest gave away not the greatest but a free home after completion.
Technicallyyyy Necrom didn’t add IA that was a free Q4 update - I didn’t include any Q4 updates in this round. That free Elswyr home also requires eso plus or southern Elswyr which made this ranking tricky
Couldn't help myself. I'll take death dealers fete, gaze of sithus, and wading kilt (mainly death dealers, tho) over sea serpents and (current )oakensoul any day.
Jake Elsweyr is number 8 I'm disappointed in fact my day has been ruined because you were a philistine. I'm just appauled, mortified, shocked and suprised enough where I'm running out of applicable words that aren't obscure from my thesaurus.
I don't like the new idea of getting only one zone and story with each chapter. Necrom was half a story, and Gold Road was the finale of Necrom's story stretched to be this year's content.
I noted Summerset story was great morrowinds was good interacting with Vivec and a few other quick notes - sorry I Shouldve noted it was a smaller point
To date, I think Morrowind and Elsewyr tie for my top spot. Top mention for Clockwork City. High Isle gets a bad rap, it’s not as bad as it’s made out to be. Worst so far Gold Road. Underwhelming and flat really didn’t keep my interest at all.

You broke my heart with elsweyr😔
same. but well personal taste i guess. I love it, but i am also Khajiit player and fan.

Heck, High Isle's companions are still consistently rated as the most liked companions. Especially Ember
Agreed!
Isobel was first priority on all new toons. After unlocking Continuous Attack of course...
Isobel is still my go to tank and she is a fun gay girl like me heh
Ember is the best! Never get tired of hearing her quips.

That free house does require southern E tho 👀
@@Official_JakeClips oh I group them together in my brain.
@@mufasafalldown8401 I see what you mean! It’s just technically those Q4 updates either require eso plus/dlc or are free and the chapters are separate

Elsweyr was one of my favorite, dragons nuff said.
Yea, I actually enjoyed it a lot more than Summerset. I think people are just being nostalgic.
high isle companions and tales of tribute are 10/10... literal best expansion. AND oakensoul ring!!!#2 for gold road and scribing easily.
High isle should go way higher for the trailer alone, I think the trailer outgrew even the elder scrolls community as being such a badass combat scene

Greymoor should of been the chapter to add the necromancer fits way better

Forgive me
Jake!!! High Isle is S tier number 1, Tales of Tribute!!!!! is the best aspect of this MMO, so wrong on rankings!!!
high isle and morrowind are my favorites and I dont really understand the complaining about stories being to long lol
Sometimes the quests become repetitive is the compliant

I tried to fight a couple dragons and got wrecked.
You need a group
You tried to fight a 40 mil health demigod boss alone?💀
Yeah i figured that out really quick lol
I like Blackwood tho
Proceeds to not talk about the stories.
