That was really cool to see them use lightsabers! But why didn't the EMP stop the lightsabers or R2?
Since the EMP was localized to the arena, it likely didn't reach far enough to short out Artoo, who was in Grakkus's private rooms. And it's possible that the sabers' crystals were unaffected by the EMP. But considering that Grakkus's robotic legs were also unaffected, it's possible the EMP was specifically designed not to affect certain electronics, because if they shorted out his legs it would leave him defenseless. If the EMP was modified not to affect his legs, it may have accidentally (or intentionally) also ended up not affecting lightsabers.
@@StarWarsAudioComics I don't think you can "program" an EMP to only affect certain things. It just simply overloads electronics and breaks them. However, lightsabers and blaster guns are technologically unlikely at best also, so I'll give it a pass. lol
@@escott1981 Well lightsabers are in metal casing which could form a Faraday's cage to protect the components inside from EMPs. Or maybe they don't have any EMP sensitive components

But these comics are so scattered, and Han and Luke are constantly made to look like CHUMPS. Sound familiar? Jesus...the first 7 issues were really good tho

This comic is set before Dengar even shows up in Empire Strikes Back, so he survived this explosion, and has a good reason for wanting to join the hunt for the Falcon in Empire.
