I'm glad you mentioned that STC and NMOT are not the same thing. It's a problem that many consumers don't seem to understand. The STC rating often doesn't happen in real life because those ratings, like you said, are measured inside a lab with perfect conditions.
Hi Dale, just heard from our installer that REC Alpha Pure 420 KW panels are no longer being manufactured. Fact or fiction? Also spoke to their competitor and they said that the price is going up as of Aug 1 ‘24 but still very much available. Do you have any insight on that? Thanks a million on any info.
@@fleurdelis1982 I haven’t heard of any changes from REC. The Alpha Pure 2 is a gap panel to the RX and was replacing the first generation Alpha Pure. The RX is expected to ship later this year, and will be very powerful at around 460-watts. Availability of products varies from location to location and distribution channels. Some distributors need to go through inventory before bringing in new modules. Price increases for modules could occur but not sure yet there is a lot of inventory in the market right now, making it a great time to buy.
I am not a superfan of Maxeon panels. I'm not saying they're bad or anything, but I believe they are a bit overpriced. Once again, that's just my opinion. It does seem like they may be less susceptible to microcracks just by the videos you're showing.
I have heard good things about them - as I plan my solar project now I am looking at all the different brands and specs and such - one thing I don't like is that Maxeon does not have any NMOT rating anywhere I can find. Am I supposed to just believe they are the best most efficienct panels when they don't want the public to know the specs to be able to do an adequate comparison??? This alone keeps me from even considering Maxeon

Thank you! I appreciate your support
Thanks for the video, Just ordered 16 bifacial q cell 485s
I appreciate the info, I needed this going into purchasing my first panels next month or June.
Glad it was helpful!
Great info! Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Getting q tron 33 panels of qcell 420w next month can't wait. Th3n will get the qcell battery when there's comes out
This made me realize the tariffs US has Chinese panels. China is now at 600-700w panels at almost half the cost.
What are the best Chinese solar panels?
Be mindful of cheap panels when it comes to durability.
@@renstillmann they are actually superior in quality and power, the US can't compete
@@nunyabizz50 I am actually looking at Ultra X Series from suntech. ~700 Watt panels. From China 😛
@@nunyabizz50it’s because they use slave labor and dont care about any type of regulation. My money is going back to American factories with Qcells
Qcells have already released the Q.tron panel and it's better in all the specifications, it's still slightly behind REC and Maxeon but it's cheaper.
Maxeon 7 best Modul
Thanks so much... have you ever reviewed Leapton panesls, or have any opinion?
There are a lot of solar panels in the world, this is one we have not reviewed.
How's the price with the Tesla powerwall 3?
What is the physical size of an REC405AA panel, LxWxthickness?
Wouldn't it make more sense to compare the REC pure alpha 410 since it more closely matches the output of the "venerable" maxeon?

What is the current lead time in getting REC 405 panels? Extended or there is inventory available already in the US?
We have plenty in stock, have not experienced any shortages with REC panels.
Looks like I'll never be able to afford solar.

Why didn’t you do the price of the panels by themselves I wanted to know price per watt on the panel alone
We don't sell by PPW we do almost everything by COGS.
