Filipino Sourdough Empanadas (Baked) - Everyday Jane

- These are my sourdough filipino empanadas filled with beef and veggies. The sourdough brings such a yummy flavour to the soft and flakey exterior. There is some planning involved in making these empanadas but it sure is worth it! I recommend making a double batch and freezing some for future enjoyment. Trust me, you'll thank yourself! The filling makes more than you need for 1 recipe, so we typically eat the rest on some fresh cooked rice.
Dough:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt (1/2 if you are using salted butter)
3 tbsp sugar - yes, TBSP!
1/2 cup butter, cubed and cold
1 cup fed sourdough starter
1 egg
1 tbsp olive oil
1-2 tbsp milk or water, as needed
Filling:
500g ground beef
1 medium onion
4 cloves garlic
2 tbsp tomato paste
3 small potatoes (1 cup, diced)
1 carrot (1/2 cup, diced)
1/2 cup frozen peas
1/4 cup raisins, optional
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
salt to taste

This is a great production piece. Great lighting, good audio. I'm sorry this video didn't get as much of traction as it should. Maybe people thought it's too long at 14 minutes. Maybe at 8 - 10 minutes would be preferable algorithm wise
