I hate the transmission dipstick! It’s so clean it’s hard to see!
I change all 3 before every riding season! Yeah it’s overkill but just knowing it’s clean every year!!

Have you ever thought about using the 75-140 gear oil in the transmission? I’ve thought about it but still haven’t!

Never really thought about the gear oil thing. I’ve always just used the 20W50 Amsoil Trans fluid. Is it supposed to make a big difference?
@@Gimps_Garage I use the same, I’ve seen you tube videos that they’ve put it in and the shifts are even better?!
I’ll just stick to the regular Amsoil that I’ve always used!!
@@kevincarnes7598 from what I can tell from quick glance. The 75W140 is for big bored builds. 135” +. Anything under 124”. I think a 20w50 will suffice. Tbh
Whoever at Harley designed the transmission dipstick definitely wanted to make it hard to read. For one I hate needing to use an Allen socket. Two - if it’s hot you need to wear gloves, and then it’s hard to hold because the head is so freakin small. Lastly being chrome clean synthetic oil is nearly impossible to read. I’m really considering just gluing a 3/8 socket in the head.

Amsoil?
Yessir. That’s normally my go to oil of choice. But honestly. They’re all so similair. I don’t think it really matters. I just feel my bike runs slightly cooler with the Amsoil. That might be psychosomatic tho.
@@Gimps_Garage agreed. But I feel Amsoil tends to run a little cooler than others. Especially conventional.
