For this series, I have no reason to hesitate, this is The One. I rode it for several years end seventies and eighties for many thousands of km's. Lovely bike for commuting and long holiday rides. Alps and Pyrenees no problem at all. Exactly what you are doing: good periodical maintenance, good sparks, fuel and the right oil! That's it. Have fun!
I had one of those I put the smaller S handle bars on it What a sweet ride I had a 2004 1150rt The 75/5 is a much better ride ❤️ Better made No cheap Chinese plastic parts Easy to do maintenance
This episode brings back great memories the ‘73 1/2 750 I purchased in ‘75. It had 9,800 miles on it and 245,000 when I sold it in 1977. I toured all over North America and it never let me down, absolutely the best motorcycle I have ever owned. I bought a brand new ‘77 R100S and loved it too, but that ‘73 long frame was a real beauty.
Great video! She has natural talent and quick learner! My favorite is my BMW HP2 Sport, waited 15 yrs to get one. Your bike looked great and does sound like a sewing machine, lol! Great video guys!
Great video….really enjoyed her learning and getting the feel of the fasteners and tools. I have a 1976 R90/6 so a similar bike…..nice to see how you do these tasks. I hope she loves her bike!❤
I loved this episode. The BMW Gal is a keeper! And I love the bike. You asked what the viewers favorite BMW bike is. I’ve got a 92 K75, a 97 R1100RT, and I just picked up a 94 R1100RS a week ago. Right now I’m enjoying the RS.
OK, here is my story on this iconic bike. In 1972 I was working in France & Germany. I rode big mileages on a CB750. Lovely machine, it handled like a banana, was heavy, underpowered and underbraked, BUT, by God it was reliable. Push the button and you were guaranteed to arrive. We lived in London and I was off to Frankfurt, but my brother asked me to take his 75/5 as he wasn'r using it. Hopped on and off I went. Initial impressions were that was just OK. I made Karlsrue in a few hours, stopped for a rest and I had no discomfort. That Beemer was so comfortable. The suspension fore and aft ws matched, the C of G low, beautiful brakes and silky torque. The gauges were rubbish, but did it handle ! Know why? The tubing was oval. Within another oval. The Honda was a lovely machine, but nothing like the long distance cred of that BMW. I made my destination and got off the bike as if I'd never got on it. Thank you for reading
My current favourite and what I currently ride is a K75 RT. Did a little 10,000 mile trip with it this summer…it didn’t miss a beat. Enjoy your bike, it’s a beauty!
What a beautifully simple and elegant bike to service. Today's vehicles are so complex, finicky and plasticky in comparison. I'm sure your wife will enjoy it a lot.
I did all that stuff on my 1971 R75/5. The MOST IMPORTANT thing I learned along the way is to always use a torque wrench when retightening nuts and bolts. That aluminum is very unforgiving. Best motorcycle I ever had, until I got my 2017 R1200GS. Had 2 1/2 times more horsepower than the R75 had. 50 vs 125. What a monumental difference.
great job!! hi from Canada.....I am a newbie learning too.....fantastic channel..... dont forget your mandatory BMW neon lol............. favourite BMW is my R80rt!!
Lady, don´t worry about your mechanical skills or your marriage: you´re doing perfectly fine both ways as far as I can judge from the country where BMWs originate. Favorite BMW? I might be a little bit out of the ordinary, but I have always been convinced of the original "K" concept: the "Flying Brick". So I´d vote for a K75C as the indestructible and effortless daily ride AND a K1200RS for the sunday funday bits of taming the beast. Luckily I own both of them 😉
Furst! 🤣 I laughed pretty hard when she was taking that first fastener off the oil filter cover! "I'm not a trained mechanic" "your audience knows that".. ha! That's the charm.
My first Beemer ,it was a’73 model in lovely light blue.. Bought it to run an outfit - found it had oval tubes - sold it - then found oval clamps were available AAAARRRRRGGGHHHH!
@ yup, it was. First of the electric starts too. Never once started on the button AND that side action kickstart - OUCH! But a beauty. Had just sold my Thruxton Velo. Bought (S/H) an 850cc Mk2A Norton Commando Interstate, Black & Gold. Now THAT was a great bike.
I loved the /5 that I bought in 1984 so much, that it's still in my garage. That motorcycle is featured as the cover story on The Vintagent this week. ;-)
I really enjoyed this video!! My favorite BMW is the 05 GS 1200 which I own. I also do my own maintenance. I would also like to get a R75. Thanks again
Hello. I have a 1974 R90/6, White like your R75/5. I understood we shouldn't use synthetic oils. You are recommending synthetic. Can you help me understand why synthetic is ok to use?
Great video, can't wait to see this bike on the road. Congrats to your Ms too, for someone with no mechanic expertise, she's doing great. 👍👍
I enjoyed watching this so much! Fun to see you do things together. I also have an R75/5 SWB
Great to hear from a fellow R75/5 owner!
My favorite BMW is the one I'm lucky to have in my garage. Nice job working on your's.
Thank you! 😊

There is nothing cooler than a old Air Head BMW! I put over 300.000 miles on my old R80/7! I don't even know why I ever sold it 😢
This is awesome! Thank you. My favorite BMW is always my next one :)
Love that!
So you buy them, ruin them by trying to restore them and sell them on? So sad.
@@fuglbird What? lol. No.
My current favourite and what I currently ride is a K75 RT. Did a little 10,000 mile trip with it this summer…it didn’t miss a beat. Enjoy your bike, it’s a beauty!
I have only seen a few K bikes come through the garage. Wow, what a trip!
They are good winter bikes with their nice warm petrol tanks.
@@fuglbird yes indeed! I have a sheep skin that cradles the tank in summer!
What a beautifully simple and elegant bike to service. Today's vehicles are so complex, finicky and plasticky in comparison.

Great part, i enjoyed it. It was refreshing. Greetings to your nice wife and you too.
Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks for the tip! I bet that additional horsepower was a considerable change! 😮
great video! I think my favorite is my 2000 R1150GS, although I lost the top of one of my Jesse cans, so...sad.
Favorite: 1976 R75/6
great job!! hi from Canada.....I am a newbie learning too.....fantastic channel..... dont forget your mandatory BMW neon lol............. favourite BMW is my R80rt!!

Thank you! Kevin doesn't see many K bikes come through the garage, but they are pretty neat!
Furst! 🤣 I laughed pretty hard when she was taking that first fastener off the oil filter cover! "I'm not a trained mechanic" "your audience knows that".. ha! That's the charm.
She’s got a way of making things more interesting.
Beautiful pearls of the workshop... ... both two.
My first Beemer ,it was a’73 model in lovely light blue.. Bought it to run an outfit - found it had oval tubes - sold it - then found oval clamps were available AAAARRRRRGGGHHHH!
Light blue? I bet that was beautiful.

Favorite BMW is a r90/6. I have a ‘75 r90/6 and r9t
I have one of these in WI. When I get it back I’ll bring it over to you.
Mine has the long wheelbase.
I really enjoyed this video!!
My favorite BMW is the 05 GS 1200 which I own. I also do my own maintenance. I would also like to get a R75.
Thanks again
Those are great bikes! Kevin had one of those.
Outstanding video. Nice job!
Thank you!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
You got an apprentice. Nice. Now if it doesn't cause friction, it's a great thing!
The ending is the best!
Good looking black cylinder!
Thanks, I like the black cylinders too!
Great bike
Get a BMW so you get full use of your spaner and socket sets.
She sure did tighten those drain plugs up
🤣

Not often you see someone doing motorcycle maintenance while wearing a white top.
It definitely got dirty! 😂
Please remove the filler plugs before the drain plugs just in case
if the fill plug didn't come out, I would repair it. the oil still needs to be changed.
