That vegan ice-cream place sounds incredible. The pride of making things instead of buying what's available.
That's an appreciation of food I absolutely adore and is ingrained by the culture I grew up in.
Sadly there is no ice cream shop like that - I'm aware of - where I live.
Merle! Your vegan ice cream had an amazing texture. With the combo of cocoa fat and coconut oil and cashew fat it perfectly immulsified. I can tell just by sight that it had a striking similarity in texture to the dairy ice cream.
I 100 percent think you nailed this one and now I desperately want this it looks so good.

In Indonesia, we have 'es puter', using coconut milk to replace milk. Kinda salty. The texture is more like sorbet than creamy.

@@Wwetitanfan27 I buy it! They have it everywhere, from cheap supermarkets like lidl to artisanal shops, you just need to look for water based ("all'acqua") ice cream or just the vegan label. Most supermarkets have vegan/vegetarian corners where you can find all the plant bases foods in one spot, but it's mostly for processed foods like vegan meats etc. Look up menus in advance on the internet, buy vegan snacks at supermarkets for cheaper options and you should be okay :)
@@mel3824 I buy it, they have a chain store here called "pecora nera" (black sheep) that makes DELICIOUS water based ice cream. My go-to order is pistachios and dark chocolate. It's drool worthy
I've yet to find a vegan ice cream that gives me that same satisfaction as the dairy one. and believe me I have been looking, ever since I've discovered that I cannot have dairy. Aldi's coconut based chocolate peanut butter pints and raspberry bars are... almost there, but I have been absolutely dying for just nice, plain vanilla or chocolate. and either companies don't seem to make simple flavors or if they do, they taste NOTHING like the dairy version.
P.S. I HAVE tried Tallenti's chocolate sorbetto. its good. still not quite there.
For those without access to the good-good from shoppes, as grocery store ice cream goes, Magnum and Hagen Dazs non-dairy pops are great!

Maybe Goodful can show vegans with other dietary restrictions? It's really hard to be plant based with conditions like celiac, food allergies, medically necessary low carb or low fiber diet, etc.
i feel you. everytime she puts cashew in something as a necessary(as in cant be substituted) i just die a little because otherwise it looks amazing

Yes!! I'd love her to do a day's worth of vegan recipes that are also gluten free, nut-free, and soy-free. Or some other challenge for allergen-friendly vegan food.
Yes!!! I'm gluten intolerant and Pre-diabetic so no sugar and low carb for me
I feel this! I have an allergy to peppers and pepper derived spices, and it makes being vegan so much harder

@@halyoalex8942 haha, a lot of libraries are getting really modern. Mine has video game areas for teens, 3d printers, and laser cutters. I've never heard about checking out kitchen appliances though.

@miss tery That sounds great! For my husband and me it was more or less an overnight decision but we had to use the rest of our non vegan groceries.
@miss tery brave robot makes cow free ice cream. They use fermentation to recreate real dairy but from plants. It's pretty cool and it's a great vegan option for anyone who wants that dairy taste
@miss tery You have to start somewhere. :) A lot of the meat commercially available in supermarkets is also horrible quality and horrid for your health. So your health will thank you, too, if you cut down on meat. Especially red meat or heavily processed meat.

This looks amazing, I'd love to try it someday. In the meantime, you can make incredible ice cream at home just by mixing a can of sweetened condensed soy or coconut milk (available at most grocery stores) with whatever flavours you like (try cocoa powder, or a cup or two of smashed vegan honeycomb, or peppermint flavouring and dark chocolate chips - literally anything you can think of will work), then in a separate bowl whisk vegan cream (lentil-based cream works incredibly well, but any vegan cream that can be whipped is fine) until it forms stiff peaks, then take about half a cup of the whipped cream and mix it thoroughly into the condensed milk to make the next step easier, then gently pour the rest of the whipped cream on top of the condensed milk mixture, and GENTLY fold everything together until it's all properly mixed. Do not stir violently, use a gentle folding technique so you don't collapse the cream. Pour it into a container and freeze, no ice cream maker necessary. It'll be the creamiest, tastiest ice cream you've ever eaten, I promise you that.
That's amazing! It always makes me so happy when people can have the same tastes they love without harming animals/the planet. I wonder if I can make vegan ice cream with country crock plant cream...
Everything we do harms the planet. Vegan or not.
But almost nothing harms it as much as meat and dairy production.
@@paramere I think the best help we can give to our planet is to stop procreation. There's too many of us here already and the more people, the more harm it does to the environment.
@@paramere the single biggest thing we as individuals can do to help the planet is go vegan. ~85% of arable farming is used produce livestock feed, meaning a vegan lifestyle uses less land, not to mention the amount of water used in the dairy industries and the amount of methane given off by meat and dairy cows.
Also the word organic is a marketing ploy and has no real meaning as eggs coming from factory farmed hens could still have « organic » slapped on them.
@@k3qever413 Obviously. But you can't expect everyone to not want to have biological children. That's a far larger sacrifice than simply not consuming animal products and reducing your waste as much as you possibly can. Everyone should do as much as they can and if for you that means not having biological kids that's your choice. Where I live people have less than 2 kids on average so the population is already going down.

They also have lab grown dairy nowadays in certain products like brave robot ice cream. And its only whey and casein so lactose intolerants can still have it! The future is upon as haha

I have been vegan for 3 years now. And I love cheese. I have found many cheeses have become better. And many are very close to the real thing.
But during all this time I have never seen a Priest cheese. Or "Prästost" in swedish. It has a very stong aged taste as it is a very long-aged cheese. And I love it. I want to make my own but I don't know how.
Would you guys maybe know how to make it. Cause I'd love to learn how to make it. That's my suddgesttion for next video😄

I do a room temp ice cream from avocado + banana and add mango chunks for mango flavor. I chunk all of it - no blending. I don't like cold ice crema.

Short answer; no. Making ice cream can be good and I’ve had some good ones, but they’re not the same as dairy ice cream and they never will be.
I’ve done side-by-side comparisons and I’ve even been to ice cream shop where they sell, nondairy ice cream along with traditional ice cream.
The same thing is true with milk, alternatives, and other dairy alternatives. I think it’s wonderful that we have options for people who need it or for people who would like to be plant-based.
I think that vegan ice cream can be really good or really bad. There’s usually no in between.

This time of the year in the Midwest, paw paws are getting ready to ripen. Even more daring yet, American persimmons, staghorn sumac, concord grapes, black walnuts, cranberries and if you dare to imagine, American chestnuts are ripening here. ((Chinese chestnuts might be easier to find.)) Ice creams, stuffings, gravies, holiday loafs, etc.. Maybe you could even have Will.i.am check it out!
