Hey, former barista here. Don't do the ice thing, and here's why: When someone asks for no ice in, say, a pink drink, what you're getting is extra coconut milk without ice. We don't add extra strawberry acai, and if we do, you're going to get a different tasting drink every time since we use the lines on the cup to measure the ingredients, and it fills up perfectly to the rim once the ice is added.
Here's some more examples so you see what I mean:
An iced latte with no ice doesn't get more espresso, it gets more milk.
An iced coffee with cream and no ice will get extra cream, and maybe a bit more iced coffee, leading to a lot of back and forth until the cream ratio is correct.
A shaken espresso with no ice becomes a room temp latte, because there's nothing to shake the espresso with to cool it and foam it, and you're getting way more milk.
The ONLY thing this works for is if you want black iced coffee or cold brew, then you actually just get more of it and it will taste the same each time.
Tldr; If you order no ice, prepare for everything to taste inconsistent and watered down. It's what baristas are trained to do.

They do exist just not in every place. Alot of resteraunts in the uk have them. Nandos, wing Kings, pizza hut, wetherspoons for hot drinks and many more. Just depends where you go

I worked for Wendy's 10 years and I've had to go to different 9 different locations (I worked for 3 different ones but i had to go to the other 6 since they were short staffed) I've had to go out to and not one time did Amy of those locations turn down anyone for a frosty unless like I said it was legit broken or we were out of said product for whatever reason (now they run out more often cause of the shortage on everything)
I work at McDonald’s, and just today I took an order of someone ordering sweet tea. But the sweet tea here is pretty much half ice, so they ordered it with no ice so we have to fill the cup up all the way with just sweet tea. But then, they also ordered a cup of just ice, which is free.
And I assume they’re gonna use that ice for the sweet tea. So they maxed out the amount of sweet tea, and got ice. Genius.

At coffee places like Starbucks or caribou you don't get more coffee, but more creamer to make up for less ice. The coffees or other drinks are mixed with specific measurements
If you order an iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts and ask for light ice, they can't do that because there is no "light ice" button on the register.

My McDonald's does not do free refills anymore they took out the fountain and is now in the back where they work

I do the Wendy’s thing every night with my boys before or after we hoop. Here’s the extra bonus; if you get there at the night shift, they don’t even ask to see the proof in the drive thru so we get free frostys just by saying we have the key tags. Y’all take care lol
at dunkin’ if you try to get a latte or any espresso drink with no ice, they will not give you more because for those drinks they measure out how much product you get. the no ice thing does work with coffee and tea tho.

At Starbucks and other coffee places if you order a drink and ask for less ice, they will usually just add more water or milk (depending on the drink) and not more coffee. (I know this from working at scooters coffee and having a friend who worked at Starbucks)

The frosty one does have a catch.
It’s a free frosty WITH any purchase. So you actually have to buy something everyday from Wendy’s in order to get the frosty.
It’s still a good deal, because it pays for itself in just a couple visits. But it’s not like you can just pay $2 and get 365 free frosty.

Fun fact: the “secret menu” stuff at McDonald’s doesn’t work sometimes because McDonald’s are franchised so at one location you could do it and at another you can’t and honestly it’s just inconvenient for the workers to prepare something they aren’t trained for and they might not even know how to make it so don’t do those things
Starbucks actually pre-determines and measures the amount of said ingredients that resides within a certain beverage as a ratio (unless said ratio is customized or altered in a significant way) that is on par to the beverage size. So, there is no reason to ask for no ice- unless you want a more intense, but lukewarm drink.
The only thing you get more of with no or light ice is milk or water the amount of espresso or concentrate and syrup will be the same. So it’s not even more intense, it’s watered down and lukewarm.
I work as a food server and bro I have so much respect for the fact that you said don't do this if its busy. Nobody seems to understand that we may have a lot going on so we can't prioritize just you.
Drive through refills be on another level
The free refills is why if I go out to eat I never get a large cup, if I'm getting a meal I'll go with the medium since it's generally the same price as a small in a meal. Only if I'm carrying out will I get a large cup because that's the most liquid, and I ALWAYS ask for no ice

Another hack is finding a receipt calling the restaurant telling them that you weren't satisfied and you want your money back. They won't be able to give you your money back but they'll redo the meal that's on the receipt and then you get that meal for free

Hey!, I work at starbucks, and the only difference between a tall and a grande is 4 ounces, and a tiny bit of ice. A venti and a grande get the same amount of ice aswell, and a trenta is only 4 ounces bigger than a venti.
For the refreshers we have to hit a special little button that adds on a dollar if you want pure base and no water in the refresher.

Fun fact: It's a free frosty WITH purchase with the key tag, they changed it a fee years ago, and only the Boo books are the true free frosty now. And I'm a Wendy's staff member so I know
for non-americans, getting large drinks is better bc one 0.5l cup is cheaper than 2 0.25l cups. same goes for fries and nuggets, the larger the serving the cheaper the price per 1 nugget/fry/etc. that's also one reason of many why we as employees can't just sell frozen nuggets bc they don't have a set price (source: I work at mcd)

I've been using the Wendy's frosty keychain since they started selling them. You can place multiple orders at once and get a free frosty for each order. You can also do this multiple times a day with no minimum order cost required, so you can buy a small fry (or the cheapest thing on the menu) and get a free frosty as many times you want until the end of 2023.
