This is a shared high point. The border between Fulton and Franklin Counties runs along the spine of Tuscarora Mountain. I was able to drive almost right to the high point. First I dropped my son Calvin off at Penn State Mont Alto for his freshman orientation. He will be studying forest technologies there starting next month. It was extremely hot yesterday. I had 97 degrees on my car's thermometer while driving to the location. Thankfully the temp was 10 degrees cooler on the top of the mountain. There is a really nice rock ledge vista with easy access. I enjoyed the view and then identified a nice tall Tamarack tree at the high point. The forest here also contained an American Chestnut tree with burs (seeds). I put my rope up in the tree but used it very little because the limbs allowed me to mostly free climb to the top. I finished my climb and traveled back to campus to pick up Calvin and head home. We both had a lot to talk about.
