Hi Devin, in 2023, my neighbor gave me an Amaryllis for Christmas. Purchased 4 bulbs. Then my discount store was closing out. I bought out the shelf 25 cents per bulb red Lyons. I hand pollinated blooms. OMG seeds everywhere. I got a bowl of water like you did. Did 30 seeds no sprouts then after six weeks had a ton. I planted them in 3 big petunia pots. I have two planter boxes now last year I forgot to water a small tray put them in the garage. I thought they died around February I was clearing the garage there were 10 little sprouts 2 died they caught up to the tray I nursed over winter. Only thing I left my little bulbs under ground none rotted. This fall I'm leaving both tray in the garage. It's attached to the condo. But the tempture is a steady 33 degrees. My big bulbs I placed them in little paper bags in the refrigerator in the veggie drawer. I planted them June 1 in a 18 inch pot. July 3 first bloom have several New bulbs forming. I'm in Ohio near Cleveland so our climates are similar. Sorry I wrote a book,
Hi Devin- just saw you for the first time on QVC and I got an amaryllis as the employee xmas gift over 30 years ago. it was great seeing all the offices bloom at at Christmas. So, it brought old memories and I'm inspired to create my own. Thank you.
i was on tiktok and i saw a random video about hybrid plants, i thought it was cool so i started looking for more then i came across the one where you started the amaryllis process so i came to see how the flower turned out but i found that you just uploaded this video 3 hours ago and we have to wait a whole year now 😭
Hi Devin my name is Deanna and I have an amaryllis that I just took the wax off because it was ready to plant so I put it in a planner but I think I put it in there wrong because I watched your video and it says that I was supposed to leave part of the bulb above the soil how much of the bulb should I leave above the soil and my second question to you is what time of the year should I put my amaryllis in the dark for 12 to 15 weeks thank you very much for your time and I hope to hear from you soon thank you Deanna 🌺

Can’t you pick up the seeds out of the water with your fingers if you’re careful. I can’t use chop sticks so it would be abuse of a seed if I tried to use the chopsticks.

Leave half above the soil. Place in darkness around September 1
