We can pollinate Amaryllis flowers to produce seeds and grow our own bulbs from seeds.
I grew 10 seeds 5 months ago and now I get 9 seedlings.
Though they were planted at the same time and from the same parents, the growth is different.
In this video I'm going to transplant these seedlings.
And I'll share some tips on seedling care and how to make them grow fast.
How long does it take for the Amaryllis seedlings to bloom?
Normally 2-4 years. Amaryllis only blooms when the bulb grows to a mature size.
In zones 9-11 where winter is mild and short,
Amaryllis almost grows all year round without dormancy.
It may take only 2 years from seeds to bloom the soonest.

I've just sown my 2nd attempt at growing from seeds. Will keep monitoring them as they grow in sunny Malaysia. As for my 1st, I have just transplanted them into a bed. All this while I had them in a window box from 2020. They are still in bulblet stage though.
Do they grow very slow in summer? When do you think the 1st batch of seedlings will bloom?
@@SelectionLife To be honest, I have no idea. My FB friends from Vietnam say it takes only 2 years for them. Me ? The jury is still out on this one! 😅

I use a soil mix contains saw dust, perlite and peat soil.
As little bulbs, it doesn’t need to stick of the dirt by 1/3? I can plant it deeper than a flowering size bulb?
Yes, bury the seedlings in the soil. Expose a bit when repotting after they get bigger.

Mostly I buy fertilizer from local garden shop. Sometimes I use Osmocote and Miracle-Gro too.
