being from England and never having much exposure to western riding, I always thought it seemed very harsh and to be honest I wasn't a fan for a very long time. Watching this video and seeing how down to earth and dedicated you are to these horses has honestly really changed my perception of it- it's fantastic to see what fantastic lives these animals have and finding your channel has made me feel a lot more educated on reining, you've really warmed me up to it. Keep up the good work.
Don't you have actual turn out for your horses? Like pasture? I mean letting them be horses would mean turn out and letting them interact with at least one other horse. Horse health and resilience is improved when they are allowed outside, especially as babies to build immunity to things. They also are more sure footed. Also, when they can nibble all day they keep the stomach acid down and way less problems with ulcers. I really don't get it, you have so much money and some of your horses don't even have windows in their stalls. It just looks so depressing for them. I know plenty of barns like that though. I just don't get it.
They sure do get out. You shouldn’t jump on a short video and comment so negatively on something you know so little about! Thank you for watching! I love my horses and the amount of money I have or don’t have doesn’t change how I care for them. Have a great day!

I really liked this clip! Im a dressage person and i can only imagine the horses cantering circles and doing tempis. But braiding those manes would break me! Beautiful horses!
Randomly stumbled on this vid, half way through hit that Subscribe button because I want to see and learn more! Nice clean, organized barn. Just a FYI...never love slap a horse or a woman, neither appreciate it. I know, I know...it just seems like a natural gesture to show your affection, but a nice rub will get you further with both! (And ALL horses love that wither scratch thing you did!)😄
How can people think it's okay to keep horses isolated like this? It's sad and unnatural. Horses are social prey animals and should live outside in herds, always moving and grazing together.
I am a horse lover, never really done more than love them from afar. I have a question. I have just started watching your videos, and you have in two days mentioned several horses were recently castrated. These were mature stallions. I am wondering was this done late so you got the full growth potential of a stallion, then wanted to settle them down while in competition? Could you explain what you are trying to achieve and if there is a reason to do it so late?
So those stallions were not mature. They were 3 years old. They were castrated because they were beginning to become to aggressive and unruly. So rather than continue having to reprimand them all the time. We chose to simplify their life by eliminating the testosterone.
@@mattmillsreining1 Good enough, thank you. I should have said "adult" - meaning they had their full physical growth on them, not mature, as that has too many meanings beyond that stage. It is my understanding that waiting for the animal to have it's full growth improves it's potential performance as a neck reining horse (insert the plan for how the animal is to be used) or whatever. Would you agree with that?
Ok so I’m totally curious about your horse with the alfalfa allergy! I have a three year old with similar symptoms and is on a predominantly alfalfa diet. I honestly have never thought about her having an allergy to it! She also seems more gassy than the average horse which also could be allergy related. Going to look more into that!

Yah, you know, chill out, be a horse......in a fenced off corner of a covered arena all by his stallion self. No offense man, but your horses seem more like tools than animals to me. Just my opinion obviously. Lots of fungus and infections, injuries. Those poor horses can’t even stick their heads out of their stalls to at least see what is going on. Very prison-like. Seems like a horse-factory. Sorry, the more I watch the less I like.

It's nice to see quarter horses with that all-around body type. You don't see a lot of it much anymore... especially when you go to the Congress in Ohio.
OK, so taking you at your word, I will comment. I have no idea who or what you are, (this came up in my suggestions) but it is no wonder the fungus has spread in your "barn". You should have used an anti fungal on your hands after touching the grey, before going to the next stall, touching the railings and the horse. If you as owner(?) of the establishment are willing to cross contaminate like this, one can only presume your staff do also. Wow, if you think being in a tiny corner of an enclosed space on unnatural footing is allowing a 3 year old to "be a horse" you can't have much of a concept of what the natural life of a horse is all about. These horses all look far too small for someone of your size. Where I come from, riders your size ride clydesdale or shire cross horses so they have the height and bone (substance) to last for years without breaking down. How well do these horses stand up to your weight over a period of years? Nice halters, but why not done up correctly, I wonder? Specifically the horse in the walker. Is there a reason the strap end has not been tucked into the buckle, leaving it loose to catch on things and potentially undo? Even if the person popping him in the walker was in a hurry, or sloppy enough to not have done it up, as a (presumably) professional horse person, I am very surprised you did not tuck the loose end into the buckle as you spoke. It would have been an automatic movement for any horse person I know and admire. Attention to the important details, rather than fiddling with forelocks is what is really impressive, in my book. Also sets a good example for the younger generation to see things done correctly. It was drummed into us as kids; buckles and keepers are there for a reason, to keep you and the horse safe, so always use them. A good habit that will have undoubtedly saved many a life over the years.

@@mattmillsreining1 if you put them on? Not too far from home, I had my brother pick me up in a car a block away from the house. It took a year?
Chased dogs running away three blocks away from the house.

Quarter horses? Yes
@@mattmillsreining1 haha sorry about that Matt, I was probably thinking of football hahaha! They're so beautiful and compact!
No worries. 😎💯〽️
They are all so beautiful
Nice barn and horses but the big question is how do you get all the horses mane to be that long
Willie Mitchell, 🤣. Very carefully! Lol mostly genetics. But we do shampoo n condition once a week
I think you will find your horses will perform even better if they were to be in a herd setting, allowed to graze...........to be horses.
