I would love to see that!! With barrel racing as the third round.
Wouldn’t that be something
I agree!!!
Yes!!!
Or an extreme cowboy race?
Barrels definitely needs to be the final round
OK im down for the idea of this competition, but how about instead of the combat, yall do a discipline yall havent done before, (ie poles, jumping, or maybe some western dressage) cause i think watching yall 2 try a different discipline would be so funny and id watch for sure LOL
Western dressage is very fun highly recommend xx
Good 💡idea!
New reality 📺
Love this idea!
Yes I love that idea
A showdown event would be very interesting!! Dressage as the third tie breaker round.
I’d prefer to see Matt do the reined cow horse 😂
Agreed! I’ve had that thought for a while
You guys should do a competition with all different horse trainers. The phases each consisting of different disciplines (reining, barrel racing, dressage, jumping, saddleseat, gaited riding (paso fino), trick riding etc) and see who comes out on top! I think it would be so interesting to see what disciplines cross over and see who is most versatile! And if you did it I think Michael Gascon should be in it!
Yes, so that he can yank and jerk on the horses face, because that's always the best way to soften a horse...make them real defensive of their face first.
I want see Matt train a Morgan (western working lines) Clinton train an Arabian (must be a xenophon bred though)
I'd love to see like 4 or 5 trainers from different disciplines compete in each other's disciplines
Now we’re talkin!
I love that this channel offers the equestrian community a glimpse of what reining truly is. I would love to see more of this content from other professionals because it is few and far between. I think joining hands with other proclaimed professionals is a great way to bring more exposure and growth to the reining community! I would LOVE to see an exhibition of multiple events from several professionals!
I would watch that showdown! Just love how you handle horses.
Yes! I really would love to see this!
I love you and Clinton so a show down would be so fun to watch!!! I loved the horse swap with you and Fallon it was my all time favorite you tube video 👏🏻 so yes let’s do this 😁
Shadow Roller - so racehorses don’t jump the shadows from what I understand ❤️
I love to see this competition and ready to see this all unfold. Yay 😁 hope and pray this happens. :)
Love seeing more and more Charros making the transition into reining. Having grown up in the same environment, the biggest revelation I received was that sometimes we have to put culture and pride which largely make up identity, behind us if what we truly desire is to evolve in our horsemanship, period. That can be hard! That's two guys now that come up to learn from you Matt! Way to be! Mariano Pedrero is a big time reiner from Mexico who branched off from a respected Charro family to work with Greg Darnell. Aswell as Lorenzo Rios with Carol Rose. I mean that's how Xtra Quarter Horses started out after all. Alot of ties!
We’ve used coconut oil on the horses to help their coats ♥️
Hi Matt! I ride in the jumpers and we call the fleece a “shadow roll” and we use them for horses that flip/raise their head in front of the jump. It just encourages them to keep their head lower and the fleece blocks their view when their head is too high. Same idea :) New to your channel!
Thanks for watching! And for the info!!
Tiffknight : That's right , too !
Same name for racing also. I THINK it's the same universal. Although, I could absolutely be wrong. I do know in racing the name comes from horses wanting to jump shadows and so this was invented and hence the name lol.
Yep, shadow roll. On the running horses, the ones who would like to get their nose up/ evade the bit didn't like roll getting in their line of sight. I was starting horses so it helped me with a different issue; colts that would spook at shadows or shade or different colored footing on the track or arena. Some wouldn't like the sun slanting in through the indoor throwing stripes on the ground etc. Cheap remedy and for starting young'uns it was very temporary.
Yeah you and Clinton Anderson, amazing!! Ps. Because of you i start to ride western instead of dressage! Loving it, my horse is so much relaxed! Love your videos ❤️
That’s so humbling to hear! Glad you came over to the western side!!
I would love to see you and Clinton go head to head… nothing better then seeing our idols doing normal or ordinary people stuff! I especially like when people of different disciplines do cross over stuff!
I would LOVE to watch that match-up!
Yes would love to see a competition between trainers!
Yes this show down would be amazing
Ahhh yes please!!! We would love to see that
Totally!!! I'd definitely watch!!!
They're called shadow rolls and they keep the horses from jumping or shying at the shadows on the track.
Yes!!! Showdown👍👍😁😉 Thousands would watch.
Totally awesome idea, I would definitely watch it! The challenge sounds really interesting, I wonder who would actually come out on top and become the ultimate winner. Sounds sick :D
That would be great to see!!!
A Showdown sounds GREAT!!!
You guys should totally do that competition!
good idea! i would love to see that
That mare Brandi is GORGEOUS!! and definitely a throw down!!
Yes do a show down!!
Absolutelly. I have been searching Matt Mills vs. Clinton Anderson for a long time and nothing pops up yet. Another great idea Matt.
Reining with the same horse you start and then with each other's horse.
Hey there from Ontario, Canada. Love watching you channel. I train Standardbred race horses, and show cutting horses with my grandson. What you are using is called a shadow roll, we use them for Exactly what you said for them not to see shadows, they sometimes can see tire tracks when you are racing or when it’s a sunny day they will try to jump a shadow which is why use them not on all horses but But obviously the ones I do need them. Good luck with your show season looking forward to new videos. Rheal
I loved that episode with Fallon Taylor. I’m having fun doing some reining techniques from your website. I’m also learning some barrels from Fallon’s site. Keep ‘em coming ❤❤
I totally want to see the showdown!!!
I would love to see that!
Yes I would be interested to see
I like how your open to new ideas. Waiting on the Matt Mills fuzzy things to hit the market.
Oh! I remember using mayonnaise to deep condition my hair in the 70's!...20 minutes with or without heat, then rinse out. This was back in the 70's.!:)
I remember hearing about it as well. Just never tried til now
Love the idea.😊🥰
I would love to see it!! Barrel racing or roping for third round 👏🏻
Yes totally do it !!
The showdown would be awesome!
I’d watch that competition!!!!
I think that would be awesome to see a show down!
Entertaining for sure
Oh hell yeah I follow you both!!!!
Thank you So much! I believe he would actually Get how dynamic this could be
8:00 exactly work outside relax inside
Please please please do this competition!!!
Awesome idea
I would love that my whole family would watch
100% would pay to watch!!
It would be an awesome idea!
OMG THAT COMPETITION WOULD BE AMAZING!!! Clinton please hit this man up!!!!
Right?? How much fun!! Come on Clinton!
Yes!
DO IT Matt!! Put him through the method!
You could also challenge him to something like a working equitation challenge as well. Something completely different then your normal gig and show off your horsemanship!
Shadow roll...we used it on the race horses to less reflection hitting their eyes while running (which lessens accidents).
The third round is blindfolded haha I love it
I have to clip my horses before a show every time so I have to have a really good supplement for shine and I use dac oil. Minis have to have certain show clips before shows but the dac oil really shines them up
Yes!! Clinton Anderson VS Marr Mills would love to watch that
I live in CA and know many barrel horses that are ex Reiners or have been sent to Reining training first including mine. Also shadow rolls can be used on a harsh nose and. I had a custom hackmore that Was great but not all needed the harsh nose piece but some did.
This guy is lowkey really funny… he said “I don’t really know why we need to do that but it’s pretty cool that he can” 😂
I think this is a stellar idea! I have a feeling you'll humble him lol. When you all select a charity, I hope you consider Saved By Horses which is a grassroots organization I founded, connecting marginalized youth with horses, mentoring, and community. I would really love to see this happen.
How about the last competition both of you have 1 hour to learn how to trick rope 😂 something totally different then what you guys are used to .
Un saludo Adrián, glad to see another charro in the chat
Last challenge is a Cala (Mexican reining)
That'd be awesome to see a showdown in the horse world.
The competition idea is crazy!!! I love it. Although I think I agree with the Mrs, the last item could have something better chosen than a physical phyt! (As funny as that would be to watch!)
I so want to see you and Clinton go for it lol, bring it on, I would definitely be watching.
I would love to see that! You could do barrel racing as the third round. Hope you guys do it!
I would love to see you throw down with Clinton Anderson! I've followed DUH for years and am new to your program, although I'm hitting the ground running. A colt starting exhibition would be so cool!
Wow there was so much in this video! Mayo is new to me.
I learned about the fuzzy thing it's a shadow roll and has 2 purposes one to keep horses from being distracted by shadows looking down, and the second with eventers/jumpers, if they throw their heads up to avoid the bit it will block their vision and force them to put their heads down to see the jumps. The ones for jumpers could double as a neck pillow they're so fluffy!
Good luck in VA! Clearly I've been in a bubble, I didn't know we had reigning on the east coast! 😀 I'm surrounded by hunter/jumpers and racehorses a couple states lower. 😕
Now about this competition between you and Clinton... First I vote yes! And second my vote for the third round would be you both have to create your own freestyle reigning routine, music, costumes and all judged by Dan James (his 2014 freestyle is still my favorite)! 😀
Oh yes that would be awesome
Yes I would pay cash money to watch any competition with you and whoever!
Thank you!!!
Colt starting, reining, and English jumping!
I would love that!
I would love to see that😍
Would be a great event. See different styles of training. I think you should add cow cutting event also.
Love Clinton. That is a cool idea
He’s just the right guy for this!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾〽️
I would love to watch a exhibition between you and Clinton Anderson. Love both your styles of training. It would be fun.
I love you and CA!! That’s a fantastic idea! Did you hear from his people?
Mayo is great for people's hair too. Leaves it so soft
Absolute yes on You vs Clinton
I love the idea of challenge with Clinton! Instead of boxing you can do dancing battle lol It will be super fun! As a long time follower of you both I would love to see the challenge!
Haha. Now there’s some
Comic relief!
yes please do!!!!
It’s called a shadow roll! Jumpers use it on spooky horses so they don’t get a good look at scary jumps or other things around the arena. I’d assume it is the same with race horses. Just acts like a blinder of sorts for “looky” horses
Yeah lets do this it will be so much fun to watch this love your videos men your amazing god bless you your family your horses and all the people works with you and i suggest for the 3rd roun a barrel race or roping " COME ON CLINTON ANSWER THIS MEN WE ALL WAITTING"
Shadow rolls encourage them to extend their stride. And keep their nose down as well. 😊
DO IT!! I know people who would watch!
You could absolutely do this in the horse world. Get 1 person from each discipline, Reining, Barrels, Natural Horsemanship, Some of the cow sports that my brain is blanking on, Dressage, Eventing, Hunters Endurance ect and come up with challenges. Everyone does the challenges on their normal horse and judges everyone on their normal event.
There'd be some disadvantages for sure. No dressage horse is going to spin like a reiner but then most western horses don't ride on contact.
Omg yes!!! Clinton, come on!
I would LOVE to see you put them hands on Clinton Anderson!!!! It would be AWESOME
🤣🤣🤣
Would love to see you do something with Ryan Rose and/or Jake Biernbaum!
love you both, that would be great.
Love the mayonnaise trick! Would it work on horses with normal coats? I don't want destroy anything here.
OMG! Yes, you and Clinton definitely should do this! I would go watch whatever the cost! Two of my favorite world class trainers competing, heck yes!
Haha. Don’t leave the Mayo on too long! CA is a great horseman! ✌🏾〽️
Hey Matt! I just wanna say that your my idol, and you encourage me to want to follow my dreams to be a reining trainer, I do reining and I’m only 12, and wanna continue it into my future!
That means so much to me!! I was about that age when I started thinking about training.
Clinton and you would be awesome!
Let’s make it happen 🔥💯🤟🏼
Imagine the excitement! 🤣
You mentioned grabbing the shank, try spraying the shank with vinegar, it works for me.
A Clinton Anderson competition would be AMAZING!
Please let him know!
I really wanna see a showdown between you and Clinton! That’s be awesome
We use those fleece nosebands on showjumpers to stop them throwing their head in the air before a fence as they cant see if they do it with it on
Seconded
Do it!!! Round pen show down 🙌
in Australia we call them nose rolls, they’re to stop horses from lifting their heads too high as then they can’t see. they’re a lot bigger than the one this filly has on though.
Well thank you!
@@mattmillsreining1 not a problem at all!
