Julian Casablancas: We had a few (fake names planned)... what was it... Lab Rat, Auschwitz Twins... just kidding... that was a fake album name, actually.. Dick Blade, The Trumps, that was... Fan: Zebra! Zebra? OK... you just like point at things you see and then you say them? lol Light! (Julian points at a stage light)(Beardo was wearing a zebra pattern vest) Cancel Beef, Man Dragons, Sex Meat? Whatever... This is an excuse to party! Yeah!
More nonsensical animal yells would be appreciated... Giraffe noises... :P
They had a setlist, but Jeff Kite's keyboard seemed to be having issues, so they decided not to follow what was written down. Beardo: Do you guys want to go up or do you guys want to go down? Fans: Up!!! :P (Beardo plays a little 'Peg' by Steely Dan)
The Del Monte Speakeasy is a bar and music venue with a capacity around 200, located in the basement of the Townhouse Venice. Admission was free and everyone enjoyed the surprise show. Julian and Beardo came out and talked with some of the fans after the set, which was very nice.

@Harry Mobbs To play like 3 new songs like that I think the album was done or nearly done last year but perhaps he wanted to wait for the strokes album to sell and tour for that first, then release the album around fall. but with tours postponed who knows man. maybe it drops as a christmas present?

I'm so saddened to see Julian this heartbroken over his marriage. Man. A guy so perfect like Julian, writing heartfelt songs like Hawaii and the adults are talking just wow. Compare - contrast....I sincerely hope he's doing well nowadays. Although the internet loves bullying him and gaslighting him, I sincerely wish for the best for this human...this world is cruel for which we do not know why.

@Guybrush3pwood yeah and I like that. It's very cool and unique to have songs with deep, personal meaning but are unintelligible and indecipherable. That's what I think really made their first album shine: the slurred, autotuned lyrics amongst the blanketing walls of eclectic soundscapes.

@@Sego763 Dm7, G7, C7 and Am7. It's a ii, V, I, vi chord progression. He actually uses the exact same in "Why Are Sundays So Depressing" and a similar one, the ii, V, I, IV, (the difference being the last chord) in about half of his other songs lol. Search "julian casablancas chord progression" and you will find a video with all of the songs that use either of these two progressions, all of them are beautiful and thats why he always comes back to it
