    In this video I'll show you the five steps to learning frontside 180's on your snowboard. The first step is to practice the 180 static on the snow. Here you can work on the wind up and pop that gets the frontside 180 around.
    Next practice the 180 as you ride across the slope. Here you can work on the heel carve that creates the base that you pop the 180 from. Add more speed and do the 180 up a side bank. By snowboarding up the side bank it creates pressure on your board which will allow you to pop higher.
    Next find a small roller or ledge to practice the 180 on. The key is to do a few set up turns rocking from your toes to your heels as you pop your snowboard off the lip of the roller.
    Finally take the frontside 180 to a small jump in the park. Here you can put all the element together to get the frontside 180 around on the small jump. Thanks for watching!

    Never thought about jumping from one edge and landing on the other. It seems obvious after hearing it. Super useful advice.

    Thanks so much for this video, did my first 180 following the progression you outlined here. Been snowboarding casually for 24 years but decided I wanted to finally improve at jumping and add some tricks this year. Your videos were clutch and a huge reason why I could do it. Most other tutorials are dudes who just take huge air and make it seem intimidating. I like the approach to small steps and staying at your level but progressing. Thanks again!

    I just got back from my trip where I was practicing 180's for like half of the 2nd day! (Even after a pretty bad spill that's been uploaded =D ) Really appreciate your previous tutorials Kevin! For me the toughest part was learning to ollie off your edge. I sometimes felt even more comfortable nollie'ing off the carve and spinning the opposite way. I guess kind of like a Knapton nose roll? Either way, the wind up was a big help and after a few frontside 180's they came pretty natural. Backside was a bit harder. But just follow the same steps as the frontside 180 and its all good. Thanks for all the vids man!

    Hi Kevin. Everything seems so easy when you do'it 😁. I've improved my switch riding considerably but I still can't feel the movement for the frontside 180 properly when I ride on the slopes ... I think I don't jump high enough although in your vid I see that you don't pop'up very much either from the ground and yet your movement is very natural and smooth 😁🤣. What do you recommend me to do?

    This was a good one! The spinning uphill logic was confusing when figuring out which way to spin.
    An easier way to think about it: Realize you should be turning slightly before you 180. If you are turning left then you spin left, if you are turning right then you spin right

    (I Live in Cornwall - UK) No mountains or snow here but great Surf, but each year I go into the mountains 1 Week - 10 days and sometimes 2-3 times in winter season. I have been whistler 4 times last time was last year. I know how to free ride the mountain always looking for powder and have a 10 year old RIDE Timeless. Time for a new one so 1st Question where is good to trial and test - any models I should look out for?Took it into Underground Tuning and they did a awesome job on the wax. Had a nice session with a level 6 snowboard instructor (MIKE) and asked what do you want to go over. My words lets do the park as i am always cautious of it. Great few days... But a late run and tired on a box jump slid off and fell onto my wrist - took full impact and had to download. Had a beer pull ( they numb ya arm and pull bones back into shape) 2nd Question I am coming back to the resort with the family and maybe a good idea for wrist guard or gloves inc wrist guards. any good brands would be helpful and where to shop in resort. Wrist is good now - been boarding for 20+ Years and love the Canadian people.

      Zircon we are basically the same skill level and front ones on jumps are one of my favorite tricks besides underflip and cab 5s I usually do a late 180 towards the landing, but if you want to be rotating the whole time try to grab Indy and make sure you look at the landing, I hope my advice helps keep shredding

      Line bosman I just learned fs 180 and have two pointers: 1) I found it easier in the beginning to take off switch and land normal. Once you get that then try taking off normal and landing switch. 2) when landing (especially landing switch) focus on sort of "stomping" your front foot down. I found this helps to remind you to get your weight over your new front foot.

    I can't get any 180s around. I don't know if I'm not able to get enough pop or if I'm not rotating enough, but I end up doing more like a 120.

      +Fire Rose how's your switch riding?

    • @FireRowz
      @FireRowz 7 років тому

      SnowboardProCamp Decent. I can make it down greens and easy blues, although they are definitely more early intermediate turns than my normal riding. I've only been trying while on a flat-ish area standing still.

    Another problem a have is when i land my 180 i land on the tail of my board setting me off balance

    • @Thekidisalright
      @Thekidisalright 4 роки тому

      CleverCanadiansTV it’s mostly because been you jump you are not balanced, if you try to lift your head first when you jump, you are almost certain to land on the tail and make you fall backwards, just smaller jumps but left both legs at the same time, this way you will get more even/level jump, master it before you try to jump higher.

      Also, what type of boarding do you want to do if you want to ride mostly powder get a rocker board. for park and freestyle get a camber and for a good beginner get a camber that is built for all mountain.

      the board length depend more on the weight than your height. Many manufacture 's website have tool to help you find your size . Here is Lip Tech board finder tool . Hope it helps
