i see him as a person that just goes with the flow
and i feel like that's the most important thing an artist should learn.
To an extent it depends on the art he was lucky thats his style some art like he says is painstakingly time consuming and stressful i don’t see how people paint on commission

I started painting watching these on channel 34 about 40 years ago. A couple years later I switched to acrylic. I had kids and acrylic paints dry faster. I still do an oil once in a while. I still love this show. I always learn something.
Bob: "You know what we need back here on this big bank?"
Me: "I bet it's a tree."
Bob: "Let's have a few trees."
Me: "I KNEW IT."

In Brazil, we have a tree called “Ipê”, or, in English, trumpet tree, which flowers and looks a lot like those lavender bushes. The taller ones will be more tree-like, but the shorter ones can look a lot like bushes, and when it’s flowering, all the leaves fall out, and a bunch of flowers will take their place, and the trees will look like they have pink, or lavender, or yellow leaves. It’s quite beautiful

This is literally the calmest I’ve ever felt
A lot of color and texture in this one! I noted the water the most in this one with the curved river and the waterlines he put in. The Rocky cliff on the edge of the river is also a great example of texture. Color wise I think that the dark to light blue sky, the purple bushes/trees in front of the green, and the green on dark in the front, were all good choices. And of course the stones and little things like sticks really did help the painting have some spice to it.
Sorry for making this short and late, I'm making videos for my channel (please don't take that as promotion), and I had school work.

I found this painting almost cartoonish in its optimism. Cartoonish, in this sense, being perspective rather than reality. It's strange, but here's how I see it.
This is the landscape that someone late in life believes himself to see, rather than what exists. He sits, looking over the land he's walked for many, many decades, and, in that moment, breathes a sigh of contentment, knowing it was all okay. A long series of vibrant and colorful experiences involving people of much the same quality.
I dunno. Just the way I felt about the painting.

A likely story
Do you know the appropriate scenario to use paint thinner, liquid white, liquid clear or some other type of medium? How do you know what you’re supposed to use in a given situation can you please help?

Does anyone know where and when Bob Ross went to college??? If so, please share. Various online sources indicate he dropped out of high school, worked with his dad in carpentry, then enlisted in the military, but the details of his education while in the military or after, are not mentioned in any detail. I only know he was an understudy of Bill Alexander and one other gentleman.
I wonder how many times he bumped his sleeve with the paint on that palette.
