  • Loma Spa in Cupertino, California, offers a Transformative AP (Advanced Performance) facial that combines a variety of beauty devices with holistic healing techniques. The facial includes gua sha lymphatic drainage, hot stone massage, myofascial release, stem cells, microcurrents, an ultrasonic eye wand, LED therapy, a cryo stick, and more. The facial is about 80 minutes and costs $320, and $125 extra for the microcurrent step. Insider's Caroline Aghajanian tried the facial on camera by owner Leyen Tran for a discounted media rate.

I just wanna remind everyone that you need a water based gel when you use ultrasound. The ultrasound waves dont travel through the air and into your skin, you need a wet medium in between. Layer your serums and such, then apply the gel and proceed to using the US....👍🏻

Yeah I think this is more for the experience than to truly help someone, I’d need to see someone with visibly terrible skin try it.

Aren't the stem cells just useless when applied directly onto the skin? There's already certain vitamins and minerals that are too big to be absorbed through the skin so aren't stem cells even bigger?

I find the issue with these types of thing is that the fancy ingredients that make the product expensive also don’t have much effect on the skin. It’s just a superficial addition to mark up prices.

When she spread the charcoal mask on her closed eyes I felt weird, oh lord, no. I guess its drilled into me, Avoid the Eye Area, every time I do a mask! I think this is just too many treatments at once. The skin would surely react to so much being done to it? If I do a scrub say, I don't do a retinol or peel at the same time. Separately or two or so treatments together yes.

I 🙄 everytime estheticians/beauty diyers regurgitate empty words like calming, soothing, firming, toning, lifting, detoxifying, etc. Tell us how exactly with scientific evidence. Also I noticed she wasn't wearing a mask while doing the treatment so the esthetician was basically microspitting/breathing over the clients face while she talked. 😷

I mean, let's face it. None of us are here because we legit think this is a good thing to do. Similarly to how we can find it satisfying to peel dry PVA glue off our fingers. Scraping, poking, shaving stuff off a person's face gives us a surge of satisfaction to watch. But better they keep doing this to their poor, raw skin than us 😅
