George was actually a pretty good pitcher in baseball. Probably could have made the bigs but gave it up to play guitar and sing. I think he made the right choice.
I'm 63 yrs old and forgot that everything is digitized mixed and remixed these days. It's a real shame that so many young people have no idea what they are missing hearing live music, with all of the good, bad. I believe that they really earned the respect of their audience because they had to work for it!
This is a cover. The 1966 original is by legendary bluesman John Lee Hooker. Of course, this live version is heavily ad-libbed. George has been known for his heavy touring. He once did 50 shows in 50 states in 50 days, no nights off.
Back in the day we saw George at the Oregon State fair, later that night we were in our local bar and he walked in with his boys and played all night in that dive bar with all of us partying like fools. Was beyond amazing.
Lonesome George Thorogood, I don't think has a bad song. Went to see him in 1992 I think, it was so awesome. Elvin Bishop is good himself. Checkout "Bad to bone"
I have been to 2 of his concerts, they were always SOOO full of energy. Brian Setzer was with him at the last concert. Also, a legend and he brought several of his guitars. Thanks
A lot of guys actually use sparkplug sockets as slides. Pull the foam out so their finger fits inside. But generally, slides are made out of glass, ceramics, copper or chromed steel. A bunch of the old blues players used old glass corracidan cold medicine bottles or cut down long neck beer or whiskey bottle necks.
Thorogood was hugely successful, pretty good for a musician who NEVER recorded an original composition. Every single album He and the destroyers recorded comprised covers of others original tunes
And THAT is when you believe in The Blues. What a great Art form, a big Thanks to all those pioneers George calls out in the middle. As others already mentioned, the thing on his finger is a slide - a super-important sound in the Blues. What was that story the guitarist from The Band related? He was playing slide guitar in a side moment, just for his own satisfaction; and was it Muddy Waters who came up behind him? Grabbed him around the chest and said "Don't ever stop playing that..." Tells you how important that sound was.
That socket is a slide, the Hawaiian Violin, glassfinger, bottleneck, poor man's violin, bluegrass bow... if you want to see more of this listen to The Allman Brothers mainly the Duane Allman Anthology and also listen to Derek Trucks who is literally the Reincarnation of Duane Allman.... seriously
George has the perfect blues voice. It sounded too old for him when he was young but as he aged, it fit his look. This is a cover John Lee Hooker’s song. Both are good.
John Lee Hooker released this song(no sure if he wrote it) but George embellished it a little bit. He is an extremely underrated picker. Every name he called out are Legends of The Blues. They all had their own "tone" and that's what Elven was playing.
The thing on his finger I've always heard called a slide. It gives a different contact to the strings. I'm no where near Elvin, but I used one that was an empty beer bottle stuck over my finger and I sounded almost okay.
Elvin Bishop has his own Band. Song suggestions Mississippi Queen, Fooled Around and Fell In Love ( his backup singer Mickey Thompson sang the song because Elvin didn't think his voice suited the song. )
You need to do “ Bad to the Bone”. You’ll love it. I just found you so maybe you’ve done it already. Also Meatloaf- Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Do it live performance. Like ur stuff!!
Saw George right before the pandemic, he is awesome and throws a local take on the show. Like he is doing her for New Jersey. He also has a guest but I don’t remember who it was🤦🏽♀️😂
I want to start with, I watch your channel and love it. Like most of these artists with their music change folks. You do this in a sense also. We can clearly see the good in you. The messages you say across these casts make us smile, frown or cry. We feel your emotions. This my friend is a rare talent like the artists you share... Thank you for for this. That all being said, I have a singer I'd love for you to react to.. Seth Anthony; Reckless. Your followers I believe would also love this. This reaction I'd love to see. Any Seth Anthony video honestly.
Haha I've had the drinking game with this in a one long lock in. Still drank em all under the damn table haha. Bud tastes like rag water though, what's this lite beer all about then hey? We only drink proper beer here & sure as hell not Foster's which is strained dish water lol. Oh you want a story - have you done johnny cash a boy named Sue? Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
He had a slide on his finger. It makes a different sound. It is the same concept as a video you did a few days back where Roy Clark used a drinking glass.
That was quite the ride..lol... I don't drink but I have been a bartender...those types of orders are a heads up..we're going to have a wild night !... Check out slide guitars or steel guitars...I guess it's going on a hundred years since they started doing those sound effects...western and country used them a lot..and many still do... Catch you in the next videos Greg...🌿🌿🌿
I saw him 4-times in concert and he was always a crowd pleaser. He played in the gym at SUNY Brockport State in the early 80's and the floor was heaving up and down so much, you could straighten your legs and get bounced off the floor. This was a good performance but if you're new to him, his original version is much better in my opinion.
This combo is what we call the Wrecking Ball and it'll mess you up like you just got hit by one, too. It's a nasty, doing some damage to numb me type combo.
If you have reacted to Charlie Daniels Band "The South's Gonna Do It Again" there's a line that goes "Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay He ain't good lookin', but he sure can play" .. well, that's the same Elvin Bishop playing with George Thorogood.
I love George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers!! But you gotta react to Meatloaf's music since he just passed this year. Start with "Paradise By The Dashboard Light". Also go back to Elvis and react to "Elvis in the Black Community"
Spendin' all the rent $$$ buyin' rounds in the bar. Studio version tells the story better, but we don't get to see Elvin Bishop & his "socket" slide makin' the guitar sing & whine. We see those used mostly on horizontal slide guitars. Couple of George's songs you might react to: "Who Do Ya Love?", & "Bad To The Bone", used in the soundtrack of the Stephen King movie, "Christine". Really, for yourself, check out the studio version of this one, & thanks for your reaction.
Bro just to let you know Pete and Bas have so many new tunes you haven't reacted to yet, General's corner, Bermondsey, Brown's, Shuffle, Mr Worldwide, And more bro! I like your reviews bro hook up your Boyz Pete and bas 💯💥
And that, my friend, is how it's done! Those guitars are in the hands of two masters of their craft. I never tire of hearing them play.
George was actually a pretty good pitcher in baseball. Probably could have made the bigs but gave it up to play guitar and sing. I think he made the right choice.
Love this performance! George and Elvin together...fabulous! 💖😎
The thing on his finger was a slide and you do get different sounds when using one. Great reaction!❤️😊
It screams blues to me! It's versatile then cos you don't need a dedicated slider

close, the original was done by Amos Milburn in 1953, John Lee Hooker covered in 66 and made it much more famous.
actually JLH's version is also a cover
the original was written by Rudy Toombs and recorded by Amos Milburn
@@arlaabrell8658 just coming here to say the same thing. Although George puts his own take on it.
Back in the day we saw George at the Oregon State fair, later that night we were in our local bar and he walked in with his boys and played all night in that dive bar with all of us partying like fools. Was beyond amazing.

He's so excellent in concert, seen him here in Iowa in 2018
George also sang the song "When I Drink Alone, I Prefer To Be By Myself!"
Elvin Bishop wrote "Fooled Around and Fell In Love"! Elvin is a legend.
Thank you for a wonderful reaction!
LOVE me some George! Saw him live, great show. Bad to the Bone is my all time favorite, give it a listen!
Welcome to boogie music ❤️♥️❤️♥️🥰, so happy you liked it, please do more of his stuff, you’ll love it 🥰
George used to play on the side wall of main St in Newark De when he was first starting out, always great music from him
I have been to 2 of his concerts, they were always SOOO full of energy. Brian Setzer was with him at the last concert. Also, a legend and he brought several of his guitars. Thanks
Saw a couple times myself. Great concerts!

Never saw this version of the song. Ol' George looks like he's about break down and start laughing.
Thorogood was hugely successful, pretty good for a musician who NEVER recorded an original composition. Every single album He and the destroyers recorded comprised covers of others original tunes

George is a story teller. He is also crazy! Love it.

Every name he called out are Legends of The Blues. They all had their own "tone" and that's what Elven was playing.
the song was almost over before I realized who Elvin was. He played guitar on Fooled Around and Fell In Love.
He's Buh buh buh "Bad To The Bone"
How can you not smile from Ear-to-Ear watching this????!!!!!
Elvin using a slide! If you wanna see an awesome female slide guitar check out Bonnie Raitt ☮️❤️😎
The thing on his finger I've always heard called a slide. It gives a different contact to the strings. I'm no where near Elvin, but I used one that was an empty beer bottle stuck over my finger and I sounded almost okay.

Bad To The Bone , George is the Man
You need to do “ Bad to the Bone”. You’ll love it. I just found you so maybe you’ve done it already. Also Meatloaf- Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Do it live performance. Like ur stuff!!
I love this guy. My Mom made a T-Shirt for my Nephew once on the song Bad To The Bone. It was so neat!
It's on and popping 👍😀💯
Love George❤
I saw George in a small venue in Va Beach in the early 80's ...what a blast
Saw George right before the pandemic, he is awesome and throws a local take on the show. Like he is doing her for New Jersey.
He also has a guest but I don’t remember who it was🤦🏽♀️😂

At 6:09, that’s a slide that is used to play slide guitar.
Lonesome George and his big boots. Always a good time.
Never heard this version before I can dig it!
Its called a slide ... Used mostly in country music . See it on a slide guitar ( guitar that is laid down like a piano.)

💖 George 🎼💖🕇
They use wine bottle necks five eighths inch socket or anything that fits the finger.
You can tell they are having a good time just jammin!
He had a slide on his finger. It makes a different sound. It is the same concept as a video you did a few days back where Roy Clark used a drinking glass.

Back when the snow was pure. My Bois cold sweating it in Florida 😂😂😂 u

Makes a Slide Guitar sound ‼️💯
Great showman
That was fire for sure.
Fun song!
I just saw him live a few months ago here in Florida. He put on a fantastic show.
That was quite the ride..lol...

The socket is a “Slide”.
Classic!

saw him couple of years ago he's still 👍
my favourite is Magnolia.
This combo is what we call the Wrecking Ball and it'll mess you up like you just got hit by one, too. It's a nasty, doing some damage to numb me type combo.
It’s a slide on his finger, to get peddle guitar sound.
Not sure what the thing is called it allows them to slide across all the strings and gives you a bit of that "whine or whatever you call it"
If you have reacted to Charlie Daniels Band "The South's Gonna Do It Again" there's a line that goes "Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay He ain't good lookin', but he sure can play" .. well, that's the same Elvin Bishop playing with George Thorogood.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thats s slide so that it slides up and down the neck like barre chords
Elvin Bishop is an all-timer in his own right too. Check him out too
Old elvin with that slide
Never saw that live. Excellent choice. If you actually drank , " one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer everytime he sang it, lol.
So good to see another generation loving this music
as said below, that socket 0n his finger is a slide.... wait for it.... you'll see what it does.
Hey great reaction your face lights up and i even laugh when you do!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🎶
Saxaphone smoking it.
It a blues slide bar
❤❤❤❤❤🎉
That's a guitar slide. Makes it whine
There's blues in there
I love George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers!! But you gotta react to Meatloaf's music since he just passed this year. Start with "Paradise By The Dashboard Light". Also go back to Elvis and react to "Elvis in the Black Community"
Love.. Look up Elvin Bishop

Called a capo or kapo for the unique sound
Capo fits in the neck of the guitar to be able to change the tuning/key of the guitar without having to actually re-tune the strings.
Lonesome George and his Delaware Destroyers, Bad to the Bone.
Blues slide
Top performance...... now I'm thirsty! Good work!
That's called a "slide."
Nope he got to have that bud 😃😃😃
Eldon Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay, he ain't good lookin', but he sure can play... Written by the late great Charlie Daniels 10:21
Bro just to let you know Pete and Bas have so many new tunes you haven't reacted to yet, General's corner,
