As usual, you have insights that only a pro knows. You explanations are always clear and precise. It took me about one year of getting my toss right and then another half year to get my motion right. I was determined to make it work right and your tips were always helpful. Thank you. On the topic of the B'day hat, I have watched a lot of his videos and almost every serving video, Ryan always talks about the hat trick. My feeling is that if you have to resort to props to learn to serve, you have some serious problems. I think everyone has a different path to learning tennis and I think I was fortunate that it didn't take me that long. I have a reliable kick serve, flat serve and a decent slice. Still working on getting the slice more consistent on hitting that line. But I always love your lessons. Keep making them, you are definitely making a difference in this world.

Thanks for the reminder of 3/4 drill and the Half serve... I have a kid who drops his racquet too early and working to replace that habit with a better one
Definitely for power, you want your forward motion toward the service line to be in sync with your body turning. Legs do most of this work and the power comes from turning your hips, then waist, then shoulder (because of hips moving) so your arm strength is enhanced so use your arm to generate power. Continental grip is needed for power or pronating either way for spin. In any case, the serve should look the same regardless of slice or power. So yes, as Jeff says start racquet down until you've just started turning.
Thank for this Tip, I tried to modified my serve with the birday hat technique withouu success, so I will use the modifie wrist thecnic in orther to see the results, Many Thanks!
