At the end when she says, "he waved back"....of course he did! 😂 it's the Midwest! We're friendly 😁
Yeah .... not really.
@@bardnightingale except... UNO REVERSE CARD!
They are. 😀
Aside from the morning drinking, all of that could be true of Texas! Except for the liberal parts. The Californians always seem pissed off in the city. But we don’t really count that as Texas anymore so I guess it’s okay. They’re ruining the “Texas friendly” tradition 😥. Wonder what has Californians so angry all the time???
I just said the same thing!!!! LOL
I'm from Minnesota and I'm not that friendly but I'll always wave back, I'm usually confused at why they're waving and wonder if they know me though.
Oh hooray! Midwest Neighbor and Charlie finally together in a video! My life is complete. 😸😜
Match made in heaven!
@@holdernessfamilylaughs Please tell me you made more than one video with him!
Oh you betcha!!!
Same!!
There's one called Midwest pickleball
Wisconsinite here. I laughed so hard when the caption read, "Kim never made it to work." 😂 What a delightful skit!
Her face on the freeze frame 😂😂
Wisconsinite here as well.
Kim In the Midwest sounds like a daytime tv miniseries that I would totally watch.
Not a bad idea.
😂😂
Actually,...yah...that's not a bad idea for a show..I'd watch it Fer sure!
It's the next Emily In Paris. Truly. Only better. 😂
@@holdernessfamilylaughs Now Kim at a Fleet Farm or a Quick Trip would be Midwest Gold!
Being a Wisconsinite I can confirm this is 💯% accurate 😂
Glad we represented WI well!
I agree. I was like, "YEAH, AND?" (HA HA)
Did you like Milwaukee? Downtown is so amazing especially the Deer District!
Wisco sister here!, I currently live in the south though. Miss everything about my home state. Love that you got to experience that greatness.
Agree! Perfect
Hey....did anyone catch this....Kim is morphing into a Midwestern....
When she answers the question " did u eat yet", she says " Yeah, No"....full on way a Midwestern person answers....😂😂👍👍
Oh my gosh you're right.
😂😂😂
That’s also an Australian answer, maybe she’s a secret Aussie spy lol
I noticed that too!!!!
That was my first thought too when she said it lol
I have to say the Producer really made this one lol. Her enthusiasm was infectious.
She was so excited to be "back with her people."
@@holdernessfamilylaughs oh loved the song too. Well done job all around.
so glad you were able to add @Charlie Berens, he makes the video just that much better.
Agree! She's my spirit animal!
@@holdernessfamilylaughs lol😂
The midwest friendliness is completely accurate. I’ve struck up conversations with total strangers, then when asked if I know them “nope”. And I hate socializing.
It seems to be the norm there.
I grew up in Indiana and now live in Pennsylvania. My husband HATES that I will strike up conversations with strangers. I can't help it!
I do the same thing. My husband doesn’t even care though. 😂
we lack the social embarsament but ask us to do it over the phone how to explain that i dont know see ya face to face i know exactly what i'm saying.
I work at a little grocery store. Apparently everyone knows me like I'm their old friend but I don't know hardly anyone's names or their lives. And we conversate as though I do. I love the Midwest!
I love these Midwestern videos. I watch them and I am like: doesn’t everybody wave? doesn’t everybody chat with a stranger? Doesn’t everybody love Lake Michigan?
Lol.
Great entertainment guys!
I don’t think it is real that people don’t talk to strangers in grocery store lines and wave to people wherever. How is this not a real thing elsewhere?
In chicagoland here - I will say the wind this year has been something! At least we're not getting Buffalo's weather!
If I saw a random waving, I'd think: waving to someone else, trying to sell something, possible d/o.. The communal aspect seems pretty nice, but jw how long it takes to do anything/go anywhere lol?
@@cecelia3296 lol. Kinda depends on the situation. Like in line at the grocery store - it would be a small talk chat. Also, depends on my mood.
But like, the waving to the boat- like in this video- I can totally relate to that! No talking involved there. 🙂
I'm from Minnesota but I lived in Michigan for a few years and I love Lake Michigan!
" . . cousin's, girlfriend's, brother's Euchre tournament."
LOVE IT!!!! LOL
Favorite team name I ever entered a tournament under: GO GO BOWER RANGERS
@@chadsmith3363 that’s fantastic!
As a Michigan native, I can confirm that we get super excited about the Great Lakes.
Excited too! ;)
@@jilliemc 😜
Seconded!
I live in TN now and really miss the best parts of MI; the great people and the Great Lakes
Ha, I'm a Michigander too (first generation, parents from NY but was born and raised in Metro Detroit). We do LOVE our Great Lakes. And we love hating Ohio, and blaming them for Lake Erie pollution! lol! Am I wrong? West Michigan, and Lake Michigan? So pretty! I think Kim and her neighbor need to come to Michigan next!
“You’re in the weeds on the meat raffle” - made me snort-laugh. Great video! 😂
As a proud Midwestern born and raised..... THIS IS AWESOME 🤣
The Midwest is the best.
Ab-so-lutely 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Midwest gal here!
As a Minnesotan. I love this. So happy that @charlieberens made an appearance
I am a Minnesotan too, and I totally agree this is accurate! Heck, I went to a road house last week that was having a meat raffle, and I could have bought pull tabs too!
Happy new Duluthian here, formerly from Wisco, born in Illinois, so Midwest neighbor is me 100%.
Charlie Berens sounds so familiar…. Yet who is he ?
@@borntoteachw4028 he is a comedian from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
I'm from the generation that watched Laverne and Shirley and Happy Days and recognize the nods to this! Enjoyed this skit immensely!
& Alice, with her little waitress uniform
Michigander here; words can't express how spot-on on and fun these are to watch! Thanks for keeping the Midwest Neighbor in new adventures--she is a complete gift and Charlie Berens made it even more fun. Thank you for keeping us laughing and for also making us proud of who we are as Upper Midwesterners!
Charlie at the bar was the icing on the cake. 😂
Or icing on the lake (fellow Midwesterner here, lol- I have lived in MI, IN, and now MN- guess I need to get out more lol)!
The bar is pretty much the place you see everyone - & the grocery store & Target 🤣 - in Northeastern Minnesota where I live. We have town on the Iron Range that have more bars than other businesses 😂. Charlie's videos are awesome!
As a South Carolina girl who moved to Minneapolis, 15 years ago, this is EXACTLY how I felt! This video made me so happy and Charlie was the cherry on the spoon!
Bloodysplain = genius line.
You mean the beer after the Mary.
Cherry on the spoon-- you may have to explain that one to non-Twin Citians, but I loved it!
@@chasetonga I love when she explained what the beer was for. lol
@Sarah Minneapolis has a giant sculpture of a cherry on the tip of a spoon. It's a signature piece for the city. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoonbridge_and_Cherry
This is high on my list of favorites! I love the Charlie Berens cameo.
Say hello to your Folks for us
Oh geeze. What a fun way to start the day! Kim running with the neighbor. Penn making the words fit with the music. The neighbor being the neighbor. 😂
The neighbor being the neighbor is right.
Charlie is well...Charlie.
As a life-long Wisconsin resident, this is 💯 % accurate. Kim, Penn, neighbor, Charlie Berens - all of my favorites. One of your best videos.
Thank you for being here.
I agree...this was one of the funniest ever! Your neighbor is a hoot!! LOVE HER and nice cameo by Charlie!
Charlie was just fantastic in his appearance here! Very serious in his instruction!
Oh Holderness Family, you fantastic creatives. Milwaukee. The Fonz. The bridges. The Lake. Sausage & Bloody Mary’s and fish fries and meat raffles. And Charlie Berens. Even the “Kenosha Kickers” T-shirt from Home Alone! I laughed…I cried…I wanted a bratwurst. As a Midwesterner born in Milwaukee & living in Missouri, you’ve brought me such joy! Glad you had fun in MKE. Come back to the Midwest anytime!!!
As a southerner living in Milwaukee, I have been through everything Kim went through
The winter here sucks, but I bet our summers are pleasant for you!
“I love the Midwest.” Aw, the Midwest needs more of that vibe 🥰 I grew up in Minnesota. The Midwest is so underrated!!
I grew up in Michigan and loved this sketch. Also loved seeing Charlie in it too. Keep her moving, ya sure.
I loveeeeeeee anything that Kim and her adorable neighbor do together !!!! They are quite a comedy female team !!!! Keep them coming !!! 😘
This was really funny!
As a European, it's interesting to learn about the regional differences in America. 😊
I had a couple of Irishmen visit my workplace a couple weeks ago and it was fun to hear their comments about Indianapolis.
Thank you for recognizing the regional differences. 🙂
To be fair, UA-cam videos of this nature probably exaggerate the differences a bit. lol. It can be seen in these comments by all the people from other parts of the U.S. that appear to be getting offended as if this video about Midwest people being nice is meant to imply that people everywhere else are not nice. :)
@@marcw6875 well, I didn't interpreted it that way.
It is normal to have a few stereotypes, that ofc are always an exaggeration, but still hold some truth most of the time.
A stereotype about us Germans for example is that we are rather rude. I wouldn't 100 percent agree, there are many nice and polite people here but it always depends on who you compare it with, too. Compared to average Americans, definitely. We are more blunt, we don't smile as much and sometimes stare (idk why that is a thing). But we are still less blunt than Eastern Europeans for example.
Also all these qualities are not necessarily positive or negative, a bit less politeness gives a bit more room for honesty for example.
In the end it's up to the individual what they're comfortable with and prefer. 🙂
There are so many differences too! I love it! I have family from Texas and then I have family in the deep south, both very different! I have family up north and that is still very different from the family I have in the north east. I've heard the differences are more pronounced on the east coast than they are out west. I'm in Colorado though, but we are fairly neutral here in comparison to the rest of the US.
I went to college in Iowa. My parents came out from California to see me one year and I was showing them around the town square of the small town where the college was located. Literally every middle aged person we met said "hi" to them like they knew them. Every restaurant we went to was the same. We drove up to Des Moines and Dad struck up a conversation with an elderly gentleman downtown as the both watched a crane working on a high rise (they both worked construction). Everywhere we went everyone was friendly to them. They were impressed!
Did you go to Grinnel? Hawkeye here.

Did your mom and dad decide to
Move out of

@@brendatroy2843 No. Dad would want to move to Oregon or back to Oklahoma (he moved here at 15) and Mom would always nix that! 😄 In spite of its issues she loved living here.
From one Floridian to another, I heavily relate to her reaction to the Midwest 😂
I really enjoy all of the skits but the Midwest skits are the best!!!! Kim plays it straight so well and Anne Marrie just makes me laugh so much. Thanks so much for starting my morning with lots of laughter.
Anne Marie! Thank you! I've been wondering what her name was. I just love her
I was just in MKE last weekend. Yep, all too true. I was in that bar. Missed Charlie, unfortunately. I was in that sausage store. I came home with a salami that was cut and wrapped to look like a beer bottle. I can think of nothing more Milwaukee than that.
Jeet there? Didja get some frozen custard or go by the beer depot, once?
@@bnic9471 I don't think I say jeet but realized I say didja eat.
I’m crackin’ up on this one! This should win an award!!!!! 😆😂🤣

Seriously so much fun!!! As a Midwesterner this just made my heart so happy!!! Kim figuring out “Jeet” was great!!! Adding in Charlie Bergen’s was brilliant. So, so good!!!
Rhode Islanders also say jeet, we combine many words together like that🙂
Geez Louise Spot on! I love that you brought Kim up our way.
I really enjoyed Kim getting into the weeds on the meat raffle. You really do need to know these things to make a choice!
Made me nostalgic to watch Laverne and Shirley again. Fun video, but thanks for the fun music as well, Penn!
We cheered when we saw Charlie! Yay UA-cam collabs!!! Now he needs to visit you guys!
I am a teenager and lavern and shirley and happy days are some of my favorit shows and they are way underapreciated by my generation!
Oh what fun u both and Charlie too!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍Lots of thumbs up!
Goodness me this was great. I loved it. I loved how scared Kim initially was and then by the end she was embracing the Midwestern way! Lol I just love EVERYTHING that y'all produce! Can't get enough! Watched it twice, once by my self then with my husband when he came in from getting the kids on the bus! Lmbo. We love u guys!
Thanks so much for watching!
Love the Laverne and Shirley theme song
I LOLed several times. Feels good to laugh with Holderness in the morning. That bloody mary was _ridiculous_!
"J'eet?" I totally understood that. That and the jello/marshmallow salads make me think there's some kind of strange connection between midwesterners and southerners.
My favorite part was about the Euchre Tournament. Favorite card game ever!
I'm still confused but I'm glad everyone else had fun.
@@holdernessfamilylaughs It might help you to know that the few of us Midwesterners who didn't grow up playing euchre are also confused. Fun game, but man, does it take practice.
So fun! As a native of the badger state, this is spot on. Great to see Charlie. Now I reside on the west coast of Michigan and Kim, you and Penn must visit our beaches. I would put them up against any Florida Beach. The sand is so fine it is used to make glass. Plus, no salt, no sharks! One thing, come in the summer. 😂
Yeah… they probably wouldn’t find winters along the Lake Michigan shores to be very pleasant. 😂
Detroit Metro area here. 😊
Ssshhhhh! We need to keep these things on the down low! 😲😒😉
@@tinaperez7393 Sorry Tina, you are so right! Kim and Penn, don’t come to our lousy beaches, or taste Founders or Pronto Pups, or visit Cherry Republic or Warren Dunes, Silver Lake Dunes and definitely not Sleeping Bear Dunes. You get the picture, stay away, we wouldn’t want to disappoint you. 😝😜😉
@@globalhuzb Exactly. Terrible places all of them. And I won't even mention the ones you left out. Cuz horrible! 😁
Born and raised on the west coast of Michigan and totally agree with you on the beaches in Michigan with their fine sand that does rival Florida beaches on the Gulf side. I had no clue that the sand on the other side of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee looked so different. Such a fun video!!!
Haha! My mind exploded when i saw charlie enter the scene! 🤯 Amazing job guys!!
Just lovin’ the Kenosha Kickers shirt….yay John Candy and HomeAlone! Go Midwest!
He was the best.
Love it - On the Michigan side of the Great Lakes - we have actual sand beaches vs rocky beaches. I remember being shocked that the Wisconsin beaches were rocky when I did the Lake Michigan Circle tour. If you want real adventurous- take a car ferry from Milwaukee across the big Lake to Michigan.
The west coast of (lower versus upper peninsula) Michigan has amazing white sand dune beaches for absolute sure - Ludington, Michigan being a great example (across from Manitowoc, Wi where the car ferry traverses to Ludington) and of course, the Great Bear Dunes National Park (I think it's a national park, would have to look up to be sure). But there are definitely some really nice white sand beaches tucked away on the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan at many places all along the shore. I might've been to every one. 😜👍 No kidding!
And let's not forget the breathtakingly picturesque - almost pacific northwest looking area (with great white sand beaches) on the southern shore of Lake Superior / north shore of Upper Peninsula Michigan (and southern shore of the U.P.) especially around Marquette, Michigan and The Pictured Rocks. Went there for the first time just a few years ago and it was a revelation. So beautiful.
The seasons around Marquette are so beautiful and the winter sports especially downhill skiing and sledding can't be beat.
Oops. I've said too much! 😯😒
The beaches in Milwaukee are NOT all rocky. I grew up in Milwaukee and was surprised to see the beach they visited. not typical!
@@tinaperez7393 I love the Marquette area and the Porcupine Mountains. There is actually a bunch of old growth forest around there, and a typical Iron Range-type culture. Love it. Go there often.
@@bnic9471 👍😸🔥❤️
First of all...VERY cute. We love your Midwest neighbor!! My hubby wants to know, "Where's STEVE??" :D
I'm on the other side of lake Michigan, and yes it's beautiful! Being originally from Kansas, I too used to think beaches only existed at oceans lol. I will definitely say, northern Midwest and southern Midwest are pretty different in and of themselves!
That was AWESOME!!! I love you guys and Charlie!!!
Tell ur folks I says hi!
I love the neighbor! I think I’d love that Bloody Mary too. 😂
It was very tasty.
If you are ever in Milwaukee, it is from Sobelman’s, a city icon!

This is great!!! 😂😂😂 I'm from the Midwest and moved to Florida 10 years ago. When I go home to visit and there's a family event, it's usually at a bar. In rural central Illinois, it's totally normal to hold a baby shower, birthday party for children or adults, or pretty much any event at a local tavern.
Just perfect. Another UA-camr I watch filmed himself making a "Midwest Bloody Mary" last weekend--hilarious to see that's actually a thing and not just an urban legend. I come from California where Bloody Marys are considered breakfast, not lunch...

Yay Charlie! As a Midwesterner now living in the south, I can definitely relate to the Midwest neighbor.
Gus Polinski and the Kenosha Kickers. Now just add the band Copperbox and their album ""Need a Little Squeezin" and that's a dream playlist right there. Even better live. And oh yeah, Charlie & Adam Greuel's album Unthawed - especially the tune "Wintertime In Wisconsin". 😸😸😸🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
Some of my Copperbox fave songs are "Purple Boa," "Schtumpfer's Cumbia," and "Hopeless Lover". And if those don't get you dancin, well get yerself some CPR cuz yer dead inside! 🤨🤔😯😜 These songs can be found on UA-cam for anyone curious (the album versions have best audio). Btw, Penn, knowing your musical tastes I think you'd actually, genuinely like these tunes. 🤔👍
* = I'm ashamed to say I have not actually heard of Gus Polinski and the Kenosha Kickers (I'm the opposite direction from Milwaukee further north). I'm sure they're great especially if Midwest Neighbor recommends them. (EDIT: a commenter said it's the Tshirt from Home Alone - didn't know that! 😜). Copperbox are Wisconsin and and Midwest summer festival regulars and polka band royalty, both in quality and being descendents of polka great, Tuba Dan, so definitely worth checking out.
