I'm really enjoying seeing the whole process of moving to your new property and turning it into everything you want it to be! Looking forward to seeing Fy Nyth in her new surroundings! I'll be watching!
That tiny bit of leftover material from your project is extraordinarily efficient, I'm impressed. Looks like you and Clay will soon enjoy a beautiful comfortable home together.
Whomever raised this outstanding, amazing, beautiful, hardworking young lady congratulations. What a joy to watch. I am so curious about this dream/project I can't wait to see it grow
A lot of work for two people! Just a hopefully helpful hint: At a community farm I volunteered on in South Carolina we had to extend the 6 foot fence by another 2 feet, because our deer herd had some really brilliant high jumpers and made it in the enclosure, more or less wiping out an entire spring's harvest. We put two strings of electrical fence on top of the 6 foot fence and a few runs at nose height (of the deer of course). It doesn't need to be very rigid and wasn't too much work. Just something to think about. Good luck with your farm. Enjoying your videos.
I think they are less motivated here than in some more crowded areas. I know folks who use 14 foot fencing to keep deer in, but no deer, elk, or moose has ever crossed my 5 foot fence in the past 7 years (with a lot more animals around in the old location!) except for when a tree crushed it or something similar. And thank you!
Had the same here, they can clear a height and width I never expected. One took the fence, the fountain, and the other fence in a few bounds. Unbelievable animals.
One of my fave channels to watch got a now huge & beautiful (forget breed) farm dog to protect chickens, gardens, etc. His favorite thing to do is to jump the 5’ fence & get the poor mother her son & daughter-in-law got the dog for running after him & typically finding him counties away (yes usually by car when the dog has run that far). Did it on a vid even while the d-i-l videotaped it. Hilarious. Not so funny tho if he keeps abandoning his farm dog duties; needs some more training. Gorgeous dog tho.
Hi Ariel, great videos...thank you for sharing your progress with your you tube friends. You and Clay and Burley and his friend are making fantastic progress and everything is coming on really well. You both work incredibly hard and I pray you will have many many years of love good health and happiness in your new place. God bless you all.v
Hi again ARIEL Wow what a great job you two did! A huge undertaking but the way you did it worked. Very happy you have a nice guy who was willing to take on such a project. Good work ethic for sure. Can't tell you how happy I am for you that you finally get to get to be serious now about your new place. Admire you so much for working hard and being patient til it was time. This is going to be great fun to watch you develop your dream. A great piece of land that offers it all! Thx for coming back on so we can follow along with you. Many of us who tagged along with you for a long time did miss you. Stay safe healthy and enjoy...
Wonderful and the property was an 8.5 to begin with. Now it is a TEN. Going to have to find a friend with a drone, so we can see it from the air in all its magnificence!
I like how you are not cutting corners, you did the bridge really well.also that is a very good fencing job,you both are hard workers.im looking forward to what you do next 👍🇬🇧
I gotta say I love the way you speak so lovingly to Burley (sp?). I also really love Clay-so hardworking which speaks to his love of you, Ariel. The mountains are majestic. I’m a mountain woman too & am so happy to see all your progress & dreams coming true. Just watched Fy Nyth being moved-yes nerve wracking but so glad it went off w/out a hitch. Ok, it had a hitch but you get my meaning.🤣
Love the big sky🥰. And Burley supervising, ha! Can’t wait til the house arrives, the fencing job looked hard but the fact it went so well is a good sign for projects to come❗️thanks for taking us along ❣️
You know how to be very efficient and creative too Ariel. That's great you and Clay were able to get all of the fence done last year. It's so exciting to see how the property has been and is being updated.
Great job on the fence. I use the 4 x 4 panels to keep deer out of raised, four feet wide flower beds that are 32 feet long. I cut the panels in half, eight feet long and arch them inside the walls of the beds, like a Quonset hut effect, lined up end to end. My wife got tired of the deer eating her tulips. Those panels are really strong. We have five raised beds at our cabin. We also use the rubber mulch in our beds. It never rots and has saved us tons of work replacing the mulch every two or three years. Turned out to be cheaper in the long run. Trial and error after twenty years, and we finally came up with a good system. I can easily lift and remove the wire panels if my wife needs to work in the beds. Deer spray did not work.
You know, the last sight was pretty but this land is breathtaking. I mentioned before I love the open land with the mountains in the distance - just my opinion but I like this better. It's just Wow. Really something to look at everyday-
God is wonderful and provides! You’ve come back with instructional videos just in time as we buy a property we want to grow food on and this is one of the things we want to do! Thank you!
This fence system is absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to see what you plant to grow up the sides. Trumpet horns would be nice. Well done! I love this series on your new life.
Well done ye! So many things can be grown on fences. For the lovely scent I recommend sweet peas (The flowers) And moon flowers. The aroma of these two flowers, sweet peas during the days and the moon flowers at night, really helps lift the spirits! I have hop vines on my trellis and a neighbor has grape vines. I am SO very happy for you!
If malabar spinach grows in your climate, that would be a great fence add. The fence looks very sturdy. ..those steel posts are tough to pull out once they are set! Cool system Clay!
Love watching the progress on the land. I am astonished at how much you accomplished in so short an amount of time. I can hardly wait to see all the new adventures you have on the new homestead!
Thanks! It's something I'd been saving towards for a few years because I knew something along these lines was going to be key on any property we ended up on.
That looks like it may keep the bison out of your garden. Clay seems like the sort to get right down to the task at hand as do you, but i am glad for your videos and explanations.
Wow, what a saga of collecting all that fencing! Your skill at figuring out how many panels you needed is just amazing! Such a nice neat little system to put up all that fencing. Good job! It was so much fun to watch. PS. The views from your land are absolutely stunning.
I do hope one of you checked the flood plans , with the fence over moving water / drainage water if a flash flood or 100 yr flood comes, debris can build up on the fence and either destroy it or divert the water out of the normal path. I know people personally who were not aware they had fenced in their goats cutting across part of flood plan dry wash . We had some serious storms come in and hang around causing flooding every where , debris built up on their fence and diverted the water to a neighbors property flooding a storage shed and damaging it and items inside. The people who put the fence up had to pay a small fine, pay for the damages and remove the fence. Though this was outside of Austin, Tx I would think places that have to have flood plans etc might have similar rules. Keep up the videos nice to see how it is coming together.
Good points. Yes there is a built in movable lower portion that can flip out of the way all on it's own with any pressure from water or debris or we can simply clip it up out of the way during high water. This is a pretty small little creek and it never gets very high. And yes, before purchasing the property we checked all the flood plane info.
@@misstrcarter I have seen deer go over 10 foot fence ..... I know it's not effortless but they make it look easy...... 6 foot fence they clear almost in stride
Very nice. I can imagine a super gigantic game of croquet. I love gardening but have had to give it up. So now I spend my time viewing the dreams of others. I had a Very large container garden at my condo but my husband broke his femur from cancer 2 years ago, and I don't want him moving and redoing heavy pots. We have plenty of wonderful farmers markets though. So never fear, we eat well.
We used 2x4 inch no climb horse fencing. Same thing, but it came in 200 foot rolls. We did the t-post thing ( my shoulders are now destroyed ) but we also put treated heavy H braces and corner braces with concrete. The 4x4 is mostly for goats.
More (fence) line dancing with Clay and Burley! Slick way to go. I found dwarf fruit trees did not live in Montana or NE California (Modoc county). Try the old fashioned full size trees or make sure they are grafted with cold hardy root stock. I know you do your research and maybe already knew this. I wasted so much time, money, energy on dwarfs and semi dwarfs because I didn't know. I wish you all the best with your trustworthy and respectful partner! PS I tiled the kitchen range backsplash in an Amish quilt pattern and had one square of black left over when I got done! Whew! cutting it close!
Ariel, I am so happy for you and Clay. This seems to be a beautiful location. I have built similar fencing & it is very sturdy but a lot of hard work & expense!
Those small cut offs from the fence can be used to get extra traction if you get stuck in the snow. Throw them behind or under the seat. I am from Idaho and you just never know about the weather. Nice job.
Did you ever introduce Clay or tell us how you met, etc. I am so happy you have him in your life. If you want to keep it private, we understand, but we are curious.
such a beautiful home you have and easy to move. Great idea over the years, always nice to get a solid investment and your father is one most females wish they had. Their to help you out and support you! He's such a really supportive man to work with you in your dream land ownership.
Greetings Ariel, you are really good at driving posts. Did you know that section lines are set on true N-S and true E-W? Getting the fence set is most important. And you and Clay have done this job very well. Outstanding video. You and Clay have a most extra wonderful day/evening.
Moses....section lines may be set on true E-W but certainly not N-S!....longitudinal lines are farthest apart at equator & the distance between them narrows the further north you go....since sections are laid out in a rectangular grid pattern it requires offsets ( and gore strips) to make work out!...

enjoyed the video ..you all have a good week-end
You go, girl!
I suspect dogs and foxes will dig underneath the fence to come in or out. We had a similar fence and ended up cementing the base.
Just scoop a small trench and put the bottom of fencing 6 inches into the ground...... when the grass grows through it you need a tractor to rip it up
I was thinking deer can jump up to 8 feet so if they want to get in, they will.
