Edit: for people getting stuck on stitch counts per row, the written pattern may be wrong. Follow the first 25 minutes of this video very closely (slow it down if you gotta), and just repeat the two different types of rows until the sleeve part is long enough for you. Your final row should be dc stitches (not window stitches) and this pattern is forgiving enough to add an extra stitch or two per side to make them the same. I found a lot of my issues were when I went on auto-pilot and ended up skipping a chain in the window rows, so i would then miss a dc in the next row, making it a stitch too short in the next window row. Just add the missing window to the stitch it was supposed to end on. As long as you are careful and only do it once or twice, you should be ok. Firstly, I need to thank you immensely for the tutorials for this-in literally every format. Thank you so much! Easy patterns for plus sizes are really hard to find, especially ones where custom fitting is as simple as adding a row or two, but this is the best pattern so far. I love how its looking so far and I am confident this will be my ultimate favorite sweater! Now, I may just be a slow crocheter, and I am making the 5X (i might make it a little bigger, idk yet) but I can say so far that this is quite a time consuming project for plus sizes. It is gorgeous and easy, I WOULD TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT FOR BEGINNERS, but one hexagon at 30 rows has taken me about 20 hours (it slowed down to a crawl of about one row per hour for me around row 25ish). If you struggle with sticking to one project, smaller sizes of this are going to be easy and quick, but larger sizes are gonna take a while. Again though, thank you a million times for this pattern and tutorial. It was exactly what I was looking for!
I really, really appreciate you giving left handed instructions verbally or in the written form. More pattern designers need to do this, so it most appreciated.
@@bittersweet2472 if you pause the video at the 44 second mark, you will see the pattern and it shows how much yarn the patterns calls for for each size.
I've watched this video so many times, because I like the patternt so much! Whenever I think of making a sweater, I mostly choose this one, because it can be easily adjusted for a baby sweater! Thank you! God LOVES you!
I've made a bunch of these and you can make the sleeves smaller by stopping the hexagon before it is full size, then stitching the sleeve and then adding around the hexagon until the side of the sweater is the size you want. Then add your scallop or trim. They are fun to make using up a lot of left over yarn too.
Thank you for the tutorial! I just made it myself with little changes on the pattern (different cuff and treble crochet border), and I love it! Now all my family members want one 😅
I just finished my cardigan and I love it! It is so beautiful! Your video and written instructions were amazing and very easy to follow. So as I sit here in Montana with a foot of new snow and subzero temps, once spring arrives, I have a beautiful sweater to wear during the warmer temps. Thank you for taking your time to do this for us. Take care - Barbara

Ok I have calmed down and I found it after 10 attempts. I refuse to let my dyslexia and adhd get he better if me. I love this pattern so much a and by nook and cranny I will get it done!!!!
You gave very clear directions. I like that there are no background noise or fill in music so I can concentrate on your directions. Can't wait to start! I always listen all the way through first before I start to be sure I can follow along corectly. This is very good and easy to listen to.
Thank you for this wonderful pattern. Clearly and very good explained, easy to follow the instructions. Have crocheted four of the cardigans in different colours and with different yarns. It also looks great when working with yarn cakes.
Hi there thanks so much for this l have done hexagon cardigans for babies in the granny stitch so this will be lovely for a change thanks so much from Ireland 😊😊😊
Thank you for this video and explanation. I have two question: 1) I am making the M size, so I finished the hexagon after 24th row. Now I have 95 stitches on the rows 2-6. When I do the hexagons extension for the left part, (sides 5 and 4) for 4 rows, I end up having 104 stitches instead of 109 and tried it many times. What do you think causes this? 2) Is the number of extension rows same for all the sizes? I mean, 4 rows of hexagon extensions and 8 rows of sleeve extensions, is that it?
Finished my two hexagon cardigan, it looks so good. My next project is the alchemy cardigan, I have received the full pattern and part 1 and 2 tutorial can't wait to bye my wool... love make and do crewxxxxxx
So happy for this tutorial! I’ve been attempting to start this project for a week and struggling with reading the patter and this is a life saver! Thanks!
I bought the pattern, did not know there's a tutorial. I am half way of making this cardi hope it going to be as good as the photo's, also bought part pattern of the alchemy pattern did not know it was only part pattern but glad to see the part 1 tutorialxxxxxxxx

@@makedocrew1717 I just found your channel and I've been watching your different sweater patterns. They all look so nice and your teaching style is spot on at least for me. I'm in no way a beginner at crocheting BUT I am brand new to making garments, I also have never learned to read a written pattern or diagram so I'll be learning how to read the pattern along with crocheting the item with your tutorials. Thanks so much for sharing your skills with everyone and especially for making the corresponding written patterns available for free. I look forward to being able to read and execute a pattern for anything on my own. Once I feel comfortable enough reading I'll be ready to actually buy a pattern and make the item without feeling as if I've wasted my money. God bless ❤️🙏🕊️🕯️

I always got confused on the guage, so hoping the video helps as I have the PDF. I never understood how its a J hook, but even when I went as low as a 4 mm hook, the guage was never right on the pockets -.- But i will eventually get this project done Love this pattern so much
When I used the written instructions for this pattern I found I had to increase each of the DC rows by 2 DCs in order for the stitch count at the end of each of those DC rows to match the written instructions. Ended up doing 3 DC, CH2, 3 DC in each of the corners (only on the DC rows) to make it come out as per the written instructions. This glitch was just for the hexagon part of the pattern.
When ever I count my sides I get different numbers to the pattern and cannot for the life of me find where I've gone wrong I've frogged so much but I'm determined to complete it perfectly
I use a little stitch counter, about halfway through my even rows, i count how many stitches are left to add and increase or decrease as needed right in the middle. My very last row (row 30, for a 5xl) i ended up needing to add 2 extra stitches on a couple of the sides. Be patient with yourself
Wow! What a nice pattern and good explaining in this video! I’ve got a question: Is there a reason why you’re alternating hook under and hook over during the making of one double crochet?

tip for making sizes with an odd number of rows: start the extension rows with RIGHT side facing, for example, the left side would be started on the corner of side 4 instead of 5
By entire round/row. Depending on the size, you can divide the amount of rows by 3 (each color). So pick your size, figure out how many rows that is (22, 24,26, 28, or 30) then add the extension rows, finally divide that number by how many times you wanna switch your color. That will tell you how many rows to do per color switch. Good luck!

Thank you for this video and explanation. I have two question:
1) I am making the M size, so I finished the hexagon after 24th row.
