There's a group of people on the internet who freak out whenever they see an axolotl that's not on a bare bottom tank with no other living creatures in it. I don't get it either
@@chrislock1950 those people freak out just because the gills look like worms to a lot of fish and can get eaten because of it. And if an axolotl eats a fish it can (but wont necessarily) get stuck in its gills. I think as long as you are keeping a close eye on things and actually looking after the fish and axolotl its not so bad. But there are risks involved mixing them. As long as you are aware of them and how to solve them

What nutrients do you use for the plants in the axolotl tank. Our plants our dying and we can’t figure it out and also what fish do you have in there as well with pancho?
you actually cant put plecos in with axolotls as they will attach to them and eat their slime coating off, overall killing the axolotl in an extremely painful way

Really appreciate the warning signs and the timestamps. I'm a big fan, but not at all interested in watching live feeding. And I deliberately stay away from the channels that make a big deal about their live feeding videos as they seem to attract viewers who really take joy in it. Not that I don't understand the necessity, in some cases, I'm just not interested in doing it or seeing it. So I'll watch most of the video, and click away at the appropriate time. Edit: Nevermind! I kept white clouds in with my axolotl for a long time! After a few months however he eventually got to all of them:/ oh well I saw it coming but it was real nice while it lasted! And now I just keep my axolotl with a lion head goldfish (too fat to be eaten🤣). Check out the channel I’ll post a video of them and their tank soon!
@@MDFishTanks if you want, have a look at the uk axolotl group on Facebook they are all very knowledgeable people, your axolotl does look good and the gills are healthy but the fish could potentially bite their gills. It's up to you though 😊 I wish my plants would grow as well as yours do btw
That’s not true its a myth. I’ve never heard of anyone with a fish nipping problem and when they do happen its an aggressive fish, I’ve even had white clouds with my Axolotl. If you think about it, it makes sense they wouldn’t bite there gills because what pray animal would put there face near a predator. Lmao
Uhh i know this is late, but do more research, he has minnows -cold water fish. And fine sand is fine for axolotls. The only thing i agree on is the bright lights, but then again she has hiding spaces.

The tank looks beautiful, but the best interests of the axolotl are being put off in favor of the aesthetics. This would be a beautiful tank for another organism. Also you should try and feed slightly smaller pieces of blood worms because Pancho is at a risk for choking. The snails really do need to be removed from the tank because once pancho is large enough he/she will try to eat the snail which could result in choking and/or internal damage. I’ve seen a couple people mention the fish in the tank as well. It is not a myth that the fish will pick at Pancho’s gills and eventually Pancho will try to eat the fish. If Pancho ingests the fish there is a chance that the cartilage could cause damage to the intestinal tract. Axolotl naturally feed on earthworms which are soft throughout. It is always best practice to house Axolotl alone. I also do not see a thermometer in the tank. The temperature of the water is extremely crucial for an axolotl. It should be maintained below 20 degrees Celsius which based on the amount of lighting that the tank receives, I doubt it is truly staying in that range. I don’t want to sound like I am nagging. I truly just have the best interest of the axolotl in mind.
This is my favourite tank, because (1) Pancho! And (2) it showcases the versatility of plants, from emersive to submersive. Finally (3) it's cleary an ecosystem, from the ferns outcompeting the moss, to dandelion flowers, germinating and taking up residence. So much of aquarium keeping is manufactured - because it has to be! But this set-up allows the ecology of the plants to determine their place, above and under the water. Which adds excitement and mystery, because you never know what's going to happen next!
Those boston ferns look absolutely phenomenal! I've always found ferns so challenging to keep healthy and luscious looking. Definitely my favorite tank!
The axolotl tank would look amazing if you replaced those big ferns with a small fern species which would leave room for more diverse smaller plants that would provide a better aesthetic

you should get about a dozen of Neon Tetras for the tank
neans are tropical and axolotls are temperate so they arnt compatible im afraid. Would be cool though.
The axolotl tank would look amazing if you replaced those big ferns with a small fern species which would leave room for more diverse smaller plants that would provide a better aesthetic
