I sure wish someone would do a SPEED TEST on a Residential Starlink with one test being a desktop computer directly to the Gen 3 Router and then another test to the WIFI. This way we can see how much better the speeds are (we assume) when connected to the ethernet port versus wifi. At this point with thousands of videos out there I have get to see anything do this test. Being that I plan on using mine (installing it in a few weeks) with my desktop computer connected directly to the Gen 3 router. Thanks in advance.
If you buy the kit and use it for one month then pause the roam service for a couple months, will they bill you for the full price of the kit? I mostly just need it during September/October hunting season.

The mini is smaller and has less power. So, the signal may be less with the mini than with the standard at the same test point. However, the mini can run off AC or DC and is powered separately, meaning not via the single cable to the dish like it does with the standard kit. The mini is more suited (at this point) for portable (mobile) applications.

Would I get the $100 off again? I am not going to have 2 sets of StarLink dishes and 2 services plans. I wonder how StarLink will handle that??

I live off-grid so I am always concerned about energy usage.. I heard this uses about 75 watts. Is that 24/7 or only when using it by perusing the web.?
@@deserthorizons It doesn't seem to make a difference. When it's on, it will use around 40-50 watts, maybe less sometimes, regardless of what you are doing on the internet. It does have a "sleep" mode that disconnects the internet and takes power consumption down to about 20 watts.

I would contact Best Buy to see if they will help you out. Otherwise, just return the original to Best Buy for a refund and purchase another. Starlink support can’t help since it was purchased from a 3rd party retailer.
So far it is working decently but I have to tweak it because it said signal is weak or will a mesh router help? I live in a rural area (house at bottom of a hill) and there are trees around but had satellite tv with no issues in the past
Mesh can help with Wifi signal issues. The weak signal is talking about your Wifi signal, probably from your phone to the main router. If you run the advanced speed test in the app you can see your Wifi Speed, that will tell you if your signal is limiting your experience. Additional mesh routers can help with that.

When it works, it is great. But beware that when it doesn’t work, you can not get any support. There is no number to call & you have to send an email. I have been without internet for days & still no response from their support. Totally worthless!!
Yes, this is a BIG downside to Starlink for a lot of people. I'm stuck awaiting a response to a message now. No way to get to a person to help, & I've spent over $1,700 on Starlink so far. When I tell people that $-figure & then tell them about the no-support problem--it's a definite turn-off for them.

I’ve did it with mine 285 to 300 with my gaming pc 30 to 40 for upload

The biggest problem with starlink is their very poor customer support.

The normal operating power is between 40-70 watts from what I've seen. Most of the time it's hovering between 40-50 watts.

Open the app, tap on the message that says "Router not configured". Or to go Settings, then Network. You can set a network name and password there.
Does starlink give military discount?
Starlink doesn't do any discounts like that, but if you have a Home Depot nearby you can buy it at the same price, plus get the military discount.
