Lucky enough to see J.I.D live in the U.K before all this happened, and i tell you what he doesn’t miss at all. His passion for what he does can be seen even more when he’s performing in front of you. I’m very grateful I’ve got to see an underrated legend
@@JonDenton Yeah man was sat in my college lesson when the tickets dropped I wasn’t missing out, went to the one in Manchester and I feel so sorry for your loss ahaha
Always so appreciative of the time you take to read into the stories behind tracks and really learn what is being said and understanding the power and gravity of the words and music. Easily my favourite reactor, thank you for another great breakdown.
I saw him in early 2019 a few months after DiCaprio 2 came out... good lord, it was incredible. Met him too, he was so easy to talk to and friendly even to some random fan. Best concert I've ever seen by far
"Rap game turned from the slingers to the fiends" is such a simple statement that I've never heard so perfectly put into words. As soon as I heard those first few bars, I instantly thought "I gotta see if JD posted a reaction to this yet"
I love how Jon uses his platform to actually talk about the impact of this song. The story this shit tells in insane and it’s fucking awesome to see someone with such a big following really exploring what it’s about.
Thank you for discussing the Tuskegee Experiment. I was unaware that this even happened, but I sadly can't say that I'm shocked to hear about more atrocities committed against Black Americans.
I appreciate you researching the experiments and talking about that, I heard it in the song obvs but this video has made me want to look into it. I've always loved JID but this song in its sound and JID's wordplay and the meaning just feels on another level to me, this might be his best song yet imo
I don't really see this written in the comments so I'll say it myself, I salute you Jon Denton. You could have easily just reacted to the song and leave it as that but you've researched and educated yourself and brought attention to it, so props. If you ever wonder how to help the black community this is definitely the way to do it, Black Lives Matter!
Jon you have grown into what I think is the best reaction channel on UA-cam. The way you take everything for exactly what it is and try to educate yourself and just absorb the music is fantastic. Thank you! -love all the way from Corpus Christi, Texas.
Bit late to the party on this vid but just wanna say Jon is on another level, how many reaction channels go researching the song of potential meanings and back stories to provide themselves with knowledge on the subject matter, most stick something on in a video for a quick buck, mad respect
Bro I love your reactions to JID, JoeyBada$$, Flatbush Zombies, Kendrick... u should find some of their more hidden music and react to some of those songs... U would absolutely love them
I love this reaction and I couldn’t agree more. JID is in my opinion the most talented rapper putting out music today. big respect to Jon and JID. love the review as always
The sample (see the storm by salty dog) could tie into the song because it features on a compilation album called welcome to zamrock which is about how after zambia was liberated and gained its independence from the remnant colonialism their music scene had a new birth, salty dog being one of the artists.
It’s crazy because he’s next up! I really think with this next album and from what I hear now he’ll be or at least should be put in that conversation of the next great generation of lyrical rappers behind the era of Cole, Kendrick, Joey, Lupe, Rapsody, etc...and he deserves it! Extremely talented & has a style that’s strong but unique to him.
This was awesome, another in depth review. Good work, JD. Also, would like to give you a suggestion of an artist to either listen to in your free time or to check out for a review on your channel. Holly Humberstone is someone who really deserves a lot more light then she's currently getting. Not sure if she's getting much play across the pond or not, in your section of the world. But, she's an INCREDIBLE song writer and singer. She's got music that isn't exactly the same as what people like Olivia Rodrigo, Phoebe, Lorde, or Taylor Swift are putting out, but it's just as good. She's the classic singer/song writer and I really do think you'd dig her. So, whether it's just your personal time or you decide to give it a go for a review... I think you'd love her. Be well, brother. Keep up the good work!
The podcast “you’re wrong about” has a really good 2 podcast show about the Tuskegee Study that goes into a lot of detail. There are so many horrible details that it’s hard to take in all at once tbh
I think that’s what this next album is gonna be. Also you don’t “need” a concept album to be considered the best, just cause it’s kendricks thing and he’s seen as the best now doesn’t mean everyone has to do that. Before Kendrick the best rappers alive were seen as Jay z, lil Wayne, Eminem, biggie, wu tang, etc And they got those titles without a “concept” album
