The salt marsh slack at Ynyslas has early marsh. It's open to the sea and floods until April. Honest!

Interesting ...... and surprising. Orchids in salt water ?

Yeah well, when I first found the sight about 20 years ago the staff on the reserve called it a 'salt-marsh' and qualified that categorisation with 'it's open to the sea,' I'm as flummoxed about that as you appear to be, but it does flood in the winter. Now, I want to test it by tasting the water when it next floods, and I'll let you know. Because I hadn't been there for so long, and I had to wait this year until the the flooding had subsided, I took a photo which shows its setting. How can I send you a copy? By the way, I'm learning a lot from your excellent videos, thanks.

As I've found myself, you can't post images on here. Somewhere up above is a link that displays my email address which would work.

Is that a big moth because the caterpillar is a snake ?!!!

@@OrchidHunter haha! Relatively large, smaller than an elephant hawk moth but larger than a hummingbird hawk moth, if that helps 🤣
