- When news of a very special discovery hits orchid social media, one simply has to start the car up and drive ...... no matter how far and no matter how long it takes.
Many thanks for the location help offered, without which I would have had no chance !

Stunning!
WOW what a gorgeous orchid thanks for sharing! Admire your dedication.
I think you spell it s-t-u-p-i-d-i-t-y !!!
Apparently a dozen plus var cambriensis were found at this site in 2019 which is local to myself..
There are approx 20 species of orchid and var within a twenty square mile radius of this location
Nice to see another bee variation. Shame the white one at Glinton hasn't returned, unless it's making a comeback this year!
I won't be checking this season but would be great if it did come back.
Love this, thank you. I'm a butterfly nerd and have been trying to find and photograph every UK species of butterfly for the past 10+ years (taken me so long because I can only do one or two a year!) I'm nearing completion now though and was pondering trying orchids next as I love them and thought maybe they'd be easier than butterflies as at least they stay in one spot! But reading about it, I think they'll be more difficult! Saw some lovely butterfly orchids yesterday though, while out searching for a particular butterfly species, so that was nice. :)
I started with butterflies and moved to orchids ..... I started to find other lepidopterists increasingly annoying out in the field and was happy to move on. Orchid fanatics seem to be a much nicer bunch !
Great video and nice to see loads of Common Broomrape in the first field you walked through. Broomrape Species seem to be having a good year.
There were so many of them that I convinced myself they couldn't actually be Broomrapes ...... there were literally hundreds of them !
Lovely video as always! Doesn't the fact that cambrensis is growing together with typical apifera suggest that c. is a mutant rather than a variety or subspecies?
I'm not sure they were with other Bees ..... just the one. I haven't taken time to read much on the original Cambrensis found in 2015 (?) but I'm assuming people botanically more clever than I am designated it a variation in its own right.
That’s amazing! What a stunning plant. Though not quite as impressive, I saw 4 O. Apifera Var Belgarum the other day along the A14.
Love Belgarums but they seem to be turning up in numbers over last two seasons ..... maybe they just went un-noticed before !
@@OrchidHunter it’s a first for me (that I’ve noticed) nice to hear that they are being spotted more.
Still a great find - I'm yet to see one this season so far !
