It's equally difficult to make friends all over Europe and I'd say the closer the family ties, the more difficult to make friends, because people aren't as interested in having friends. I found it far more difficult in Greece than in Germany to make friends. When it comes to finding company, that's more easy in southern Europe, because it's more common to hang out in big groups and to spend much time outside and because hospitality is seen as extremely important. But then you also have places like Scotland that are quite up north, but people are very much into hospitality and company.
South europe: more superficial friends but only if u are a national of that country. Try to mingle into circle of italian or spanish friends when u are the only american - wont be possible. They stay closed among themselves. Also of course they dont know english
Because Greeks, Italians, Spanish and Portuguese normally we get along with each other more than German and English speaking country. In the south of Europe we don’t really trust the northern. The abuse of alcohol here is a thing. Generally speaking in our colture a person who is over drinking is not trustworthy. So the people from US usually we don’t trust them in the long run because we see that they don’t have self discipline with alcohol or other stuff, everything must be done to an extreme level. We don’t like that and is funny to hang around for some time but not to be life long friend because: “how I am supposed to trust you if you behave like that?”. This is for sure a generalisation but is deep rooted.
I love how you guys make a very complex topic into something simple and straightforward. However, in the United Kingdom something very similar happens to what happens in Spain, we spend a lot of time in bars or pubs and it is easy to make friends there, but of course you have to speak the language of the locals. In an average Spanish city, coming not only from another country, but from another place in Spain, it is difficult to join a group of friends, except as a couple or as a work friend.
@carlos: there is also another difference. the Southern are more on the street yet doing less, while for instance if a German or Central European is there then they are more active doing and organizing different stuff. Most Southers are more 'hanging around within their rituals' (in tourist regions often also depending on the season) ...

7:36 that's probably mostly Germans who have lived abroad or from really small towns. Pretty much all of the Germans I've talked to who lived in the US for some time said that one of their biggest culture shocks was having the exclusivity talk since most Germans automatically assume you are exclusive after some dates or hookups. It is one of the few times that Germans are not direct. The Americans I know living in Germany (including myself) have been thrown off by this whenever we've dated Germans.
It seemed to me that in Austria there are soo many unwritten rules to follow while socialising to not be rude, while Germany seemed a lot more to the point. Things like when are you allowed to open your presents and stuff like that. It might also have to do with the specific people I stayed with in the two countries.
Just for the record, as a 66-year old American guy, who's been an expat in Europe for many years, it's important to point out that the current American trend of potentially dating multiple people early in relationships before going exclusive didn't exist when I was first dating my now ex-wife. At that point in the 1970s, we only went out with one person. So, it was relatively similar to France nowadays in that regard. After got divorced some 30 years ago, I was quite amazed that people did, in fact, date multiple people. So, the same culture can change.

Poland and Czech rather like to be considered as part of Central Europe (which they are, together with Germany etc.). The 'East' is more due to the cold war political sorting but neither historically correct before and after that - and it was never geographically ...

I’m 65 living in Colorado (USA) and have been using online dating for quite some time. The one thing I find glaringly obvious on a first meet is that women prefer an evening date as opposed to a coffee date. They’re fishing for a free meal regardless if there’s a follow up date or not. For your quizz, the 1rst question is about our gender or what are we seeking ? It's not clear enough...Add some short precisions as "you are" or "you seek"...
date is slang for scheduled appointment " what is your appointment date" you are scheduled for your court date blah blah blah..." context became a 3rd meaning when you say " i have a date " with what? court, the dentist, your secretary, your priest, wedding, and lazy teenagers would just respond " a date. you know " my german great grands and grands told me some about this when they were growing up..also how we got roads from deer paths and how those progressed from the wild west to todays civilization as i was watching all the local farms being turned into commercial and residential urban places. where i grew up is now corporate HQ for polaris industries. my great grandparents farms are now an interstate and state highway.
I'm portuguese and all my romantic involvements have been with foreigners. Remember being in the US for instance and dating felt like fishing with dynamite by comparison. On average every other european country just talking with a chick is easier too. Very surprised with the divorce rate statistic though. I wonder what that is all about.
My take on what she said about Portugal is that the men are not allowed to be men. Women are taking over even the science jobs so the men are seen as not as important and to be respected. Women won't follow a man they don't respect. Sorry that happened to you. I'm from the USA and had the same experience moving to South America. Finally got respect and dates.
As a Gen X American originally from New York, I do not believe it is common to date many people at the same time. It was frowned upon to date many people at the same time. People could only date someone else after the previous relationship was over. Of course, the rules would be different if the couple agreed to see more than one person. Overall though, I still think dating several people isn't popular. I do not know how younger generations date. And to be honest, I see Gen Z as a lost generation due to the fact they do not seem capable of getting off their phones longer enough to find a partner, kiss, have sex and a family. Dating apps are destroying dating. Sure it is easier to have a sexual fling, but a fling is not a long term, loving relationship. I remember a few months ago I saw a young 20-somethings having a dinner date in a good restaurant. They were both glued to their phones and never looked at each other. I was thinking it would have better if both of them stayed home in their own homes. It was quite sad. I will check out the other future videos about the nations of Europe
Gen Z roster dates because of ghosting. You meet let’s say 30 people on a dating app. You Snapchat them until it’s down to 10ish. You go out with 10ish, you date 4-6 seriously long term then you enter a monogamous situationship, then you become official. That’s dating now. Gen x dated back in the 1900s. Things are way more different now than even in the mid 2000s
I live half the year in Portugal and I had to pretty much had to stop dating Portuguese guys (That is a video that you should do. I have a PHD in this subject). The gay ones seem to be more closed or they just want to connect for one thing. They really don't like to date foreigners. I find that I have an easier time making friends with Portuguese women but I am not dating women.
Why not all the European countries in several episodes? I like this format, as well, and would appreciate if none of the countries would be left behind!

in Belgium its not really possible to date unless you are lucky the people only talk to you if they need something like directions maybe they will say good morning when they walk by .but unless you meet people at work or at some kind of hobby club its not happening but most of my hobbies are 90% men .people used to go to bars often but these days most have been shut down or there are only boomers or people who refuse to talk and i don't really like bars because everyone is drunk and the music is bad. i am not certain about other countries but i do know all my girlfriends were from different countries despite me meeting them in Belgium

Looking forward to the quiz! I think I'd be happiest with a Slavic man, or possibly Georgian 🤔 I appreciate men who are caring and affectionate but also protective and masculine.

I hope your next episode includes Eastern European and especially Balkan countries, they should show a big contrast to the Western counterparts :)
best vid ever as usual XOXO
Eastern Europe and Balkan countries please
For your quizz, the 1rst question is about our gender or what are we seeking ? It's not clear enough...Add some short precisions as "you are" or "you seek"...
Czech Republic and anything about Russia if u have such experience
date is slang for scheduled appointment " what is your appointment date" you are scheduled for your court date blah blah blah..." context became a 3rd meaning when you say " i have a date " with what? court, the dentist, your secretary, your priest, wedding, and lazy teenagers would just respond " a date. you know " my german great grands and grands told me some about this when they were growing up..also how we got roads from deer paths and how those progressed from the wild west to todays civilization as i was watching all the local farms being turned into commercial and residential urban places. where i grew up is now corporate HQ for polaris industries. my great grandparents farms are now an interstate and state highway.
@@lawdog369 exactly the case.
My personality is that I don't vocalize my opinion but I also am not nodding along. I just say 'cool that's your opinion'
In the age of dating apps where you pick your date akin to some product in a catalogue, it is.
For 8 years now - chapeau!
I finally subscribed
Eastern Europe and Northern Europe
I live half the year in Portugal and I had to pretty much had to stop dating Portuguese guys (That is a video that you should do. I have a PHD in this subject). The gay ones seem to be more closed or they just want to connect for one thing. They really don't like to date foreigners. I find that I have an easier time making friends with Portuguese women but I am not dating women.
Netherlands, please🤩
In my experience i've learned that Europeans are a tad more open to dating other ethnic groups than the US.
Just an observation.
Oh really? I think the Balkans heavily disagree
In my experience..@@jamesedwards1284
USA is extremely diverse, so I don’t know what you’re talking about.
if they are western europeans they have too much feminism so men prefer dating women from more traditional cultures.
Ok if you say so.@@Therockfan30
Why not all the European countries in several episodes? I like this format, as well, and would appreciate if none of the countries would be left behind!
That's the plan 🙂 I will make it about all European countries (Eastern European as well)

would like to know more about the Middle East region and central Asia wasn't really covered up here as well.I think people have so many misconceptions about the region and dating culture
All I know about Central Asia is that Kyrgyzstan has bride kidnapping, and the groom's mother lies across the threshold of the bride's room to prevent her leaving (stepping across one's body is considered very, very, very rude there) until she gives in.
In North America there is much less tolerance towards disagreement. Its infantile.
That emerged after 2014 when the “never hurt anyone’s feelings since its violence” movement emerged
Hey Marina!! We love your videos! I was in Frankfurt for a surgeon’s conference and I met my husband there. When we started dating,my German watched the videos about Brazil and I watched all the Germany ones.We embraced each other’s cultures ,we had a lot of fun watching ! It’s strange because I am now more German than he is and he’s completely relaxed being a Brazilian. We are married now (nooo living together…haha) , extremely happy living in Brazil and Frankfurt! Thanks Marina! You are awesome!!🇧🇷❤️🇩🇪
What a great story! Good luck to both of you and happy I took part in your relationship 😂 Many hugs ♥️
in Belgium its not really possible to date unless you are lucky the people only talk to you if they need something like directions maybe they will say good morning when they walk by .but unless you meet people at work or at some kind of hobby club its not happening but most of my hobbies are 90% men .people used to go to bars often but these days most have been shut down or there are only boomers or people who refuse to talk and i don't really like bars because everyone is drunk and the music is bad. i am not certain about other countries but i do know all my girlfriends were from different countries despite me meeting them in Belgium
I think most guys now agree that the dutch model is the best at least here in the US
Enrique Iglesias is from Spain.
Interesting topic and video :) But I no understand why are you spending sooo long time to talk about France and about Germany minimum ?
I hope some day you can do a video on dating culture in Latin America which undoubtedly has changed much since I lived there many years ago.
I am going to Mexico in a few weeks so stay tuned for Mexican content 🙂

Learn the language and drink a lot - mind regards from a dutch guy
@@jamesedwards1284 Bro but I don't drink it is against my religion??
@@pramit5000 damn u chose the wrong country to move to man
@@jamesedwards1284 But I can try to learn Dutch Language
@@pramit5000 i’d recommend it, it’s very hard to immerse yourself into existing friendships groups if everyone else has to switch to a different language. Besides, Dutch is a very easy language to learn. Side note, those dutch classes are a great place to meet new people.
Portuguese p«eople tend to find themselves more important than they are (ultima bolacha do pacote IN PORTUGUESE)
I personally want to date a Irish women. I will be moving to Ireland 2025 so how should I approach women in Ireland, how to know if they like you etc.
Do not approach women, they're grown and doing well for themselves. If they like you, they'll approach you.
@@Ed-xv4sydelulu
It seems like Irish women are alcoholics like Irish men and they like good banter. At least from the Irish UA-camrs I watch. Basically be funny and get sh!tfaced 🤷♂️
I think your doing a good job. Watched many of your vids. True the relationship market has changed dramatically.
We don't date in Europe. Strange concept.
the word does not matter. the concept/idea is still the same. you just go about it in a slightly different way. But if you have met a person, live with that person, exclusive but still not sure if you want to be with that person forever you are dating. A rose is a rose by any name.
it's so funny that you included that infamous clip of Enrique Iglesias
I am a bit addicted to watching him mess up all those concerts 😂
