Punk is a perfect example of being ungrateful & not seeing how blessed he is in the business. He wants to be put over like he's really the best, but he's actually just the best on the mic.
He doesn't respect the fact, most guys laying down for him, are LAYING DOWN for him. As in they'd beat his ass in a real fight.
Dude wants to cry like he was mistreated but he was given the world

@@joetheman8550 literally everyone was clowning at the creative for not making that match a triple threat for the title. There was NO reason why creatively they NEEDED to have another singles match for the CHAMPIONSHIP again at a Wrestlemania when 1, we’ve already seen it and 2, the first match was advertised as a Once In A Lifetime match. I know you guys might not be able to remember that & how vocal people were over the creative decision but I do lol.
They didn’t need to have another SINGLES match the year after their first match. That triple threat would have been bigger for most people that watch the product because it would have been a match we haven’t seen yet featuring 3 white hot superstars. A triple threat featuring those 3 WOULD have been a bigger draw than a singles match between Cena & Rock that we have already seen.
Punk was literally on a “longest world title reign” before Vince threw all of that out the window and have him drop the belt to Rock right before Mania. Idk where y’all were at during this time but all I can tell you was that creative decision was trash….but at least it gave us a great Taker match.

@@b-rye223 Your original comment refers to when it was Punk vs Jericho for the championship. Which did not need to go on last because it was the first time rock and Cena was going to wrestle each other (no match was going to top that, not only was it built up for a year in wwe, Cena and Rock was beefing in real life prior to before that match was even announced.) Now to your second comment. Yes they could have made it a triple treat, but then the story of could john Cena beat the rock would not really be answered because then people would be like well if it wasn't for Punk etc. Plus Wwe was looking at it from business side. Cena and Rock was guaranteed money as their previous match was one of the most talked about match (Not saying either of their matches were near the best on the card.) Also though Punk being chosen to fight the undertaker was a huge compliment to Punk. Undertaker just came off retiring shawn michaels and ending an Era with triple h, it made sense as a fan because really who else could they put against him at that time that you thought may be able to beat the streak.

His match with Taker was the match of the night and deserved main event. He may complain but he carried the company from 2011-2013, was champ for 434 days, made Vince huge sums of money via merch.

It is completely different. Jericho had a right to be upset because despite being featured in a high profile, he usually was treated as an afterthought. While Punk did have many PPV where you could make that argument, he also had some really high profile matches where he was very well taken care off, his match against Jericho being actually a great example of one where he was treated great.

But then what about the times punk wasn’t treated great? Cough Kevin nash cough HHH cough that’s when punk was hot and they completely screwed with him. Y2J should totally understand where punk coming from because Jericho was screwed as champ as well when facing HHH. And while Jericho can try to downplay the importance of the main event, the difference is Jericho DID main event a wrestlemaina whereas punk didn’t. And he did deserve a main event match that year. It also hypocritical of Jericho because he’s stated that he felt him and owens shouldve main evented that wrestlemania but instead they were the second match of the night. Jericho stated that frustration led to him going to new Japan and AEW

And Jericho said, " because in the eyes of the old man the last match is the main event" and the pay is better. Perfectly justified argument, that's why I don't get why he can't see CM Punks similar situation against facing the Undertaker at WM (which was a main event caliber match but not considered the official main event). That's all I'm pointing out, I mean if people want to bring it up as Jericho having seniority on the matter then I agree. But I don't think that's the case he's making here.

CM Punk is quite polarizing for me. I agree with him on a lot of things, and he should have been given the main event at WrestleMania at least once, but there are times when he just whines too much. The dude was WWE Champion for over a year, he got to be in a match against Undertaker at WrestleMania (which makes him part of the 24 wrestlers who have done it) and won back-to-back Money in the Bank Ladder Matches. Just saying, he got to do more than anyone else in the business. Gotta count your blessings and be appreciative of what you have.

I mean, I get what CM Punk is saying in a sense. When you really think about it, he deserved to main event WrestleMania 29 as the WWE Champion. He had one of the longest title reigns in a really long time at that point. I think they either could've had The Undertaker win the 2013 Royal Rumble Match & they could've done that same classic match like in real life, but it's in the main event & not only the streak is on the line, but also CM Punk's 504 day WWE Title reign is on the line as well. Either that or you have John Cena win the Royal Rumble & go on to fight CM Punk one on one, which The Undertaker could fight Chris Jericho & The Rock could fight Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 29, or you can just do a Triple Threat Elimination Match with CM Punk defending against The Rock & John Cena with Punk being eliminated within the 5 minutes of the match & this will lead to Rock & Cena duking it out most of the match, which leads to John Cena getting the win.

Based on what I’ve heard other wrestlers say about cm punk I think some of those ideas would’ve worked but not the last one. That would’ve put him in the main event but then I feel like he would’ve complained that they didn’t treat him like he was the champ if he got eliminated like a few mins in and the match became primarily rock v cena. Idk tbh I think his first run with wwe was just doomed and it was never gonna work out no matter what they did because if you really look at it punk talks about that time in his career like he got treated like shit and wasn’t valued at all but he clearly was. They gave him one of the longest reigns that had happened in awhile, they had him feuding with the biggest stars besides himself like cena and he even got to have a couple matches with the rock, they put him with heyman who primarily only works with guys who they have big plans for like lesnar or Roman etc. I just think he’s one of those guys man we’ve all met or known someone like him where no matter what they just aren’t happy most of the time. Also triple H has talked in the past about how he would never talk to him. He’d hear punk wasn’t happy in his position of talent relations so he’d go have a sit down with him and anytime he did he wouldn’t tell him anything he’d just lie and be like everything’s fine man so I don’t think he even really tried to communicate a lot of his grievances he just complained to peers who would then take it to hunter and it was just a cycle that never got anywhere

Being in the best match means you were in the main event is the most often used excuse for why certain guys don't get to close out the show. In boxing the closer is always the main event. Same goes for MMA. It's the fight that the ppv is named after. It's the one that gets the most hype. It's the fight everyone pays to watch. Everything else is considered filler in the eyes of the paying viewers and the live audience. It's no different in Pro Wrestling. The most hyped up match at the event that Jericho was talking about was John Cena vs The Rock. It was the one people paid to see and it closed out the show. The closer is always the main event because it's the match that gets the most attention.

Punk should have waited for his opportunity instead of complaining. Punk only got hot from 2011 and then he quit in 2014 before WM. So he only really had WM 28 (2012) which was Rock and Cena, WM 29 (2013) which was Rock and Cena and then he left before WrestleMania 30. WM 27 I never understood why he thought he deserved a spot above the Miz who at the time was clearly the top heel in the company, with nuclear heath, really massive crowd reactions. Back then he was hanging out with a bunch of geeks, the Straight Edge Society or whatever, that very few people cared about (despite Punk thinking they were mega over).

If you're in WWE and you want to be the top guy YOU WANT TO BE IN THE MAIN EVENT. Punk wanted to be the best and that's why he was determined to be there. If you look at past WWE Champions like Kofi or Big E or even Cesaro , you can see why they aren't big stars: they don't want to be the best. They are okay with just being there.
Punk wasn't wrong in any of his ideas. Nobody wanted it like Punk

No disrespect to Chris Jericho. He was great in his day. But his style of wrestling was always predicated on his youth and athleticism and he just can't do those moves effectively anymore. And I just don't see a match between Jericho and CM Punk drawing big money, and that's what it's all about. You've got 2 veteran guys who have both lost a step (Jericho more than Punk) and I just don't think it would work. If you're going to bring Phil Brooks back, he should be there to help get some of these floundering younger guys over. Put him in the ring with Wardlow, Hobbs, Takeshita, Pillman Jr or Brock. Those guys need someone who can help elevate them. He shouldn't come back to wrestle another wrestler even older than he is and with even less mobility in the ring.
