    It is the best piece of gear I own.
    The Workflow is superb.
    This is where TE excels the most.
    But you have to be cautious - the products are very addicting - I bought the PO-12 initially.
    Shortly after, all other Pocket Operators and the OP-1.
    Worth every cent.
    I love you TE :')

    I've been following UA-cam videos about op1 for about 6 months now and I have to say its evident that this little piece of music engineering is an actual masterpiece. I wonder if there's going to be an OP-2 with a bigger screen and 2 speakers and more connections and memory for recording in the near future. I definitely want one!

    Hi I have a question. When I’m playing in recording mode my sound is lower than when I’m playing in synth or drum mode. I turned up the orange line up all the way in recording mode but it’s still not as loud. This is annoying because when I play freestyle on a beat, I play in synth mode because I run out of tracks, and then the instrument is louder than everything else. Is it supposed to be like that? Or maybe there’s something I can do.

    • @teenageengineering
      @teenageengineering  4 роки тому +1

      hello kk. when you are in synth or drum mode, the sound is bypassing the track level settings. compare pressing synth then shift + mixer as opposed to tape then shift + mixer. play on the keyboard in both modes and note the white downwards arrow over the corresponding track in the signal path. to get the same volume make sure that the currently selected track has its mixer level setting set to 99. hope this helps!

    Hi I don’t know if you still respond to this but Is there a way to synchronize my sounds to the tempo? Because right now I’m always messing up my rhythms by like milliseconds and then when I replay the beat the drums kinda are falling behind on beat and my synth is doing the same. I’m using tempo but I’m still kinda bad at it. Do I just need to get better? Or is there something that puts it on beat for you? Thank you

    • @teenageengineering
      @teenageengineering  4 роки тому +1

      heya marky, sure thing. thank you for your question. some suggestions:
      1) press tempo and turn green to access 'beat match'.
      2) adjust the bpm to your liking (blue) and turn the metronome up (orange) if you need it.
      3) now press tape to return to tape screen. notice the white beat markers. these indicate the first beats of each bar.
      4) hold shift and press stop repeatedly. this is adding sub-divisions within each beat, from whole bars, 1/2 bars, 1/4 notes, 1/8th notes, and return.
      5) hold shift and press < and > to jump between these markers.
      now you can split, lift, drop and join takes with more precision. if you want to offset a take, place the play head over the take, hold shift and turn blue to slide the take back and forth (if there is silence before and after). this should hopefully help you to make sure your beats stay tight enough if needed.

      teenage engineering thx. Also is the black square button the stop button because I hold shift and spam the button and no new white beat markers appear. Also I made a beat with 4 beats using the arrows and timed the loop perfectly, but when I start recording with the drums, once it reloops the drum makes a loud sound in the beginning , like a screech. I checked if I recorded it right and it sounds normal when I first play it but once it loops the first drum makes a screeching noise. Is there anyway to fix this? (Also what is beat match on tempo supposed to do?) sorry for all the questions I just started again lol

    Great video! Is there a way to use the Op-1 looper exactly like a loop pedal? So for example once a loop is finished just press one buton and have it automatically played back for listening or overdubs (as opposed to press stop twice and then start to hear it back on the video).
    I work as an accompanist for dance classes, I use an RC-505, a drum pad and a microphone, I would like if possible to reduce my setup to one piece of equipment.
    I can't setup a tempo/click track, or spend time editing a loop once recorded, what I normally do is just start playing when the teachers counts me in, and then at some point I loop a couple bars and then keep overdubing on top.
    Do you know if the Op-1 could work like that?
    If someone has an idea of a piece of gear that could do all that in one (basically something like the Akai force, but with the ability to loop without a click track), I'd be eternally gratefull :) !!
    Thank you!!

    Hey Guys, have been looking to get some help with some issues I'm facing with the OP1. Was wondering if you could suggest what I could do? I haven't used the OP-1 in a while, but recently when I charged the OP-1 & started it, I have been facing issues I never experienced before.
    In the Synth Mode: the blue encoder doesn't select synth-engines, however, all 4 encoders allow me to select the patches in the green list. On pressing the Tape Key, it is directly getting into the Erase Tap function, without having pressed down the Shift key. And when playing the synth, the arrow keys allow me to bend the note, without having to press the Shift key with it. But the arrow keys don't seem to change octaves anymore, it is almost as if the Shift key is pressed down constantly. A similar issue with the Help key, pressing it takes me directly into the tools setting instead of it indicating how much battery I have left. I did, however, do the Factory Reset, but the problems haven't gone away.
    I'm sorry to be bugging you with these queries, but it's fairly difficult to get any help with the OP-1 in India. I came across your video and was wondering if you could suggest what I could do? Any kind of help or advice would be great. And thank you very much for the help in advance.

    • @lopodyr
      @lopodyr 3 роки тому +1

      Hello!
      You can record all 4 tracks on the album by pressing the COM key. Then, record the album back into tape by pressing the red MIC button on the upper right corner and choosing resample (the ear symbol) as your input method. This allows you to record the album back on the tape, all merged into one track.
      This can get a bit fiddly however to make sure you are on time with the tempo.
      Alternatively, you can lift and drop the content of one of your tracks to have an empty one. Let’s assume you chose track 4 to be the empty one. Take your part on track 4 and move it somewhere safe, on an empty slot, somewhere else on the tape. You will get back to it later.
      Like before, you can use the MIC button with the resample option to record tracks 1-3 on track 4, all merged into one. Make sure to mute the empty track you are using as a carrier (if it’s track 4, by using Shift+4 below the screen) to avoid feedback. This allows to keep perfect timing, also allows to merge all tracks while not destroying the original parts, because it essentially makes a copy.
      This is perfect for building variation over a repeating part.
      Since you wanted to merge 4 tracks, note that you can:
      1 - Move the content you want to keep from track 4 to an empty, safe spot on the tape,
      2 - Record track 1, 2 and 3 onto track 4 using the method above,
      3 - Move that newly recorded, merged block onto a free slot on tape, in order to layer it alongside the original track 4 part mentioned in step 1 of this list,
      4 - repeat the merging process by recording all the layered tracks onto a free one that you muted.
      5 - You have track 1-4 merged, while keeping the originals separate in case you need to get back to them! And they are in time!!!
      You can do that as many times as you want!
      If you know you will need more than 4 tracks for the song you are working on, you can try to leave track 4 empty all the time. This way, whenever you need more tracks, you always have an empty track to record to, in order to merge and make some room for more layers.
      I hope this can be helpful 🙂
