Wow, Wow, Wow! Now if a man wanted to show his love for me, he could bring gift bags full of items like you have on your counter…forget the diamonds (unless they are large). Such lovely vintage items. That musical elf is magnificent. You managed to increase my heart rate with this video.
Well, my retinas are likely to be permanently damaged and have a little moisture. Missing my 50's childhood and folks. How I remember those things, and thank you so much!
i had tears as soon as i heard the music box at the beginning of your video. it took me right back to Christmas time in 1974 or 75, when i lived in England and saw a Santa music box in a store front window but couldn't figure out where the store was. finally after several confusing weeks, i found it down a very narrow sidewalk which ran along the side of the store front window building to a little garage-sized building secreted behind the larger building. there i found my Santa music box, bought him, and brought him home. he'd been stored away since i moved in May 1996, and then in mid-October 2015, while sorting and down-sizing for another move, i found him once again. i almost donated him to the good will, but sentimentality won me over and i kept him. after all, he was hard won. what's not to love about that? maybe this year i should take him out of storage, display him, wind up his music box, and reminisce. *:-)*
Scott, you always bring me cheer. I don't think anyone could watch one of your videos and not smile. In case anyone hasn't told you lately, thank you and God bless. 💛
My 2 year old granddaughter loves Christmas songs. She will sit with me and pick her songs to listen and watch. She mainly likes Christine , Jingle Bells is currently her favorite. I adore the tree hangers on the pipe cleaners.
Two thumbs down?? Who can give a thumbs down to a vintage Christmas video?! Especially coming from the Old Curiosity shop. We appreciate all your videos Scott. You find the most amazing pieces to share with us. And oh how we love all the info on everything. Have a Merry Christmas in August! Thank you for lifting our spirits!
I have an old Santa light, although he no longer lights up. Seems like my folks had it before I was born, but he’s always been a part of my Christmas times. Don’t know where he was made. He has a very jolly face on him, and he’s made of glass as well. I love him soooo much. Thanks for doing Christmas in August. We can all use some cheer. Thanks again. (Very hot in SoCal with high 90’s and over 100 too. Ugh. I hate the heat. Always have.)
Once again you have out done yourself, by far this is your best haul of this year, Merry Christmas Scott & Salem...& let’s hope it’s a Better New Year...we are done with 2020
Everything is so precious, I love the worn and torn look on the pieces. But some want them in mint condition, But for the crafters who want to just touch the pieces up, those fine tip paint pen's makes it very easy to touch them up.
I am so looking forward to Christmas this year, this was amazing, thankyou, count my blessings every day, and having your family with you on Christmas day is one of the greatest gift from God..
The Santa candles bring back a lot of memories. I still have some holiday candles like that, including a Santa. Back in the late 50's and early 60's, we could buy those at the grocery store. The smaller sized ones were 5 cents and the larger size was 10 cents, and mine still have the original price stickers on the bottom. Yes, "We Need a Little Christmas Now!" What a great array of fantastic holiday decorations!
Every lady needs a Vintage Christmas Corsage!! Love everything Scott! I'm very blessed to have many of my Grandparents Christmas ornaments & decor from the 1940s & 50s!
I LOOOOVE the little guy on the horse! I don't know why, but when so many materials are mixed together in one piece those are my favorites. He looks like velvet flocking, mercury beads, gold rik rak, spun cotton, the gold glittered star, and the little garland tail flourish! Hey when it comes to Christmas, for me more is more! Definitely a maxamalist.
I really enjoyed this video. So nice to have Christmas in July and August. My Mom is 86 and I think of all that hard work she did to make sure Santa came. She would come out of those department stores with things like those on your counter....a big smile on her face.Tickled to death. She had one of those little red elfs made of cloth. I played with it all the way home. Those bulbs look beautiful just sitting in the boxes. Thanks for the memories
I can absolutely picture you creating the grand old department store displays like they had at Bamberger's, B Altman, Bergdorf Goodman, etc. You have a real talent with visual displays. Thanks for the cheer - this perked up my mood. The Nordic Trojan Horse mcm piece is my fav!!
Tanenbaum and Jingle Bells in August, oh my!! Adore that musical elf, nicest one I've seen. 🤣🤣🤣 Sitting here with my yarn and crochet hooks getting a start on holiday gifts🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 TFS!
What a lovely Antique Santa and deco Christmas. I really like the large Santa, never saw one that huge. Well the Santa's are larger on the coast. Have a happy day. 👼🎅🤶👼🎅🤶👼🎅🤶❤❤❤❤❤💚💚💚💚💚❤❤❤❤❤💚💚💚💚💚💚❤❤❤❤❤💚💚💚💚💚❤❤❤❤❤💚💚💚💚💚💚❤❤❤❤❤💚💚💚💚💚❤❤❤❤❤❤💚💚
Good morning Scott, lovely 'present'ation! And Merry early Christmas to you... I admire a happy heart, and your's is beautiful. Off for coffee and a snap of my own. Happy listing, Susie
From your 73 year old friend in Birmingham Alabama. Yes, I remember Christmas corsages. Grandmother wore them, mother wore them, and I wore them we had different colors and varieties to match our outfits! Thanks for the memory!
I have a cookie plate that matches that green holly candlestick. Every year when I was a kid, I grave all the women in the family one of those tacky corsages.
Cheers, I’m toasting you’re Christmas in August with my vintage-ish looking 1995 Fitz & Floyd Santa mug. Not old but offers a lot of cheer with each drink.
My mom has a lot of this stuff in her crawl space under her house. I would love to pull out her boxes and look through her vintage things. She no longer decorates so it just sits there.
Looks like Santa hit the egg nog one too many times! LOL! I have a Santa similar to that - 60's. I have fond memories of the Gurley candles and little figurines. We set a small scene. I would love to play with them.
Hmmmmm I love coffee☕ And I do live in Arizona and I don't care how hot it is, I have to have 3 to four cups🤗 Lol I love Christmas and I think I'm going to start decorating early this year 😊
Yes,Scott we need a little Christmas cheer in these troubling times. Brings back memories of a fresh cut tree strings of bubble lights and a gold start on top.watching a black and white tv with Christmas shows.Ozzie and Harriet and commercials .jingle bells was a favorite. Thank you for the memories and I'm hopeful as well my faith and staying positive has gotten me through hard times. Love to hear Salem at the end given us a merry Christmas as well.Until next time.
YAY! I'll admit I was a bit disappointed in your 'skin of you teeth' Christmas in July post. Today, you more than redeemed yourself and gave all of us a wonderful vintage Christmas spot we can review to get us through until Christmas 2020. I'm always looking for vintage Christmas. Yours are the vintage posts I look forward to...guess it's because you make it a "total package" with the music, old film clips, and everything you do to add to our vintage few minutes daily. I'm in NC and just discovered your channel about the time we all had to "stay home" in March. Your videos always make my day!
I enjoyed your Christmas in August display. What memories. I have a couple of the little do dad's. The musical elf so precious. I hope you saw a couple of memories. A hopeful heart is always encouraging. We have alot to look forward to. It's relaxing here a little where I live, Pacific Northwest. We have two church services with spacing and masks. You take care and don't forget to give Salem a cuddle for Mr. God Bless
Awww a man who's after my heart so many thing bringing back Christmas memories. Love the two Santa's on the chimney, the candle holders, the mouse and the squirrel. Love the elf music box and all the Shiny bright ornaments. Please,Please if you ever find Shiny bright indented ornaments I'll buy them. When we were kids we used to poke them with our fingers. Unfortunately we have none from my parents because of it. Thanks for warming my heart and the trip down melancholy lane. Thanks for the memories. Cheryl 💟💝🐱💜😾💖😽💚😻💗😸 love to you and Salem.
So many gems to look at...I'll be bidding on a few, but your fans will outbid me & I'll sit back and watch the prices soar...grr!---I don't decorate much, family is scattered, can't spend time comingling, have to keep myself safe in order to care for Hospice patients, but it's hard to put a price on a memory...(well, I have to draw the line at how much my memories will cost me!)---Thanx for the cheery words...
@Time4Clocks I bought a plaque once with a saying I value: "TO THE WORLD YOU MAY BE ONE PERSON, BUT TO ONE PERSON YOU MAY BE THE WORLD". My nursing career has had many aspects, but all of them have been like that for me.---Thank-you for your kind words.
Do you remember ice-cycles (spelled wrong) made of lead ?? My Mother would get sooo mad at me for balling them up. Then when the shinny plastic silver ones came out she found me melting them on the Xmas lights & stitching them out real long. Oh the memories ! :-)
I do, it was my job to straighten them all out with a spoon! And mom would not let us put them on, only she would put a single strand on each branch!😂😂😂

I am now convinced that you have a time machine, you go back in time and bring back stuff. This Christmas collection has convinced me of that.
Well, my retinas are likely to be permanently damaged and have a little moisture. Missing my 50's childhood and folks. How I remember those things, and thank you so much!

At 13.08 they often had silk netting which dry rots over the decades. Heat from attics are rough on that stuff.
