Really appreciate you comparing the plugins! Funny you mention Drake - A number of his big hits were done using Xpand 2 by his producer/engineer 40. It was one of the best plugins to use for R&B in the late 2000s - 2010s. I traded my Motif ES for NI Komplete and Xpand 2 back then…it came with my Protools 8 rig so this thing is like 15 years old and still decent. I believe the guys who created Xpand 2 now built the plugins like Fabric XL for the MPC Key 61. Those sound really good and likely much closer quality wise to the VSTs like Omnisphere. The great thing about Xpand 2 is it takes up very little space and loads super quick. Purity was another that to my ears isn’t as realistic as Xpand 2 but for some artist’s music, that works well. DaBaby & NBA Youngboy records seem to have a bunch of Xpand and Purity presets in them.

I made bangers with Xpand, like you mentioned run it through amps and different processing and it's that much better. You ever go into Omnisphere and take off the effects and you notice the importance of them.
This is my starter plugin in any music projects as it is simple, low resource and low cpu with decent sounds. Once my idea is laid out I can replace tracks with better sounds one-by-one at a time without worrying about latency, glitches and other issues. So great plugin in my view.
Not to mention the fact that its 3 different presets from 3 different vst’s so of course they are gonna sound differently its not like you picked the very best presets from all 3
Got xpand2 for 5$, for this pric is absolutely valuable, for 75$ (common price i guess) i dont know... it’s definitely a fire vst, the only thing i miss about it is that you cant make presets from scratch like omni o serum, only stack them together.

It will take time and effort to get exceptional sounds yet it's in that process of learning that make an artist. Tools don't make the art, the artist makes the art. There's also nothing wrong with downsampled presets depending on what you create.
If ypu ever used the Roland JV-1080 you'll recognise what this plugin is. In theory, anything you could do in a studio, back in the day, using a 1080 as the backbone of the track, you can now do with a decent DAW and Xpand. In fact I've tried recreating various 1080 patches in Xpand and many of those iconic sounds can be recreated pretty authenticity. Xpand doesn't cover all the ground that the 1080 expansions do, but does cover what comes built into the 1080, and more. The sound quality doesn't compare to Omnisphere or dedicated instrument libraries (especially acoustic), but neither does the 1080 any longer. 100s of top 10 huts were written using the 1080... no reason why Xpand can't be used as creatively now. Add a good saturation plugin and a desk emulation for EQ and you can recreate the 80s and 90s sound and quality. If you're after a more modern quality Xpand is still really useful for "thickening" up sounds... beefung up pads, bass and leads etc. The 1080 is still being bought and sold and used in studios for what it's good at. Xpand is a really cheap and reliable alternative to getting your hands on a 1080.

But it's not 1991 anymore. The loops are useless unless you're trying to re-produce something from a different era. The synths, percussion, basses, etc. are great. Also I have Analog Lab V for my Rhodes and pianos and analog synths. Would Heatup 3 fill my Modern Synth and pop void? Thanks in advance. By the way, awesome presentation as usual!
I like Expand but the ui is tiny on larger monitors. The preset menu especially so. Air have not updated their old products, they only release new instruments which are partially based on old code but they ask you to pay when imho they should update their past apps uo making it scalable.

I havent but i did do a Heat up 3 review!
True
pls do a "in depth" video covering the KORG triton! i just got the korg collection last week and loving the triton. You should also do a 'hardware' overview/review, im looking for a better MIDI keyboard, i just got a nektar impactLX 61 but im looking for something with higher quality keys. Whats the main midi keyboard your using? whats your go-to midi keyboard? Thanks for what your doing for us!
i can do that!! and im doing reviews on 3 midi keyboards in the next few episodes so i got you covered!!
Especially Triton strings are superb and blend in almost any mix
Its a great VST for beginners . I got it for free though . Keep in mind that VST is mad old and can still rep in the mix .
yes sir i agree!
This vst is definitely worth it!! I picked it up for 4$ at plug-in boutique.
cheaper than a big mac!
i already got omnisphere but there are so many sounds that i don't like and to find a good sound takes 30 mins so I'll give that one a try
I got it for free when I bought my keyboard and I never used it so hearing that Xpand2 is preferred over Omnisphere got me interested because I wanted to buy Omnisphere 😂
Great video
That mc d reference though Ahhaha ..still solid overall I miss hypersonic 2 that vst was awesome so that’s why I picked tis one up on the low way back but it’s different you know
Great video . What’s the guitar song you play at 5:00?
Right now, I’m not ready to pull the trigger on Omnisphere because of price. I have Xpand! already. Is Heatup 3 really a great rompler with great strings, brass and meat and potato sounds? Also I have Analog Lab V for my Rhodes and pianos and analog synths. Would Heatup 3 fill my Modern Synth and pop void? Thanks in advance. By the way, awesome presentation as usual!
Which heat up expansions are ur favorite as well
good question there are way to many to name but i will in a future episode!
I like Expand but the ui is tiny on larger monitors. The preset menu especially so. Air have not updated their old products, they only release new instruments which are partially based on old code but they ask you to pay when imho they should update their past apps uo making it scalable.
Hey bro, which vst do you recommend for hiphop/r&b/soul?I saved some cash for it and I’m leaning toward Omnisphere 2, I would love to hear from you I’m going with your opinion for sure!
I would buy it, after watching your video
Thanks you
It'll help me for beginer
Have you checked out Vocal Finalizer?
nope never heard of it but i'll check it out homie!
Xpand keeps being a GOLDMINE! I got it for like $5 and it just keeps getting better and better. There have been so many times I'll spend 20 or 30 minutes searching for sounds in Kontakt just to create my own sounds in Xpand that are even better than I was trying to find to begin with.
Where did u buy it at ?
@vince473 Thats what I'm wondering bc on the site it's $100
What do you think of Vortex by Cymatics?
*I like the sound of Heat up three, The bass in omni was nice.
just picked it up doing a review on it soon!
@@SweetScaleTV I picked it up came free with Diablo ...not bad for the price..
I bought IT for a Million Yen back in the 2000s
sheesh its all good though!
@@SweetScaleTV 😁
Very helpful!!!!
Thanks Jade!!
