  • The "earthlodge / Beadwork in Progress" series shows the process of my beadwork projects from the beginning to the end.
I used dye on this moccasin the very first time and really like its effect.
This method is trendy among the Southern Plains Tribes, such as Comanche, Kiowa, and Cheyenne.
The background music is the Victory Songs / Red Leaf Singers, Rosebud, SD.
My beadwork design is influenced by various tribal styles. I appreciate and love all forms of beadwork and my creations are based on what I've learned combined with my own personal take and approach. I am not looking to reproduce any particular tribal style. I am simply taking elements I like personally and incorporating them into my work.

Thanks for sharing your work with us. Great beauty. I have made over thirty pair of Plains style mocs, and I am still learning.

You blow my mind every time you create moccasins. Do you get látigo from crazy crow for the soles? I’m using veg tan leather but not thick enough to sew them like you do.

Thank you for your compliment!! Yes, I am using Latigo from Crazy Crow. I used to use the same kind as you, but now I use only Latigo. I recommend buying hides instead of precutting soles, which is more economical and you can choose the right thickness.

I do not have a tutorial but there is some video on UA-cam. I also recommend the book "Native American Moccasins / A Craft Manual by George M. White"
