First of its kind mini-Macy’s comes to San Diego

- The grand opening of Macy’s small format store at Santee Trolley Square gathered a large crowd for doors to open. This location is the first in San Diego County and California, CBS 8 reported in May.
“I had it marked on my calendar and I got up extra early to be here,” Macy’s customer Beth Bowden said.
The retailer designed this new format as a way to make shopping quick and convenient for customers.
“It avoids traffic especially with a toddler and a child and a baby," Macy's customer Carolina Rodarte said. "It's something that I really like, the convenience,” she said.
The store is about a fifth the size of a standard Macy’s department store with clothes, cosmetics, fragrances and more.

Half of the stuff at department stores is garbage. I welcome a smaller department store with quality stuff. Macy's is my favorite department store. I still have clothes I bought from there 10 years ago.
As a former employee of Bullocks Willshire in La Jolla I saw the demise of our beloved Bullocks when Macys bought them and they all eventually closed. I moved back East where Macys bought Kauffmans, another well loved chain, changed the name and closed them. Macys was a job destroyer coast to coast. You wonder if they may still be here if Macys kept their grubby hands off them!

It looks like a Ross and not quite a Kohl's and certainly Target has similar things, but options are always good. Not quite sure why anyone would say they were waiting for something like this since Target and Ross are at this center and Kohl's just down the street.
