You need to block off the end of the pipe leading into the cabin otherwise you’ll pick up all the random rattles and noise of the engine bay. I found a suitable sized bottle cap and blocked it off with insulating tape and cable ties. First attempt fell once and that’s why I know it makes a massive difference.
Hey Steve, jubilee clips don’t distribute force evenly around the fitting - they tend to pinch either side. Proper hose clips (like the one that broke) do. It could be you’re losing that small amount of boost because of this. If I were you I’d swap out the jubilee clip and repeat the 3rd gear pull. Great video BTW 👍
Interesting. I don't have a boost gauge in my Fiesta ST. Ripped the symposer out and plugged the line with Dorman 02600 expansion plug. I like the quieter cabin. It also feels like throttle response is better and it gets up to speed just a bit quicker.
There's a lot of variables when testing boost, engine / intake temps, humidity maybe can affect it, so best to test multiple times, but I think you should start by making sure the symposer delete plug is nice and snug.
johnny come late, but as an owner of 3 turbo'd cars todate - imo its simply a case of your turbo having to produce less boost for the same about of HP without the symposer. It's like having a free flowing exhaust - your cars boost will drop off completely but produce exactly the same power. It's when you turn the boost back up to what it was that you'll get the full effect of the upgrade.
not sure if you read my comment on one of your other vids but i mentioned doing this its a complete no brainer, along with quick shift and rear engine mount :), glad you have done this though
Hi bluntyr5gtt. Yes I remember your comment and took it on board. I plan to do the 2 other bits soon.what brands are you using? Thanks for watching and commentimg.
Very interesting video and well put together. I have a 2013 Focus Titanium X, similar engine as yours. Great to see somebody make a video on it, keep up the good work.
Really enjoying your videos, fellow ST owner. You have a lovely family and it makes a refreshing change to the other FiST channels. Also my old tutor was called Steve and he was welsh, do you know him? ;)
Gretsch video, I purchased the symposer delete kit for my ST, with the agency power exhaust system I thought it was a better combo to delete the symposer so I can hear more of my exhaust sound.
Hi. I have thought about an exhaust but it would need to be a quiet one to avoid the drone. Iv read the standard exhaust is good for 300bhp plus so will probably leave it along and do intercooler and sport cat so I can go for more power. Thanks for watching and commenting..
Are you a mechanic steve ? Your videos are great and from a fellow welshman and mechanic i must say i tale my hat off to u Great content. I fkn hate fords but watch ur stuff cause ur vids are great
Maybe the bung is leaking boost around it's edges? Ah well, if not atleast it's a lot more quiet now hopefully. Sometimes i think it's too much with the drone on a little uphill highway.
It could be different Temp outside when u did the two pulls since when u have the symposer on it was racing so the air temp was cooler which means more boost
Cant you just unhook the hose, rubber band a sock around the end to keep dust out. Then rubber band a sock around the symposer? I know that sounds ghetto but would that produce the same result sound wise? I just thought I might try that temporarily until I have time to do what you did. What do you think?
Could be dropping boost because of the recirc and actuator mate. When I had mine with cp2 on the dyno it peaked out at 228bhp on the first, but 2nd it was 190ish. Haven’t had a problem since getting a forge recirc. But from day to day use, you probably won’t notice it that much as you say when driving it 👌
Were the two runs (before and after installing the symposer) equal in terms of rpm? If so, although it doesn't hit the 21psi, it maintains much more boost at the top end.16 versus 18 psi is i'm not wrong.
They were both 3rd gear pulls from about 2000 rpm up to 6rpm give or take. I shall take a look again. I only really looked at peak to be honest. Im still yet to check for a leak but the car drives great. Il watch the vid back now to see how they compare again.
The symposer was an absolute bitch to get off mine.... the clip is real hard to get a grip on and even with the clip off the symposer wouldnt budge (tried WD40 but wouldnt shift)...it seems like it was glued inside the rubber pipe. In the end and with my opinion now, I just used a stanley knife to cut the whole symposer off ( only need to cut about an inch below the clip)......you can then get the clip off the removed bit of pipe and secure it on to the new cap
Is it me, or did it sound the same? Must be a thing to which you have to be in the actual car to experience properly, instead due to audio on a video. Great video either way, informative :) cheers
I prefer mine with 👌 and ..... not gonna lie I’d be concerned that there is a little less boost without it ..... odd and weird .... can only guess it’s leaking by and I’d check the fit. Good luck bud good video
Yeh I'm a bit concerned too. Iv not driven it since and as I had the family with me I only did the one pull. So it needs a thorough check over this weekend. Thanks for watching.
Spark Plug Steve I always find a good place in mexico and do a number of pulls to see what it does before and after anything I ever do rather than looking at boost. That being said a gauge before and after should give a good indication. No probs fella!
The peron map woukd do it . It's enough boost to Turkey but not quite enough it open the dv. My current pumaspeed map doesn't do it and I think peron doesn't anymore.
Ah ok my wife has a molten orange st running cp2. The boost gauge hits 21 psi no problem but my standard race red st only hits 19psi on boost gauge. I guess a mapped car produces better boost?
This is running a factory standard recirc valve so all the flutter and whoosh is as ford made it. its only because of the filter that it can be heard. the standard airbox mutes it.
Sounds like Darth Vader? Tbh I got the impression this is one of those mods that happens because of urban myths and young men looking for something to do to their cars when nothing is needed

Love the begrudging family cameos
Off topic: Your driveway is really narrow 😨
It's barely a drive. I done it to keep the track car off the road but thankfully I rarely have to get the car in and out. Its a right faff to use.
Loved the horn at the end ,thats something I have done and had done to myself lol :)
She lives a prank as much as me lol..
Atmospheric conditions like air temp can effect boost pressure. I noticed first test was raining so air was possibly denser on that particular day.
yes i think your right.
I had a boost controller on an Evo for years and had to turn boost down as the weather got colder 👍🏻👍🏻 Enjoyin the series pal, love that ST

Hi mate from Australia have subscribed to your channel.
you should change the hose upstream of your ITG admission, there is a lot to gain at this level because the original one is very restrictive.
Can you do a symposer delete with a blow off valve adapter .
Although the first test with the symposer was done on a damp day. Colder damp air gives a better 'burn'. Maybe try it again when it's raining?
Maybe an exhaust, I see the kids so don’t wanna say straight pipe , just a bit of noise up revs, good video

Maybe the bung is leaking boost around it's edges? Ah well, if not atleast it's a lot more quiet now hopefully. Sometimes i think it's too much with the drone on a little uphill highway.
It seems ok now. Maybe it was a air temperature difference in the day..

What kind of blowoff valve do you have? It sounds amazing.
It's standard with just an air filter so it's louder
@@Sparkplugsteve ok thank you

Hi its all standard. Turbo noises are louder due to itg air filter. Check out my vid of fitting it and the noise. Its great.

18000 miles on this one.
