You use Arekkz for entry, play weapon for X hours, then maybe move to like 1h+ in depth from some guy that has 5k hours into the weapon :D
Lance is so different now, I initially hated it but I’m really starting to come around to it. It seems to have a way higher skill cap now with the charged counter thrust changes as well as adding wide sweeps and mixing thrusts to maximise damage in combos.

They gave it a lot of end lag. Plus the actually attack doesn’t do that much damage anymore. Actually they even took away a hit away from it. Now it only attacks twice.
I can’t speak on the end lag because I don’t use leaping thrust enough to tell, but even though it only does 2 hits it actually does almost the same amount of damage as one high thrust for each hit, and in world at least the full attack didn’t even do as much damage as one high thrust

Not asking for it to be as fast as Dual blades, but there is kind of a reason why you don't see as many Lance players as the other 13. Even though I'm one of the hundreds of Lancers out there ready to defend the team). I guess overall, I need to refamiliarize myself with Lance after taking a break from Monster Hunter. But Lance will likely be one of the two main weapons I use during my Wilds playthrough.
They both like guard skill, so that’s easy enough. Considering how powerful perfect guards are now I don’t even think we’ll need max guard, but they might have reworked how the skill works anyways. Besides that, some stamina skills are good for lance, but really it doesn’t need them to work optimally, so it’s pretty easy to fit into a build with another guard weapon. Charge blade is the more deco hungry weapon, but considering how it shares some skills with lance I think this can be done pretty well. Happy hunting
Ill put it down though! Slower high poke combo with varied timing for every poke on top of reducing the damage of the final poke to be worse than mid thrust, backhop requiring additional inputs to execute for no real reason other than making you press the focus button, leaping thrust chaining being much slower and covering much less ground on top of doing less damage, and last but certainly not least removing counter thrust. This is just not it man
I feel like Charge counter is a good idea but what if you could do it if you hold down High Thrust? I feel like this will make Lance players more happy about this change. So press and hold Mechanic Just pressing gives us the normal High Thrust but holding down High Thrust Button Gives up Counter Thrust. Same idea but more skill added Also, I like them to add a Shield Bash option to Dash Attack. This way we can choose to do more Damage without Lealing Thrust attacks or more KO with a Shield Bash attack. There are some problems like Leaping Thrist having worse recovery and not hitting 3 times. But over all i’m liking the new Lance
I prefer they switch counter and power guard buttton press back the way it is in world more (Rb 2 + o for counter but hold to charge and rb2 + o + x for power guard like how world did), it seem all like heavy weapon in wild feel clunky too
why not mention/explaining about the move that got removed in Lance, Thrust Cancel and Counter Claw, to me Thrust Cancel is the most used guard move and the easiest to activate offensive guard and they remove it while counter claw is the only cool move for lance and they change it abit and give it to dual blade instead.
Yeah, definitely agree with the counter thrust. I think they figured it was redundant after letting you cancel pokes with a simple guard, but it definitely caused Wilds lance to feel very foreign. And I've pretty much resigned to clutch counter never coming back.
@@Mare_Man do you realize they just move the counter clutch mechanic, combine it with heavenly blade dance and make it into dualblade focus strike? they could just rename the counter claw to counter hook or something.
@@Mare_Man If there was just one good thing about the clutch claw, it was how good it felt on a lance to get a free tenderize with hyper armor, something no other weapon got.
I'll be honest as a Lance main since 4U I think it feels really bad now, removing counter is just ripped the heart out of the weapons whole identity and makes it feel a lot less dynamic and aggressive imo.
Longtime Lance main here, Guard Counter was removed because it would be redundant with the addition of Guard Canceling and Perfect Guards. It takes some getting used to, sure, but I think it will be fine in the long run
@@michaelmcdonald2005 They could have kept it in without issue. It would have been another option. You can only access it now through an attack string instead of on demand and now it doesnt even block the hit. Sometimes in World or Rise after 1 poke you have to guard counter. I also feel like our recovery frames are bigger. I feel slow and my hits dont feel impactful.
@@ontae1986 These complaints don't make sense though, since you can still do the equivalent of Guard Counter at any time, just like before (Perfect Guard). Now we have Charge Counter, which is an amazing new addition that increases the skill ceiling of the weapon by a lot. Also, Charge Counter blocks all damage from all attacks, so I don't know what you're saying there. You have to release it as the attack lands, you can't just hold it. The recovery frames are longer on the High Pokes for sure, but that's by design, if you need to delay getting to the Charge Counter
@michaelmcdonald2005 They removed it because it would make it way too easy to get extra damage with power clashes on Lance. Now you have to over commit every counter with charged counter or learn perfect guard timings if you want a similar experience.
@michaelmcdonald2005 The problem with charge counter is its part of a damn combo. In older games I could do 1 thrust counter or 2 thusts counter or use it as a charged combo ender if I wanted. Now its only a combo ender which makes it really clunky for no reason. You basically have to do a combo and hope the monster attacks into your charge counter or does nothing.
So question on the counter thrust, it doesn't block anymore? In World you blocked an attack and then would automatically strike back in the direction your character was facing, now the move says you have to time the attack with the monster's attack. I can't tell if I should let the monster hit me, and then stab, or stab as the monster is going to hit me, I'm not getting consistent double attacks like it says a proper counter does.
7:12-7:32 in other words, Lance mains... you have no excuses: wear knight-like armour, and pick a Lance that looks like an actual medieval lance or spear (or as close as you can get to one); because you can actually joust like knights in Wilds and i want you to look the part! and since one of my 2 sets will be called "Knight", expect *me* to do it. i hope to see you, fellow knights; the dragons won't slay themselves.
the lance feels worse overall. slower, clunkier, not as tight, and they *actually* took away our option to counter guard mad disappointed in my favorite weapon. i will be maining HH without a question after playing lance
Have you actually played it yet?? Fellow lance main, and I have to say this is the best lance has ever been. It’s a little clunky at first if you’re trying to play it like world lance, but it’s actually faster and smoother now. And counter stance isn’t gone it’s built into your guard now, which is way more streamlined and feels way more natural when you get used to it
One things ive noticed for the block window of perfect guard, it is super wide than instablock. Like, i can pull it off constantly even when im not really trying to do it
Hey Lancers/Capcom, I wanted to share some thoughts on Monster Hunter Wilds beta before its release. Share your thoughts. 1. Weapons: - Lance: Reintroduce the counter claw from Iceborne for enhanced defense and retaliation. Allow counterattacks or accessible always outside of committed animations and add new offensive options like 2 quick jabs (like spear)or a sweeping attack after a counter parry/block. Speed up attack animations for better responsiveness. - Light Bowgun: Incorporate an evasion mechanic similar to the wirebug counter dodge, using the clutch claw for swift repositioning. This would make it more fun i think. 2. Monsters and Environments: - Monster Difficulty: Ensure monsters are aggressive and unpredictable, similar to battles with Nergigante, Deviljho, and Lunastra. The combat experience should remain thrilling and challenging. - Environmental Challenges: Create environments that require strategic preparation, enhancing the lore and urgency of hunts. - Companion Dynamics: Balance companions like Alma and the Seikret to maintain the challenge of each encounter, preserving the heightened stakes that make hunts rewarding. 3. Endgame Content: Legendary Rank: - Challenges: Introduce a Legendary Rank with unique monsters that push skills to the limit, featuring innovative attack patterns and environmental challenges. with Low, High, Master, and Legendary Ranks, grounds a lifelong, re-playable engaging endgame content. These suggestions are partly to champion for lance, as we want to be flashy too, but overall is my observation with the beta.
Lance feels fucking horrible to the way it used to for the past games. I get that it might be good still/feel like a cool weapon for people who haven't used it previously, but MAN it feels entirely different and the playstyle is nothing like it used to and I absolutely despise it.
5:08 ...a ton of damage? what are yall smokin, for real? if it actually did as much as a sweep it would be completely fine but it does not even 60% of that.
@@Ashamran it does nearly the amount of 2 single stabs. but not even that. i really want the same drugs as yall to be thickskinned enough to call that a ton of damage :'D an exaggeration would be "it does great damage" but a ton? thats quite frankly delusional :'D

Damage up time is a thing, specialy now that lance can hold guard and have an auto damage bash. Lance user do damage just by existing on the battlefield.
Very disappointed in Lance from what I saw in the beta, and that was playing for about 8 hours with it before I have people telling me I didn't play it, like I'm seeing in the comments often Not only do the numbers feel very low compared to other weapons I tried, the almost complete lack of hitstop and SFX makes the weapon feel like I'm holding a needle and poking with it The guard being so quick is nice, but the counter is incredibly weak and unsatisfying and doesn't flow as nice Being able to hop around so much to reposition is really nice though; but as someone who came in ready to main Lance, the beta completely took the wind out of my sails and I'll be using something else unless there's significant changes
"hitstop and SFX" is something every weapon has to deal with (on top of not really being an inherent dealbreaker, I still found the combat satisfying). And worrying about damage is whatever, not like the Lance isn't used to that accusation being thrown at it every game lmao, on top of this just being the demo with a default lance with barely any armor skills
@@TheMoonman4 Some weapons were better hitstop/SFX-wise which is why I mention it here - and yes, Lance damage has typically been lower than others but it's not been this far behind; and being the demo doesn't really matter when armor skills are the same for everyone so it's relative, and Lance tends to take more defensive skills anyway so if anything, the gap would be more pronounced
I have to say lance in Wilds is bad. i liked the lance in world. Ok there are some cool moves like the triple thrust but thats it. No Insta Block anymore and you need a chain to charge counter. High Thrust is now much slower also! I can just hope we have later in story a chance to chance some skills. To this point lance from World/Rise to Wild is a downgrade. Also the damage compared to other weapons (Gunlance) is far behind. This weapon need some change until release.
You are tweaking so hard. Yes, there is an insta block because guarding cancels end lag the same way counter stance did. High thrust is slower, but does more damage, and mid thrust is comparatively way faster which gives way more versatility and actually makes mid thrust viable. Lance’s damage has always been on the lower end, and for very good reason because with how frequently it attack and how little downtime it has it can easily out damage “stronger” weapons like longsword and, yes, gunlance. if you’re gonna make a senseless hate comment like this I would hope you at least know what you’re talking about. Have you even played the beta?
@@Ashamran The only one who post hate is you! If you cant stand other opinions dont answer. I played lance enough, also in Beta to say it sucks in this state. You dont have to share my opinion. Gunlance is also more defensive and no.1 atm with damage from all weapons - so dont talk shit.
Not happy with the beta considering they catered to the newest high end computers that not everyone can afford to have. I will be very surprised if I buy this game even though I had high hopes for it.

@Ashamran yes! I'm just wondering about phial damage and stuff.
Started to play around using lance in Iceborne now I'm stuck with it.
new lance is weird and i love it
Lance feels like boxing
without counter claw, now lance cant make the cinematic aerial topple anymore T.T
cant wait to do a seikret cavalry wiht my bros HAHAHA
so, 100% of the time on Focus mode, got it
Why isn´t the counter after the high poke combo no Offset move though? :(
I dunno, Lance compared to World feels very clunky. I kinda don't wanna put it down but I definitely feel the difference so I might be forced to. :/
This is just not it man
not as broken as it was in subreak but definitely an improvement compared to world.
This is where we hold them!
This is where we fight!
This... is where *they DIE!!!!*
It's lancing time
I feel like Charge counter is a good idea but what if you could do it if you hold down High Thrust? I feel like this will make Lance players more happy about this change.
So press and hold Mechanic
Just pressing gives us the normal High Thrust but holding down High Thrust Button Gives up Counter Thrust.
Same idea but more skill added
Also, I like them to add a Shield Bash option to Dash Attack.
Anything and everything related to the clutch claw should be scrubbed away and forgotten.
@Michiho. Dual blade's counter claw move came from the way it played in GU.
Does the Lance still have quick dash into a shield bash/jumping thrust that hit multiple times or is it gone?
It still has. Tho the leaping attack you barely move forward anymore.
I'll be honest as a Lance main since 4U I think it feels really bad now, removing counter is just ripped the heart out of the weapons whole identity and makes it feel a lot less dynamic and aggressive imo.
Lance mains burned my fields
Was the footage played at a higher speed? Why?
They got rid of guard counter for no reason. That was my bread n butter.
You need to time it, so release your charge just before getting hit to activate the guardpoint
@@exquisitemeat5845 can you hold the charge state as long as you want or does it time out?
@@dustinmcrae349 it times out, it's around a 3 or 4 second hold
Lance mains rise up! (all 5 of us)
7:12-7:32 in other words, Lance mains... you have no excuses: wear knight-like armour, and pick a Lance that looks like an actual medieval lance or spear (or as close as you can get to one); because you can actually joust like knights in Wilds and i want you to look the part!
and since one of my 2 sets will be called "Knight", expect *me* to do it. i hope to see you, fellow knights; the dragons won't slay themselves.
Bro where is the heavy bowgun i need it
HAMMER WHEN?
SHOUDA BROUGHT A LANCE
the lance feels worse overall. slower, clunkier, not as tight, and they *actually* took away our option to counter guard
mad disappointed in my favorite weapon. i will be maining HH without a question after playing lance
Have you actually played it yet?? Fellow lance main, and I have to say this is the best lance has ever been. It’s a little clunky at first if you’re trying to play it like world lance, but it’s actually faster and smoother now. And counter stance isn’t gone it’s built into your guard now, which is way more streamlined and feels way more natural when you get used to it
First!
As a GS main I can shoulder tackle a lightning. Had no idea puny humans need a shield for that.
At least we can hit more than once every five minutes lol /j
One things ive noticed for the block window of perfect guard, it is super wide than instablock. Like, i can pull it off constantly even when im not really trying to do it
Hey Lancers/Capcom, I wanted to share some thoughts on Monster Hunter Wilds beta before its release. Share your thoughts.
1. Weapons:
- Lance: Reintroduce the counter claw from Iceborne for enhanced defense and retaliation.
2. Monsters and Environments:
- Monster Difficulty: Ensure monsters are aggressive and unpredictable, similar to battles with Nergigante, Deviljho, and Lunastra.
3. Endgame Content: Legendary Rank:
- Challenges: Introduce a Legendary Rank with unique monsters that push skills to the limit, featuring innovative attack patterns and environmental challenges. with Low, High, Master, and Legendary Ranks, grounds a lifelong, re-playable engaging endgame content.
These suggestions are partly to champion for lance, as we want to be flashy too, but overall is my observation with the beta.
>They removed the freely available counter block because of the power clash mechanic, thats why counter thrust is part of a combo for no reason
It’s an exaggeration but it does a good amount of damage for how easy it is to do
@@Ashamran it does nearly the amount of 2 single stabs. but not even that. i really want the same drugs as yall to be thickskinned enough to call that a ton of damage :'D an exaggeration would be "it does great damage" but a ton? thats quite frankly delusional :'D
@@Ashamranyou're the reason no one plays lance... Easy to use? So it should be dealing half the damage of other weapons wth? IDC what weapon you use every weapon should take the exact same time to kill it shouldn't matter how "easy" it is it's a PvE game.
Damage up time is a thing, specialy now that lance can hold guard and have an auto damage bash.
Lance user do damage just by existing on the battlefield.
Very disappointed in Lance from what I saw in the beta, and that was playing for about 8 hours with it before I have people telling me I didn't play it, like I'm seeing in the comments often
Not only do the numbers feel very low compared to other weapons I tried, the almost complete lack of hitstop and SFX makes the weapon feel like I'm holding a needle and poking with it
The guard being so quick is nice, but the counter is incredibly weak and unsatisfying and doesn't flow as nice
Being able to hop around so much to reposition is really nice though; but as someone who came in ready to main Lance, the beta completely took the wind out of my sails and I'll be using something else unless there's significant changes
I mained Lance in Rise. This is way different..
Wilds lance feels like a slug fest that the monster can only hope to run from.
peak
"ton of damage" -> 23 with sweet spot hit zone. Lmao, Lance is DPS trash again. Capcom never learns.
I will be very surprised if I buy this game even though I had high hopes for it.
if your PC is not up to date that´s not MH-Developer´s fault. And they do have a crazy amount of diffrent settings to lower the load on the CPU/GPU
@romankoch8507 never said it was their fault persay but not everyone has money or is a streamer/content creator to afford the top of the line stuff.
@@Renbedlamthen i don’t see why folks complain. If you can’t spend money for good parts don’t complain when ya cheap shit can’t run. Not tryna attack you in particular tho
Lance kinda sucks tho
Get real
The lance in wilds isn't worse then world's... but it isn't the same. It's deffinetly lost its title has the most aggressive weapon in the game
I don't think that's true at all. If you aren't CONSTANTLY attacking in Wilds, just like the other games, you're playing the weapon wrong this time around. Replace your High Thrust chains with Mid Thrust chains and you'll be good in no time
