I think a contributing factor to when I got knee tendinitis and eventually tore my patellar tendon was that I was taught or at least my understanding was rpe target only applied to the first set. The flexx approach is much more sustainable, and allows athletes to continue to progress over the long term.
Well, my knees have been hurting a bit since I maxed out last summer. It's pretty mild, but I was stubbornly sticking to my program (template I found online). They still hurt a bit, so I'm going to keep the weight light on squats for a while to rehab them. It's taking some serious self control to not go heavier.

I like pyramid sets at the moment. After my top set I'll back it down to something easy (RPE 6-7), then add 5kgs per set until I get to an RPE 7-8 and then go back down again. I find I'm a bit tired after my top set so by making my first backdown set easier I can recover and the second set feels better.
I actually used to do the same thing with not lowering the weight when my first set felt too hard lol, would just ego it for no reason
