47 minutes of peace and sensibility in a maddening modern world. Thanks for reminding us what our ancestors lives were like before it got all plastic and disposable. Thanks Tom x
PeppieP no argument regarding peace, but literally everything he digs up would have been considered disposable, they wouldn't be there if they weren't.
one suggestion i would make is that i would love to see MORE of the cleaned up artifacts at the end. seeing the plates cleaned and glued back together was awesum. there were several other things i would have enjoyed seeing clean as well. as always, love watching you neck deep in century old poop! kudos on the new channel, looking forward to more.
I would too but I imagine he has tons of glass bottles and plates that haven't been cleaned yet or if they ever will. However, it would be nice to see more detailed photos or videos of the ones that he does show at the end. I would keep watching.
Seeing you have a great personality and experience excitement in your favorite thing is nice to see. So sad it was hidden for so long. Looking forward to seeing how your new channel grows. Congratulations.
If you ever find yourself in ne Ohio, I have 2 1860s houses, a hotel and saloon and train depot site steps from house. I’m too old to dig them, I wish you could! The neighbor has them surfacing in her back yard sometimes.
@@TomAskjem.LostHorizons Anytime ! Everything is still standing except the depot but we know where it stood. It drives me crazy thinking what must be down there lol
I miss the music from your old videos - it set the mood for the frontier feeling. Thanks for taking us along Tom, we always watch your videos when they drop.
Hello 👋🏾 from New York, You found some amazing finds. My favorite find was the porcelain figurine. Thank you for bringing me along with you. I can't wait to see where you go and what you find next 😊
Enjoyed your digs Tom, I’m glad you found some good things around all of the broken glass. And am glad that you now have an awning to keep you dry, that weather in ND is so unpredictable of late. I look forward to your next video.
Is that rain I could hear in the background? Always enjoy watching you dig for the artifacts. Thanks again for a super show! Nice looking blue and white plates...ty for showing the cleaned up stuff...so cool.
Sounds like the wind is blowing above you....glad you are down in the pit.......maybe fire up that lamp burner you just dug up and keep you warm..........great job....thanks
I absolutely love your UA-cam channel. I've always loved history matter fact. When I was In middle school through high school. I had strawdays and history. I love pretty much everything about it. Seeing your videos and all these things tells an amazing story. It's also why I love crystals and agates As well, because even rocks can tell a history. And it's just amazing, and it's really amazing. How things can be in the ground for hundreds even millions of years, and there's still in great shape. Thank you for sharing what you do I do enjoy your videos very much.
The little “pitcher” in the beginning is a cruet. They would use this for oil and vinegar. Maybe they would use one for the vinegar and one for the oil. This is so interesting. Even the bricks can tell you a lot. I learned there are actual brick collectors out there.
The beautiful glass container with missing top my great grandmother had one. She called it a drizzler..like dizzling vingerate over a salad. Her set was cranberry bottom to the lightess pink.. beautiful..
Thank you Tom for making these videos I am a 68 year old big fan and look forward to seeing how knowledgeable you are in each video. Keep them coming and God Bless❤😊
Well done mate. Following for a while. You are amazing in that you find all those relics and that they are not lost to time any more. Thank you for bringing so much history to light. Absolutely awesome. Posterity thanks you. Cheers.
I really enjoy watching your channel, im impressed and applaud you for your honesty in dating your finds. Please keep digging because i do not subscribe to other bottle digging channels because its pretty obvious they haven't done their homework.
In many movies we see households and dinner tables and the most common dinner ware seems to have been the Blue Willow pattern, I guess that was Hollywood. You have dispelled a notion I have had for over 50 years 😮. Thank you for setting the record straight.
@@TomAskjem.LostHorizons Already did brother. Viewer base will increase but will take time for people to find ya!! Did you find the time to open up your site for posting finds you want to sell?? You mentioned awhile ago that was a goal...
Another fun one. Damn kids anyways. Looks like you might be in that area for a while. Hope you find more. We will be here to watch. Hope you're doing well. Take care. 😊
You find some really cool stuff. What I'd like to know is, do you save this stuff you find and add it to your collection if you have one. Or re bury afterwards?. Thanks for sharing with us. Enjoyed it very much.
I always wonder if an excess amount of glass could mean there was a tornado or derecho. Would be curious if other digs in the area from the same time also have a lot of glass.
Tom, I know you already have plenty to do, but I wonder if with a little research if you could find the answer to if there had been a big storm at one time that broke a bunch of windows. Hail? Wind?....BTW great video! I really like you showing the shots of what the area looks like where you are digging, where buildings were and history about the town/site.
I can’t believe how much broken window glass you had to dig through. The kid rock destruction was a bummer. But I guess that’s how pits go, some great and some just a lot of digging for little return.
Do you find much 'Solarized Glass'? i.e. The solar radiation colour change to purple/amethyst when Manganese Dioxide has been used in the glass metal melt to 'de-color'. It happens with buried and UV exposed glass, like the power insulators. I've seen 'clear' bottles with purple hue too.
Yes please or a tour of your collection please!! Come dig with me in Pennsylvania, Titusville that is. Pit hole city! We have so much history and I know some ppl who will definitely allow us to dig there’s history here also.
I have less than 20 bottles in my personal collection. I’ve posted pictures of them on Facebook. If you go to my page (Tom Askjem) and search “apothecary phial” and “Comstock” you’ll see what I’ve posted about them. It’s quality not quantity for sure
I used to break bottles when I was a kid we had a huge field behind our house people were always drinking booze so plenty bottles to break. The good old days now the field is homes and the rest business. San Bruno CA.
I’m so glad you have your own channel now! Your natural spirit is so much fun to watch! Your enthusiasm is addicting!!!

PeppieP no argument regarding peace, but literally everything he digs up would have been considered disposable, they wouldn't be there if they weren't.
I feel like I'm watching a man freed from his captors and years of forced labor!
It's wonderful to see you truly enjoying your passion, Tom.
Thanks for watching! I’ve definitely been enjoying life a lot more lately!

A lot of people ask for this but he generally doesn’t do that.

I’m glad that the awning kept you dry, it’s fun listening to rain while you’re digging 😊
Oh! Is that what that was!

I like him showing around the area of the digging site(s), where houses were, etc.
Really exciting finds! Im loving it that you are much more free to talk to us.
Brilliant as ever Tom, thank you.

You should do a show, that explains, blob top , applied top ect. With examples. Very interesting, to see what you find!
I totally agree!
Glad to have found you again Tom!!! Not sure what happened but I hope it was amicable. Good luck branching out on your own.

It was a rainy day so we set up the canopy. The sound of rain is definitely relaxing!
I was supposed to go digging today for my buddy's birthday. Ended up losing the permission. I'm glad to watch this instead of no bottles today.
Mrs Stewart's Bluing is still made to this day. I use it in my white laundry and it works great. Thanks Tom
No better way to drink a cup of coffee and watch you thanks again
Sounds like the wind is blowing above you....glad you are down in the pit.......maybe fire up that lamp burner you just dug up and keep you warm..........great job....thanks
I get excited now!!! Love digging in the pits without getting dirty,it's so much fun to see what you pull out next. 😁

Pickle bottle great for flower vases

I miss the old music intro, too. Any type of new music intro would be great! Glad you have a new channel. You’re the only one I watch.

Another fun one. Damn kids anyways. Looks like you might be in that area for a while. Hope you find more. We will be here to watch. Hope you're doing well. Take care. 😊
Thanks Tom! Incredible! ♥
I enjoy your video
Tom, I think you found ol' Ranger's last set of shoes...
You find some really cool stuff. What I'd like to know is, do you save this stuff you find and add it to your collection if you have one. Or re bury afterwards?. Thanks for sharing with us. Enjoyed it very much.
Some pieces are kept, sold, given to the property owner and donated to museums. If no one is interested we rebury them
How do you figure out where to get permission to dig in an abandoned town? From the County or?
Interesting place and finds!
I always wonder if an excess amount of glass could mean there was a tornado or derecho. Would be curious if other digs in the area from the same time also have a lot of glass.
Every table had a vinegar and an oil cruet on it, the go to salad dressing.
Yeah. Pretty sure the thing that he thought was a pitcher was something to do with oil and/or vinegar.
The china was lovely ❤
Good stuff as usual. 😎🍺☮️
I was wondering what happened to you, no post on your old channel in 2 months. Cool I found your new one! Fun channel and informational!
There was a big storm there in July 1909 but that seems a bit late for the era I was digging in. I haven’t been able to find any more information.
I can’t believe how much broken window glass you had to dig through. The kid rock destruction was a bummer. But I guess that’s how pits go, some great and some just a lot of digging for little return.
Freakin kids. When I return to my spot maybe tomorrow, that’s what I’m gonna be thinking with every broken bottle.lol
I fell asleep watching you dig. I woke up a few minutes later and I thought OMG who is eating so loud!! Lol
Every once in a while but it’s rare with what I do being most of these bottles weren’t exposed to sunlight for long before getting buried
Tom the small perfume is called a Card perfume!🤔😏
I appreciate the info!
Wine bottle was super color green - darn near emerald!!
Those pickle preserve jars I would love to fill one of those with vintage marbles
Good dig. I enjoyed. Rk.
The broken glass and dishes always makes me want to make Mobil’s or wind chimes!
Yes please or a tour of your collection please!! Come dig with me in Pennsylvania, Titusville that is. Pit hole city! We have so much history and I know some ppl who will definitely allow us to dig there’s history here also.

Way to sniff them out Tom!! Outstanding!!
