    Love your drone work on the crusher!

    We crush blockages like this by opening and closing the jaw on the panel instead of just restarting the clutch. You will end up with oversize but it gets through. Just small motions though because you can end up with the jaw fully open and the piece still stuck in there. Nice set up 👍🏻. Fitter from the uk 🇬🇧

    You didn't have to. They do a really good job of it themselves. It faded out a few times before it choked. I had a fan clutch go out on a Mack and it loaded with 2 loads of asphalt. They thought it was bypassed but the only time it'd work was at idle and I was hauling in the hills. It started to go out on my 1st load of 3/4 stone and they tried bypassing it then. Thought sure they had it the last time but nope. Idled up the hills and it stayed cool back down and on the flat. I sure am glad I just drive a mower now!

    I used to work in a hydraulic machine shop and we built dampers that went into rock crushers and it was cheaper to build them brand new than to rebuild them cause of how much damage they would take.

      The new jaw got one and it was handy when it stopped up to be able to clean out instead of hauling everything out with a chain or a choker.

    I know it’s called work but to me that would be so much fun to run the loader and watch the crushed rock come out.
    You quite possibly the best drone pilot I’ve ever seen. Show us your drone

      It's fun for the 1st week then it's just what it is. Ironically the fun part is when shit breaks and you get to fix it. Sitting in the cabs 10/12hr shifts 6 days a week gets old quickly

    I've been in this business only since June this year and what i've learned is that these machines can break down a lot. Only this season we've had so much bad luck with at least 3 conveyor belts ripping up( one caused by a large metal plate that detached from the feeder and fell down the jaw), a Symons 4-1/4 self-destroying two times(ring gear)splitting at least one time the drive pulley, had to empty it up by hand at least 6 times, a jammed up scalper screen full of material. And there's plenty more. Hard business 😅

      For sure. We had a portable and a permanent plant at the quarry I worked at, and it was a wonder if something didn’t cause a shit down at least once a day

      We destroyed a cone crusher when an excavator bucket tooth went into it, yeah that was immediately after the magnet decided to quit working, fun business isn't it?

    Need a bigger screener and cone. The jaw is starving for rock. Can hear it just bouncing up inside the jaw wich will cause big issues later on and wear the jaw die plates out. With so much dirt in the material and making multiple materials might be better to prescreen or use the fines door on jaw

    Yikes! That was exciting, not like when it happens to me, then it's not exciting at all...Well, to me anyway... The title got me waiting and paying attention to every little thing, the jaws didn't sound right. Wait what was that? Did that belt just slip? Hahaha! Then I really heard the noise change, I'm sitting here going someone check that! Where is everyone?! Run!! Why isn't anyone running??!! I run like the stone is on fire. I'm a dramatic little girl... Hahahaha! That's crazy the jaws would jam like that. I'm not running rock large enough to do that. Maybe if we get a large jaw, I'll be able to crush the blast rock we have in the other pit. Thanks for the video, glad it wasn't any too serious! :)

      Also, I ran the end of the season, hit or miss. My clutch on the screens had only one good piece with 5 teeth left, would have ended my season early if it let go. I made it through near a month on those 5 teeth in there! The mechanic couldn't believe it was even catching at all! We finally got parts, but will take days to take that clutch down and reinstall it. We'll do that in spring.

    When did you guys finally get running again? Do you keep critical components in stock or pay the expedited transit cost?

    • @JoeRockYT
      @JoeRockYT  4 роки тому

      We don't really keep much in stock besides common wear items. Some of the parts are too expensive to keep laying around collecting dust. Its tough because we have been down for almost 2 weeks now waiting on parts, go figure.

      @@JoeRockYT As a Design Engineer; even if the Quarry Co. bought used, I'd blame the manufacturer(mfg'r.) for that ridiculous delay. There's no reason the mfg'r. couldn't keep components like that in stock & no reason the dealer couldn't do the same but on consignment from the mfg'r. Now you indicted yourself by admitting you thought something was failing. I've always been a fan of periodic inspections, sometimes that's what weekends are for...I know. I'm sure you guys did what you thought was best & you had no idea the downtime was to be this long. Hope you didn't have many if any angry customers or the loss of any contracts. Looks like replacement parts are better collecting dust then the resulting wait time but those are questions to a dealer the next time the Company buys a machine. Dealers want your money, not your friendship. Hold their feet to the fire & don't allow them to talk around your questions. Best wishes.

      @@carmiethompson2676 This is why mine sites in Australia have taken to keeping critical spares on site (like a complete super excavator) and replacement parts like hydraulic cylinders in stores ready to go to get critical machines back up and running. I watched one video recently where the the super excavator was taken off line in a planned maintenance event and the two large diesel engine skids were swapped out for fresh ones. The units swapped out could then be sent off site for a complete overhaul before being returned to the mine. Mind boggling stuff, but when there is big money to be made or lost if contracts aren't fulfilled, then I guess different rules apply.

    • @carmiethompson2676
      @carmiethompson2676 4 роки тому

      @@markfryer9880 That's interesting. I can see were big operations would need that kind of inventory. In the video, it looks like Joe's operation isn't near that scale & I can understand why it would be difficult to keep pricey parts on a shelf. What troubles me isn't Joe being frugal, that's what businesses might have to do. What makes me angry is the delay in receiving replacement parts. The parts could've been shipped common-carrier but where are those parts for shipping? Not at the dealer or the mfg'r apparently. A complete fail on the part of the mfg'r & distributor. And it'll be remembered.
