here is a good cover - ua-cam.com/video/zSE_HsLqntU/v-deo.html - but it is different: Diana is still young, she is only 13 years old, she sings about the future, she is positively glowing with optimism - and Edith sums up her life, already feeling tired and wise...
She was the best of my childhood, the songs she sang led us to live the way that gave us great hope. after ww2 there was nothing and than there was this! RIP forever remembered and I am 76 now and still hear that song loved her from when I heard the first song. could not understand a word she was signing but it stuck and has been with me ever since, along with "melord" didnt know what she was singing about, but it stuck, just like 76 yrs later and now in australia
I'm 25 and I've heard this song all my life I was 12 when I found she passed a long time ago. I mourned her like a friend. That's the sign of true magnificence.
I weep every time that I listen to this. Edith must have been so incredibly sick when she did this performance, yet she found the strength and courage to go on. God touched this woman.
Spot on! God touches us with music. He choses people who had to fight from birth to just survive as his instruments. Mozart, Beethoven, and the little "Bird"! Will you let me say Dolly Parton? BTW, I am not some religious "nutter". Something sends this music to us, without which we can not live.
The creator had indeed touched Edith Piaf. But I wish she had taken care of her health. Last week, Indian melody queen Lata Mangeshkar passed away. She ruled our hearts for eight decades with her melodious voice.

I can not really believe she was 47 years old. So much pain and suffering for such a young singer
Lucas Telles suffering ;s no age
Good lord she looks about 60
Roger Levy yes, very sad
To quote a well known tennis player."you cannot be serious"!. She looks 67.
Great voice at her age and all she endured. Judy Garland was also 47 when she died but by then IMHO her voice had suffered as well.
