  • Some friends and I were on a backpacking trip to Lysefjord in Norway - the Stavanger region. I put together this small video about it and I hope you enjoy it. :-)
    If you are considering going there I can very much recommend it. The area is very beautiful with predefined hiking routes along the coastline of Lysefjord.
    Keep it mind - it is an amateur video filmed with a GoPro HD2 camera. Therefore the shakiness.
    In this video you will see the Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), Lysefjord and the Kjerag Bolt which is a popular basejumping site.
    I have used Sony Vegas Pro 12 for the editing. The music is as follows:
    Scott & Brendo - Somewhere (feat. Scott Vance)
    Radical Something - Spread Your Wings

    If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comment section below and I will get right to them.

      +Roy Vuyk Hi man. Sorry for the late reply, but I'm glad you enjoyed the video. :-)
      We were trekking for 5 days and due to some in the group not being that physically fit, we didn't cover all of the route. We did see Preikestolen and the Kjerag Bolt, which were of most importance.
      The route we followed was Lysefjord Rundt (google it) and it takes you around the coast line. I cannot compare it to any other route, but it was immensely beautiful. I think that is why it is the "officially recommended" route.

    Great video! Makes me excited for my trip! How long does it take to go from Stavanger to pulpit rock to kjerabolten and back (total days)? What is the best route as well?

      Thanks for the response. :)
      First of all, I don't think it's even possible to go from Stavanger to the Pulpit Rock. We took the ferry and then afterwards the bus to the Pulpit Rock basecamp and then started walking from there.
      From there it took us about five days to reach Kjeragbolten. We took a shortcut with the ferry btw. to be able to make it. We then took the ferry from Lysebotn back to Stavanger.
      It really depends on your shape and the shape of your team. On our tour some were stuggling a bit.
      Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you want to go from Stavanger to Pulpit Rock to Kjeragbolten and all the way back to Stavanger? If so, I'd give it about two-three weeks, depending on your form. I don't know the route from Stavanger to Pulpit Rock, but it's quite the distance. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

      Hey Thomas. Thanks for the comment. Really appreciate it ;).
      We followed a route trail. We got dropped off at Preikestolhytten, where we walked to the Preikestol itself.
      We walked to Bratelli and then continued to Sognesand through Bakken.
      Some of the people in our group were pretty beaten up at this point, so we took the ferry from Sognesand to Lysebotn.
      We then walked from Lysebotn to Kjerag.
      The intention from here on was to continue to Flørli, but we got lost on the Kjerag mountain just before sunset due to bad weather, so we slept on the mountain and went back to Lysebotn in the morning.
      There are trails all the way around Lysefjord, and the entire route is called Lysefjorden Rundt. You need to purchase a detailed map at Stavanger Tourist Association located in Stavanger. Their website is:
      www.stavanger-turistforening.no/
      You can find a less detailed map here:
      www.irogaland.no/ir_img/image_database/BildeArkiv/Fjordhopping/Kart%20lysefjorden%20photoshop%20stort.bmp
      I hope that answered your question. If not, I'll just keep on trying. ;)

      Thanks for your answer !:-)
      For how many days did that route take?

    • @cmostrup
      @cmostrup  10 років тому

      5 days in total. We had some troubles with one of our bags not being on the plane, so we got delayed a day because of that. But you could be doing it in 4 days with the right planning, even maybe 3 if you are all in good shape. :)

    Thanks ! I'm looking at the map kartverket from norway. Can you walk from Lyse up to kjerag ? Do you walk on the lysetunnel ? Or do you need a life up? I can't see a trail.

    • @cmostrup
      @cmostrup  10 років тому

      Yep, we just followed the main road from Lysebotn through the tunnel.
