      He’s lost it. If you can’t hear that his voice isn’t the same as it was then you must be tone deaf.
      Nothing good lasts forever. Face the truth, stop kidding yourself. We all want it to be as good as it was but it just isn’t..

      With all due respect, I disagree. He is giving those of us who were teens in the 80s joy to see someone our age still rocking out. Just because his voice isn’t what it was doesn’t mean it doesn’t have soul and sparkle. He looks great for his age and he still has it.as a performer. We should all age so well, continuing to do the things that bring us joy and giving joy to others. Again, this is in the spirit of respectful.

    • @skygazer6898

      Well, his voice is not what it used to be but the same can be said about many others. Paul Young is such a lovely man I dont like to see anything negative. I love McCartney and when people go on about his voice being gone, I really get annoyed. Anyway, I watched McCartney and Paul young performing along with Tuna Turner and someone else on youtube. It was fantastic.
      I think people like Paul probably overdo their performances and that is why they end up gettng a little hoarse. anyway, i am going to see him at the Palace theatre. He is getting married to a lovely lady and i am pleased as he deserves happiness.

      @Jim_L Рік тому +1

      I agree with you totally in that the 1985 Live Aid version is perfect and timeless. The way he altered the arrangement of that performance is superb. He emphasized the soul aspect that this song has. I do, however, think comparing it to "Stairway to Heaven" and "Comfortably Numb" is a stretch. As good as Young's Live Aid rendition of this song is, it's not THAT good. But if you like it that much, then who am I to get in the way of your opinion?! 😃

      @@bostonjedi Not too much, I've picked up a few things from watching videos made by vocal coaches and professional singers in which they spoke about how using the wrong techniques or not using techniques properly can damage your voice. From a medical standpoint it's fairly logical though, if you injure the tools/instruments used to sing they'll lose efficiency. That starts with proper breathing and ends with things like "belting the wrong way" etc., so you'd still get the sound you wanted but injure your vocal cords in the process, leading to the vocal cords scarring up, shortening, etc., which all changes your voice.

    Like so many of the Singers from the past, they hit it big when they were teens. Then fame disappeared, and they had nothing else to do. Now they’re 30-40 years older and they make appearances like this, but their voices have suffered over Time. I cherish the music still, but I also think those who have lost their voices, need to have a reality check and say to themselves, “I just can’t sing those songs anymore”. Keep your credibility with your fans, and don’t appear like this on a cheesy TV Special, sounding like a croaky Toad.

      He can't sing with a rasp any more, he is better singing in his normal voice. That's due to not singing for a long time and not looking after his voice properly. Rod Stewart who can still sing with a raspy voice, did look after voice. Paul Young raspy voice only lasted from 1985 to about 2002.

    His vocal register when he says "thank you" is higher and more pleasing than his singing voice. Maybe he should just talk through the song instead.

    Why music artist always think they can live/act forever? Aging, never heard of? This is a caricature. Please stop it, memories are good enough to remember and don't overwrite it with such 'performance'. When success is over, live along with common people. Ah-ah-aijiah.
