Steve Loved all these Stores you went to but I could not get in the door of one of them. Great vintage Vinyl,Great Vintage Audio and the Posters and other Memorabilia was outstanding. But Wheelchair accessible not one of them. That pisses me off to no end. I understand that not everyone can afford to open places up for us Wheelchair bound. But to just go thru all that music would keep me happy for days on end. Mike couldn't make room for inventory let alone an Isle.Thank you so much for the tour. I did get that much and I am happy to have that. Peace My Friend! Steve
Hi Steve, never mind me without a handicap (except for my aching back), these are tough places to visit in a W Chair.......I feel for you as I (we) totally take it for granted.....I honestly think if you called Mike ahead of time, he is that type of guy to clean it up for you. But then again, not all are like him. I am so glad to be able to show you these. Thanks for your comments and watching. Steve
Hope you are having a great vacation Steve. I love watching people flipping through bins. It just makes me want to looking right now. Cool stores and nice finds. Don't fall off any rocks. Take care...
Really nice scenery behind you Steve. The water looks so nice. I actually met up with a native Maine member of the VC Nate Bouchard today in Boston. I have been to Mike's Music before but the time that I went in the morning it was closed. But after seeing this it is now on my list the next time I head to Sanford. What an amazing interview with Mike. > I was thinking of Brother Bruce when Mike mentioned being from Detroit. Electric Buddahs looked cool too. How were the prices on the jazz records? Vinyl Vintage also looks nice the way they had their wall albums displayed. 10:08 I still need to grab that Lyres album. I think Paul Rodgers sings on the Paul Kossoff album. Which by the way is a really good listen. > I liked the looks on all of the stores and I appreciate you taking the time out to show them to us. I would love for Corey to check this out. Thanks for sharing all of this Steve~ Rob/Boston
Paneeks1960 Ogunquit is fabulous. Mike has some crazy hours....I was there 2 days in a row....only spent 10 min the first time but got his card and cell, he said to call and he will come open. So the next day worked out. Elec Budda was a bit pricey for me....so was Mike.....I want to say the Sonny Rollins was maybe $24. I bought 3 of my albums from vintage vinyl (moody). The prices were fair. Yes Paul sings one song on PK's album.....such a cool record. Glad you enjoyed the vid, as I have fun doing it....talk soon my friend! Steve
My kind of record stores Steve. Nice vinyl pickups! Awesome tours, atmosphere, ocean views and interview with Mike. Lot's of cool stuff in those racks too. Thanks for sharing. ~Jeff
A pleasure Jeff, it's not all about what I have or got, but what is out there and what can you learn. I appreciate your comments and watching, as these are always a blast to do. Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve, Looks very beautiful up there. Could sit outside all day. Very cool first shop. Could have geeked out a great deal there as well. All the places, really. Very cool, Strange Maine. Beautiful scene again. Thanks for sharing this. -Carm
When I walk by the coastline and water, I play Liquid Mind........so pleasant and soothing. Yes you would appreciate Maine, there is so much natural beauty, similar to Northern California. Mike's shop was great as I enjoy not knowing what album is next. He did know where the albums were and to locate them.....a total geek time there, and how it should be....he had toTal passion....unlike others I meet (like a dead fish). The only issue was, a bit to pricey for me......thanks Carm ...Steve
I would move there in a heartbeat......Maine is soooo cool (some tough winters).....it is like Northern California coast. But, the vinyl stores were a bit pricey.....thanks Steve
Great...I like traveling vlogs and visiting record shop videos...nice to see someone else getting out there in the world. I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation, with this heatwave it's a good time to be at the seaside.
A total blast to get out, and visit and see the music scene. There is nothing like the old school record shop charm when you find them. Sometime chaos is good. Thanks for the comments and watching as usual! Steve Next stop is Houston/ Austin
Very cool! Love these record store tour videos. I did a similar sort of video when I visited smfcpthowdy and Bobby Gass in Toronto. Now for me, that's a vacation. Going to record stores in another city besides your own. Haha! My wife doesn't agree.
Lol, I saw your vid and love them also. It worked out for me visiting the stores.....for Mike's directly across the street was a fabric store for my wife (take your time honey).....for Portland, I got out early enough to get back and spend family time at the beach. I am asked not to spend much that is all. Cheers Scott, steve
Oh Steve, Wish I was with you on this trip. I could be the one that people look a while you show records on the cliff. Great video! You set the bench mark mate! Cheers
Amazing video! I truly love your tours through record stores! Would have loved to look through all those tons of vinyl. Great pick-ups! Seven is a great album. one of my fave tracks on here is "Long Song Comin´" deep cool classic rock! Have a great time Steve! Talk to you soon Ben
ryanrocks84 Thought of you at Mike's.....he was talking Steamhammer with me and got so excited I knew them. You would have loved probably 3 of the stores. I have not listened to the Seger yet, but will soon! Thanks Ben! Steve
Really enjoy these tours Steve. I have some family in Maine so maybe I'll get to visit these spots someday. Mike seems a real character, real old school record store guy. Nice update, cheers.
Thanks Doug! You need to stop at these. I will admit they were pricey, as I could not Afford my album picks at Mike's...but you need to see it.. Vintage Vinyl Moody was the better priced (third shop). Thanks....Steve
What a fun and cool record tour ! That owner, of Mike's Music and his shop were cool as well. Wish we had that shop with an owner like him here. I'm not familiar with those early Bob Segar records other than his 1st hit single, 'Ramblin' Gamblin' Man' which is fantastic. The radio stations here overplayed and saturated his music from 'Night Moves' LP onward. Paul Kossoff, what can you say he was a great fiery guitarist and I loved his work with Free ! I think I've heard a little bit of his post-Free solo and group recordings like 'Back Street Crawler.' Maine is beautiful.
Being there was 100x worse. He had everything, and doubles. I just could not afford the $. He does have rent to pay, and folks are spending. There were a few I had picked out and knew the price, but it was almost double what I could find them for. Great guy, wished we all could have hung out there together....thanks Steve
Hey Tom, thought of you.....the Electric Budda told me he just put out a new Jazz collection purchase.......but, it was some steep prices. Great vacation and loads of fun shooting this.....thanks Steve
Half of my vids are banned in Germany! lol! That first record store you showed with the Detroit brother....that's my idea of a record store! Love the tour vids you post, man. I can't tell you how many times you've flipped through a crate and I saw something I've wanted. Thanks for the post, Steve.
Fearnoarts That's funny....It was the only country blocked. I learned that I will not do a full 2 min walk thru of a store, but break it up in segments to break up the music. I knew Mike and you would hit it off.....wish you could meet him. I flipped thru a few crates knowing that would happen. all the best bro...Steve
Hey Steve! Awesome video as usual! I didn't realize they had so many great record stores in Maine! I'm watching this with my wife and we think we just may take a trip over there (it's only about a 6 hour drive for us). What caught my attention the most here is that Amboy Dukes LP that showed up on 2 occasions in this video, lol! I'm a HUGE Ted Nugent fan, so I would've picked that up in a heartbeat, haha! Have a good one buddy! - Jex
+CineBrosSupreme hey Jex.....thanks my friend....take her their for a weekend, the coast will earn you big romantic points. The stores were a little bit pricey on some.....I was told to watch myself with the spending....low budget. Hope you make it....Steve
Totally great stuff.....the $ was a bit steep for me. But he had so much Around every corner. I needed to conserve the $ if you know what I mean. Steve
Mike's record shop in Sanford, Maine is closed but I wonder where he left all his vinyl. His shop was full of records (more than 25.000 records I think and much more in the basement where I had never been)!
I was updated with that info recently.......and not surprised. He was a wonderful chap.....but.......did not run the business well.......and I do not know of his behind the scenes personal life. He had a great destination store, and as you know it would takes days to go thru his environment. But to your point, where is his vinyl? no blowout sales? I only found 1-2 stores in the area to be worthwhile. Maybe he sold it to one of them.....thanks for the comments. steve
Fun record store, however, I don't believe people should be hurt being hunched over looking at the product :) We all get what you mean about fluff - as we collect we ebb and flow on the stuff we take in - not this blanket "quality vs. quantity" sweeping generalization, but stuff we know we want vs. stuff we just kinda know about or things we grab because we like some of it or think we might like it more if we give it a chance... I still want that Hawkwind record. The second store looke fantastic. The third store looked wonderfully curated. I've yet to hear something from Savoy Brown that I didn't like. Third ELO album is my favorite from them (and why are they pointing at their bellybuttons?)... Lovely shots of Maine, Steve!
dixielandfarm excellent comments Kris....right on! Mike's actually had stools to sit on in a few rows. He knew where 90% of his stock was. I told him to hold that Hawkwind after he opened it up for me, I told him a few will drool.....just a bit pricey for me. Took me 53 years to find out about Savoy and early ELO.....what a dip. yes 2nd / 3rd stores were nice.....3rd was the better priced. thanks K, Steve
I watched the video several times only to watch the interior of Mike's Music.....pffff...all those albums. Kossoff album is great Very underrated guitar player

If you ever get to Waterville, Maine, go to the Record Connection. Historic record store. The owner is great, you will love the place.
+Wayne Quirion On the way to Bangor, will do. thanks for the tip. Steve
Bob is a great guy. Ask for the good stuff that may not be on display.
Hi Steve, You passed up a Barbarians????????????? That store had some great stuff. Enjoy your vacation!
Totally great stuff.....the $ was a bit steep for me. But he had so much Around every corner. I needed to conserve the $ if you know what I mean. Steve

I hope you bought that Kraan album. Those are killer and hard to find.
I knew there was going to be a reply like yours......damn. Hope it's there next year .....and I just taped 20seconds worth......there was so much.....
I watched the video several times only to watch the interior of Mike's Music.....pffff...all those albums. Kossoff album is great Very underrated guitar player
+Uncle Harry lol....way overwhelming when you are there, takes 2-3 visits.....and Mike knew where to go when I asked him about an album.

Video is being blocked in Germany for Too Young to Go Steady - John Coltrane QuartetcSound recording.....sorry. Lessons being learned here. Steve
***** Is the lesson that Germany is awful?
dixielandfarm lol, either control freaks or they want some cash....just bizarre
Steve, always enjoy your videos...that first store was a fucking mess...funky is fine, but that was ridiculous.
anthony forchione lol, he knew where 90% of the albums were....he had his own system. I was totally lost at first....but still confusing....the great part of it is, you have absolutely no idea what you will find at any given point....thanks Steve
Marginal Way!
Lol, yes indeed you know it. Beautiful, but just NO privacy! Steve
