Whats your favorite prime lens for streetphotography? This little thing is quite good, and its 1/4 the price of its big brother the 85mm f1.4. I prefer the smaller less expensive. I also doubt anyone could tell the difference in terms of optical quality. Thoughts?
I haven't done a lot of street photography, but this is really great. The only thing I think you should do more often is to put things more to the side (rules of third), I personally use a 80D with Canon 50mm f/1.4 witch is equal to a 80mm on full-frame cameras which is perfect!
The 85mm is always a go to with me. It’s just that certain compression and appearance without needing to be right in someone’s face for the photo. I love the look of blue hour/dusk in Oslo, looks amazing. Also that staircase at the end was a dream! Great photos!
Cheers as always Carl - yeah the 85 is a really cool focal length for street. And especially for the portrait! Absolutely love it. Felt good to make a POV video as well, definitely puts the pressure on to get some nice images! Have a nice weekend buddy
Oohh I love those colors 😍. I usually shoot with a 50mm but it feels too tight sometimes so I might go for a 35mm. But I love the compression given by the longer focal lengths. Might try them as well. PS : Love your t-shirt
Great colors and composition as always. Let me ask you after going from Fuji to Sony - how are you using the AF? Single? Continuous? Moving the focus point with the joystick or touchscreen, or using lock-on tracking? What do you find works best for non-posed situations like this?
Hey Mike, thanks! Im using the single point (medium) continous, moving the focus point with the joystick. If youre thinking about the portrait, I guess I could have used an area focus, and it wouldve been fine as Sonys have great eye AF as well. But the minishoot literally lasted only a minute or so. Cool challenge that i can see myself doing more of in the future! HAve a great weekend mate
I really like this channel and also use an 85MM lens to take street pics in New York. Looking at your photos of the Oslo subway I am struck by how beautiful and clean they are. The NYC subways are disgusting, full of rats. stinky and filthy. Why is America so awful?
Hey Eric, that is awesome to hear, thank you so much! The 85 is a cool challenge for street. And to be honest, I really want to visit NYC for a street photo adventure. Maybe the filth and rats can yield some interesting images? Oslo is tiny, so maybe thats why everything is neat and clean?
@@DanielBryn The dirt and intensity of New York life provides endless possibilities for photographers. The sheer diversity of NYC is fantastic. The architecture is overwhelming and the play of light the buildings is a terrific source of inspiration.
