out of all the farmer trades, beetroot has the lowest amount per emerald trade, which is 15, meaning you only need to cure the villager 3 times for 1 emerald 1 resource, which is the most efficient. before you say emeralds are useless, you can use emeralds for 1. enchanted books like mending, 2. diamond armor, 3, golden carrots which are the best food in the game, and 4. a beacon base
The only actually use of beetroot is in a decorative farm because it's red. It adds a unique color to a field.

Yeah I always plant beetroot in my farm just so it’s complete and has more variety and color. I never harvest it tho :P
Carrots could also work if you want other color
@@user-rm1zj6lg4j Yeah, and wheat is yellow, that gives you a variety of color. But carrots and wheat aren't as bright as beetroot. Beetroot is a very bright color red, so it is very pretty.

What’s funny about beetroot soup is that it’s literally worse than beetroots hunger wise, with 6 beetroots you can get 3 hunger bars and 7.2 saturation, and the exact same with soup, but it’s unstackable. So it’s literally just a condensed unstackable version.
And you have to waste a bowl.
It just condenses the food down so you can eat quicker.

There's actually a fourth use, it is needed for the achievement of eating every edible item, u need the beetroot and the soup
But if it did not exist you dont need it for the achievement

Beetroot can also be used to breed pigs! Though of course carrots are generally grown more, stunning video!

@@KayJay513 I've only played for a couple years at most, but that is how I have always bred pigs. Carrots are more useful for other things and I never make massive farms.
Of course Oli would somehow be the only actual expert on this.
The ONE thing beetroot does well is provide color in large farms, the red pops nicely in a huge field. Other than that, you're right, there's literally nothing it does that something else doesn't do better/easier and "it looks pretty in large quantities" isn't enough to make up for that.

As an advocate for the plant itself, it's great for fields because it adds some color against the wheat and potatoes. Yes carrots are colorful too but orange is closer to brown than red so beetroot gives a better pop. (Obviously if you're color blind that's a different story) Other than that, I mean it's great for early game bone meal. You're going to be replanting as much of your other crops as possible for food and breeding, so turning the seeds and/or the beetroot itself into bone meal can be a real benefit if you don't have a skeleton farm. But yeah it's never going to be your food source
I used them for bone meal but even then, other stuff worked better
Yeah I like planting a lot of fields and beetroot just gives a nice pop of color and variety but it's definitely not a good food source
Beets were useful in my survival world when i didnt find carrots for pigs... Yup thats it
I use beetroot for emerald generation. I can use wheat, carrots and potatoes for crafting/breeding animals/my food, but beetroot is the one crop I can farm in excess and fully invest in my farmers - because its useless.

I get it, one beetroot is 0.5 hunger, 6×0,5 equals 3 hunger, so its useless to make the soup, because u need to craft the bowl.

As someone who builds with a lot of red, I like the beetroot. I tend to make big beetroot farms so I can have a large infinite supply of red dye by my base
Fun fact, if you have a rosebush you can use bonemeal on it to get more rosebushes and each Rosebush gives 2 red dye

H has gathered 10 UA-camrs here today who have also been playing the game for a very long time, and all of them agree that beetroots are, in fact, very useless.
Personally, I like making beetroot and mushroom soup a lot. Is it efficient? Not in the least. But after a long mining trip, I like to make my character sit at a table and eat soup and drink a bottle of water. (Also mushroom foraging fun!). It's little things.

In my first 1.18 world.. I spawned in a dark oak forest and survived off of mushroom stew until I could find an open area with more animals 😂

kinda if you don't have cooked chicken the soup is the same amount of hungry and saturation, the only problem it doesn't stack but beetroots do grow faster then wheat

but the big difference is
Wheat > when fully grown 1 wheat and 0 to 3 wheat seeds. A wheat crop has a total of eight stages (0-7)
Beetroot > 1 beetroot and 1-4 seeds (four stages of growth)
i can see why they did it otherwise mudrooms would be same as chicken but half the time required with wheat

The ONE thing beetroots have over other veggies is that it's the fasted growing veggie in Minecraft. Its a good early game food when you have no bonemeal and you are stuck on a desert island only surrounded by tropical fish.

Also, when stranded in a mesa biome (which really only happens when you’re doing a one biome challenge) beetroots are one of the only food sources you can find until a zombie drops a potato or carrot

May I just say, those of us who were in MCPE before Java 1.9 know the recipe for beetroot soup, because beetroots were a Pocket Edition feature long before they were a Java feature, so it was like our pride to have something the most popular version didn't have. Shout out to those of us who started with/still use MCPE and know about the pre-1.9 beetroot! :)

oh, and for those who are wondering. There is literally no benefit to making the soup. 6 beetroots fills 3 hunger bars, one beetroot soup fills 3 hunger bars. It's just a time consuming process that gives you the same outcome and probably ends up filling more space.
Maybe it gives more saturation? Has anyone tried this with appleskin yet

beetroot is actually the second best crop to use for trading to farmers as a crop because it has the least commodity-emerald ratio and grows faster than other crops. when put into rows (which increases productivity) with carrots (the best crop) you can get a lot of emeralds sustainably and automatically (automate with farmers).
It is in fact true that nobody knows about Beetroot soup. In Sapnap's recent "Eating EVERY food in Minecraft IRL" he ate literally everything EXCEPT beetroot soup.

Back in the days when I just started.
My sister had just figured out that there was a mode other than the one we always played in, one about fighting monsters, gathering materials, and... eating.
I decided to try it out! There was a strange food in the creative inventory that I had never figured out the use for, so I decided to try to figure out how to get it in survival.
After going into our world and setting myself into survival, I gave myself the things I thought would be needed.
It was much simpler than I ever could have imagined. Just 6 beetroots and a bowl, the first crafting recipe I ever learned other than the flint and steel. I then noticed how much like a regular, basic soup it looked like, and it quickly became my third favorite item, after the legendary flint and epic flint and steel.
I don't care about stats that much, only roleplay stuff.
Now, here I come, and I witness somebody with 521k subscribers completely roast my third favorite item, the first recipe I ever crafted, and second I ever learned existed.
Ouch.
This is such a strange premise that I would never expect you could make a video on it. But here it is. Good job Hbomb keeping things original

Actually, I have used beetroots myself in a useful way. Villagers trade them for emeralds at the best rates compared to other food items (excluding melons and pumpkins, but those don't occur in the same villager trading slot as the beetroot trade), so you can get a 1 for 1 trade very quickly using only a few zombie villager cures.
Beetroot soup is a one-to-one trade off. 1 beetroot is 1/2 a hunger, 6 beetroots in soup is 3 hungers (or 6 1/2 hungers). Basically the only perk of making your beetroots into soup is that you gain the hunger faster: 3 hungers at a time instead of 1/2 a hunger at a time.
Fun Fact: HBomb was invited to Dream's practice server for manhunts and one of the challenges was to craft random items one of which was beetroot soup which HBomb didn't know how to make. Thats what got the question rolling. So Dream probably would have known this too. :)

Suggestion for buffing Beetroot Soup: Make it recover all 10 hunger slots. Now it's the best food source.

When I was younger I had a goal of of making beetroot soup. I WOUKD grow the beatroots one by one and I would be so happy when I made the soup. This just gave me so much nostalgia

I would like to say, I quite proud for knowing the answer. I lived off beetroots and beetroot soup for a while in one of my old survival worlds.
Funnily enough, I make beetroot soup all the time, because when doing a one biome challenge in a Mesa, beetroots is one of the only food items you can find
I literally just left a comment also saying this. Because I did a wooded badlands plateau biome challenge and used beetroots, particularly for a build of a nether tunnel with red glass.

I love that I'm not the only person who's thought about this. Literally the food value of beetroot soup is equal to 6 beetroot and it can't be stacked. There's no benefit

Beetroot are actually quite good for villager trading; you get one or two beets per patch of beetroot and they sell for 15 for an emerald by default.
In comparison, each patch of wheat gives you one wheat and wheat sells for 20 for an emerald. Carrots are somewhat of a contender given you get 2-4 per patch and they sell for 24 for an emerald. I haven't traded or grown potatoes in forever so I don't remember how they stack up
I find it hilarious that I don't know how to craft most redstone objectss yet I know how to craft beetroot soup. It really shows how much I can dedicate to a single minecraft world.
Because you get so many beetroots per plant, you can use it as any easy source to fill the composter. Why that? If you can't find a skeleton spawner, then it's a great source of bone meal for what ever other uses you have for bone meal. Best part is, the excess seeds could be used for chicken farms or even more compost, so no extra space in storage is needed. If I decide to use them, that's the only reason. It's the best use in my opinion but they're still fairly useless
They can be good for dye since they can be grown and automated if you ever need a lot of red dye I suppose, however there is that glitch that lets you bonemeal rose bushes infinitely that is way better.
I use beetroot for technical Redstone. (because no one uses it you'll spot it easily)
no need to craft signs for filters (crafting takes time and wastes items you could otherwise use for projects)
good for testing non-stackable item filters (just craft a soup)
any of the excess can be used to make emeralds via farmer (beacon via beetroot via villager)
the composter exists great way for villagers to make bone-meal for you (load seeds if your using all beetroot for previous)
no one expects this item so it's great for pranking on a server
this item is under-rated as it does free up the carrots and potatoes so you can eat more golden carrots and baked potatoes

The only advantage beetroot soup has over regular beetroot is the eat time

Beetroots do have a good use for decorators - I find them useful for a pop of colour in gardens, greenhouses, etc.

I don't think I've ever crafted beetroot soup. but awhile ago I memorized every recipe so I still know its 6 beetroots. if only I could memorize my homework like that..
While i was playing mc whit my sister,i had an idea to make a soups shop(worst mistake in my life).so i made like 1 double chest full of mushroom soup,and 1 more chest of beetroots soup cause the closest villager that we found farms beetroots.
And till this day i wont fogret that incident cause no one even bought the soup and i throw them all at the cactus..
How To Make Beat Root Soup In 4 Minutes.
Step 1 Put Beat Root In Blender and Use It For 1 Minute
Step 2 Get Bowl Filled With Water
Step 3 Put Blended Beat Root In Bowl
Step 4 Put Bowl Of Blended Beat Root Into Microwave
Step 5 Microwave Bowl Of Blended Beat Root For 3 Minutes
The most I've used beetroot was when I did a buffet world of a Wooded Badlands Plateau world, and I needed to farm red dye for red glass for a nether tunnel I was building to the fortress. The biome doesn't have flowers but does have mineshafts that provide beetroot seeds.
So I guess there's that case.
I actually like the beetroot a lot :( I made a massive farm of it because I needed to mass produce red dye for a concrete build
The only time i use beetroots is for pig breeding bc sometimes i end up finding beetroots before carrots.
Like, it is good for simple animal farms bc you can use the excess seeds to breed chickens and use the beets breed pigs.
But id never use it for food or anything else lmao it sucks for anything else.

I had a world in Minecraft Pocket Edition back in 2013 where I farmed thousands of beetroot using a "Beetroot Sub" (submarine with beetroot growing) so I knew this immediately as 6. It was a really good food source back then with very limited world sizes, slow passive mob spawn rates (so when you killed them they were gone forever), and since cooked potatoes gave 2.5 hunger I used beetroot soup.
beetroots are even useless as dye because you could just bonemeal grass for red dye hell if you really wanted a lot of red dye just make a flower farm or even an iron farm what is even the purpose of them
