- Beloved Australian radio and television legend, John Blackman has passed away at 76-years-old. The 'Hey Hey It's Saturday' star went public with his cancer diagnosis in 2018.

Hey Hey is losing most of their greats. First it was Ernie Carroll (aka Ossie Ostrich) now John Blackman, the man of many voices. It was a wonderful show & made Sat nights fun for many. He went thru alot poor John. Only hope he finds his voice again on the other side & is reunited with Ernie. ❤

@marlenesullivan3113 Yes, all great Aussie talents all sadly gone. I was fortunate enough to meet Don at a morning show at Canterbury Hurlston Park RSL & Bert b4 he appeared in The Wizard of Oz Lyric Theatre at the Star City Casino. He was very down to earth & signed my program & I had a photo with him. He wasn't pretentious at all & was a real nice guy. He MADE Channel 9 & when he passed it was a very sad day. We have memories thank goodness but we'll never see talent like theirs again.
