I remember I had already been playing this mod for years before the master server got DDOSed back in like, 2012, and I don't think the game every quite recovered, but I also left for a while for a number of reasons. I do think the mod got worse with certain updates, the community was never that good (but coming back a few times in the past months has been pleasant), and there were external factors that kind of had me avoiding Star Wars in general for a while, but I've come full circle and have come to accept yeah, I love Star Wars. I would have pretty unambiguously said that Jedi Academy was my favorite game of all time since not long after I started learning actual mechanics in unmodded multiplayer, which was around the time the game came out actually. I still love it, and want a game that captures everything I've loved about it, but does much more.
There was a recent update that made me quit. It changed the whole UI, removed the amazing exploit of Grenade Jumping, changed the announcer to some guy whispering into the mic, etc. Not the game it used to be but I'm glad I preserved it's legacy and will cherish the good memories
