You can do. Many people use it before shampooing, they either apply it about 30 minutes to an hour before shampooing, or they apply it the night before then wash it off in the morning. I prefer to leave it on until my next wash day. I apply it 2-3 times a week, and only wash my hair once a week. The longer you leave it on your scalp the better & more effective it will be. But, all methods work. 😊❤️

As a mature woman of a certain age 😉, my fine, straight hair is thinner. I use Clairol Root Touch up to cover the gray every 5-6 weeks. What will this oil do regarding color? ...especially if used 3+ times per week? And, no, I refuse to give up and go gray. 😕
Hi Toni 😊 Well, you don’t have to go grey if you don’t want to my lovely. It’s your right! 😀 The oils considered the best for coloured/dyed hair are Coconut oil, Sesame oil, Olive Oil and Almond Oil. So you can use one of those instead of the sunflower oil. If you decide to use coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil is easier to use because it doesn’t solidify. However regular coconut oil is still fine to use if that’s your preference. The rosemary oil won’t cause the colour to fade, etc. Rosemary is known to darken greys. So if you’re colouring your hair dark, the oil could actually work in your favour. Hope that helps. 😊
@@LifestyleUnlocked Thabks so much. While we are visiting, I have one other question. What is the advantage of rosemary oil treatment vs a rosemary water solution treatment?
@@tonic3972 it’s really a matter of preference. Both are very effective, especially when used daily. The spray is absorbed quicker than the oil, but the oil stays on the scalp longer and isn’t subject to evaporation. Personally I use both. I think they complement each other. 😊❤️

Hello and welcome my lovely! ❤️ I am so happy you found my channel and you’re enjoying the videos. That means a lot to me and I really appreciate it and appreciate you. Thank you so much. You’ve made my day! Enjoy the videos and have a beautiful day. 😊❤️
Sunflower oil is highly processed. You would be better off using extra virgin olive oil. Castor oil is also a good option. I add organic green tea to mine. It helps stimulate the scalp.
@csmithc2 If I make such a version with castor oil, how much oil is in the fridge? Up to 2 weeks like rosemary water? Should such an oil always be washed off? If so, how long should you keep it before washing? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Hi dear. 😊❤️ You can apply it to your scalp 2-3 times a week. You apply, then massage your scalp with the oil for about 5-10 minutes. You don’t wash it out until your next wash day. You can also use it for hot oil treatments. Here’s a video explaining how often to use hair growth oils which you might find helpful: ua-cam.com/video/btB-6v4jJD4/v-deo.html
hi! just found your channel and thank you for such a simple to the point video :) i just harvested some rosemary from my garden and i’m so gonna try this! If you dont mind: Which preservatives do you recommend for this recipe? Thanks so much!
Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you found the video simple and helpful. A good broad spectrum preservative that works for both oil based products and water based products is one called Preservative Eco. Since this recipe is oil based but may have a tiny bit of water from the fresh rosemary leaves, that’s the preservative I would recommend. There are some paraben based preservatives as well you can use, like Phenonip, but I know many people don’t like using parabens. I hope that’s helpful. 😊 If you have lots of rosemary, you can dry some of it and then use that for an even longer shelf life. You won’t need a preservative in that case, but you’d need to infuse it for at least 2 weeks before you strain it and use it (the longer the better). 😊
Hello Symphony. 😊 Thank you so much for watching. You can use olive oil, almond oil or sunflower oil. Castor oil is ok, but any of those three are better because they penetrate the skin better. 😊🙏🙏🙏
You’re very welcome Christine. I personally mainly use it for hair growth, but rosemary can also be used to help reduce acne and dandruff, because of its anti microbial, soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. So it can also be used on the skin. 😊❤️
Hello Isha. That’s a pity you can’t get fresh rosemary. Maybe one day you can find seeds and grow some yourself. You can use dried rosemary for this recipe. But you need to leave the leaves in the oil for at least 2 weeks to get a good infusion, otherwise it will not be very potent. The longer you infuse it the better. The advantage pdf using dried rosemary is that the oil will not go rancid and last longer, for up to a year, and you don’t need to keep it in the fridge. 😊❤️
@@ishathakur1199 you’re very welcome my lovely. I hope will enjoy making and using the oil. Thank you for joining me from beautiful India! Enjoy the rest of your day my lovely. 😊❤️
Hi Anita. 😀 I am very well, thank you. I hope you are too. 😊 I’m so glad to hear you made it. I personally use it 2-3 times a week. For general hair growth and hair health, 2-3 times a week is more than adequate. You could even use it once a week as an overnight treatment if you don’t like to apply oils during the week. You would apply it to your scalp the night before wash day. However, for hair re-growth in problem areas, it’s recommended that it be applied to the scalp nightly for at least 3-6 months. So it really depends on what your goal is. I hope that helps! I’m here if you have more questions. 😊❤️
Hi Srima my dear. Penetrating oils such as olive oil (ideally extra virgin olive oil) or almond oil or grapeseed oil or jojoba oil or sunflower oil are the best for this recipe. You can choose one of them. Thank you for watching & for the blessings. God bless you too! 😊🥰❤️🙏
Hey Victoria. 😊 You’re very welcome my lovely. That’s what I use mostly nowadays. My hair loves olive oil. I hope you’ll enjoy making and using this oil. 😊❤️
(With fresh rosemary) after I take it off the heat and let it cool down, is it still okay to leave it out like that or do you put it in the fridge for overnight
Hi Bri. You can leave it out to infuse overnight at room temperature, but afterwards I take the leaves out of the oil and keep the oil in the fridge, just to be on the safe side. Rosemary is quite a dry leaf so it doesn’t have a lot of moisture/water in it, but I always say it’s better to err on the side of caution. 😊❤️
Hi Sean. If your diffuser uses diffuser oils, not just essential oils, then yes, you can use it in your diffuser. Most diffusers only use essential oils, so this oil would not be suitable. So please check the instructions on your diffuser. If you want to use the oil as a diffuser oil, you must use a very lightweight oil like almond oil or fractionated coconut oil. Don’t use regular coconut oil because it will solidify and clog up the diffuser. It would also be better to use dried rosemary leaves, not fresh leaves, to make sure your diffuser stays clean and free from things like fungus. Hope that helps. 😊
Hi Samantha please answer ASAP. As soon as i reach on your video, i immediately do as you say but after infusing i remember that i didn't crush the rosemary in the jar😢. Please advise..
Thank you Shikar. 😊 Dried rosemary is not as potent as fresh rosemary because the rosemary essential oils evaporate during the drying process. However, it’s still an excellent oil because it still has all the other properties we like it for. It’s also more convenient as it lasts much longer than fresh rosemary oil. I actually use dried rosemary most of the time and I’ve still seen amazing results. You just need to let it infuse for at least 2 weeks, like I explained in they video in this link: ua-cam.com/video/ql7dGKZ85Is/v-deo.html 😊
You can use any other penetrating oil such the examples I gave in another video which you can watch by click the link: ua-cam.com/video/X4Z8CBPfbwE/v-deo.htmlsi=VWWLyeHSxPLgLRPy 😊🙏❤️
Hello Leotrim. 😊 You can use it in any of the following ways: a) apply to scalp and hair, cover with plastic, leave for 30 minutes, then wash your hair. Or b) apply to scalp and hair before going to bed at night cover with plastic, wash your hair in the morning. Or c) apply to scalp (& hair if you want), leave for 24 hours, then wash your hair. You choose the method you prefer, but the longer you leave it on your scalp the better. You’ll get better results. You can also make a rosemary and mint oil which lasts longer, using dried rosemary. You can leave the rosemary and mint oil on your scalp for up to one week. Here is the link to the video on how to make a rosemary and mint oil: ua-cam.com/video/ql7dGKZ85Is/v-deo.html
Hi Nazanin. 😊 I used sunflower oil, but you can use any other oil of your choice. Good alternatives are olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, Argan oil, etc. 😊
Hi Pankaj. I have a video explaining how to get the best results with oils here: ua-cam.com/video/btB-6v4jJD4/v-deo.html It’s safe enough to apply every day, but it’s not always necessary. You’ll get more information in the video I’ve link above. 😊❤️
Hi Jeanette. 😊 I would personally refrain from using rosemary oil on small children. There’s not enough research on the use of rosemary oil on small children therefore there’s not enough data to say whether it’s safe to use on small children. I would wait until the child is much older to use rosemary oil. In the meantime, you can use other oils that have been studied and found to be safe and effective for use with children over the age of 3. These include lavender, peppermint, citrus, such as sweet orange or mandarin, and ginger. You can either infuse oils yourself or mix a couple of drops of the respective essential into a carrier oil like coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil or jojoba oil, taking any allergies into consideration. Hope that helps. 😊❤️
Hi Mark. You can leave the leaves in, but the oil goes off quicker if you leave them in because they are fresh. You can leave them in if they are dried leaves, like I did in this video: ua-cam.com/video/qDXcLeYjtow/v-deo.html
Hi Eugene. 😊 You can use it as a scalp emollient whereby you just massage a small amount into your scalp and leave it on until the next time you wash your hair. You can also use it for scalp massages or for pre-wash or post-wash hot oil treatments (whichever you prefer). If your hair is very dry, you can also mix a small amount with your conditioner or deep conditioner (just the amount of conditioner/deep conditioner you’re going to use on that occasion - don’t pour it into the whole tub because it has a short shelf life and will reduce the shelf life of your conditioner). So it’s very versatile. 😊❤️
Hey Alice. You’re very welcome and thank YOU my lovely. Yes, you can blend the rosemary. You can blend it with the oil so that you get as much from the rosemary as possible. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend. 😊❤️
You’re very welcome Steph. It will last up to 2 weeks, because you use fresh rosemary leaves. If you want it to last longer, first dry the leaves completely, or buy dried rosemary. Here’s a video with a tutorial on how to use dried rosemary to make an oil: ua-cam.com/video/ql7dGKZ85Is/v-deo.html In this recipe I added mint but you can leave it out and just use rosemary. This method makes an oil that lasts up 18-24 months. 😊
@@TheMelodicMess here’s a good one: amzn.to/3T2Ylsv Not all preservatives work with oils. The one I’ve link is good for oils and other oily products. 😊

@@LifestyleUnlocked that was very helpful, thank you very much.
thank you, will make this today
You’re so welcome Henrietta my lovely. This is one of my absolute favourites. Have fun! 😊❤️

Hi Bobotheko. If you want to, yes, you can. 😊🙏
Thank you i'll try this
You’re very welcome. 😀 Thank you for trying it! Have a great week. 😀
You have to wash your hair fast or you use after putting rosmary into your scalp
Hi Samantha please answer ASAP. As soon as i reach on your video, i immediately do as you say but after infusing i remember that i didn't crush the rosemary in the jar😢. Please advise..
Hello my dear. That’s not a problem at all. It will still work fine. Please don’t worry. 😊❤️🥰
Very good , is dried rosemary oil of a lesser quality?
Thank you Shikar. 😊 Dried rosemary is not as potent as fresh rosemary because the rosemary essential oils evaporate during the drying process. However, it’s still an excellent oil because it still has all the other properties we like it for. It’s also more convenient as it lasts much longer than fresh rosemary oil. I actually use dried rosemary most of the time and I’ve still seen amazing results. You just need to let it infuse for at least 2 weeks, like I explained in they video in this link: ua-cam.com/video/ql7dGKZ85Is/v-deo.html 😊
When you put your scalp you can rinse out
What other oil that we can use?
You can use any other penetrating oil such the examples I gave in another video which you can watch by click the link: ua-cam.com/video/X4Z8CBPfbwE/v-deo.htmlsi=VWWLyeHSxPLgLRPy 😊🙏❤️
Hello , i saw this an i try it .Im 15 yo boy .When i end doing this ,where im supposed to put it for 24H?
Hello Leotrim. 😊 You can use it in any of the following ways:
a) apply to scalp and hair, cover with plastic, leave for 30 minutes, then wash your hair.
Hi🤗 thanks so much for sharing this helpful video!
Hello gorgeous! 🤗 You’re very welcome and thank YOU for watching and for the amazing feedback. I really appreciate it. Have a lovely weekend. 😊❤️x
Which oil you used
Hi Nazanin. 😊 I used sunflower oil, but you can use any other oil of your choice. Good alternatives are olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, Argan oil, etc. 😊
How often in a week should the oil be used. How long should it be left on the scalp?
Hi Pankaj. I have a video explaining how to get the best results with oils here: ua-cam.com/video/btB-6v4jJD4/v-deo.html
It’s safe enough to apply every day, but it’s not always necessary. You’ll get more information in the video I’ve link above. 😊❤️
Can you use this with crochet braids
Hi Elaine. Yes my lovely, you certainly can. 😊❤️
Is the oil ok for use on small children!
Thank you 💚
You’re very welcome, Beverley my lovely! Thank you for watching and engaging. Have an awesome week! 😊💚💚

Hi ,is it okay to mix Thyme with Rosemary and do the same process for extracting the oil
Hi Magjistari 😊 Yes, you can mix Thyme and Rosemary and do the same process. Have an amazing day. 😊❤️
can i leave the leaves it there does it have to be strained ?
Hi Mark. You can leave the leaves in, but the oil goes off quicker if you leave them in because they are fresh. You can leave them in if they are dried leaves, like I did in this video: ua-cam.com/video/qDXcLeYjtow/v-deo.html
Thanks a lot!
You’re very welcome Suha! 😊❤️
So now that I’ve made it how do I use it???
Firstly, she said to leave in
Next any oil of your choice but she's using sunflower...hello please rewatch the video... happy hair day everyone
Can i use castor oil?
Hello there. Yes, you can use castor oil. It works beautifully. 😊❤️
I have dry rosemary leaves can I grow it, just the the dry leaves
Hi Nellie. Unfortunately you can’t grow Rosemary from just the dry leaves. You need either the seeds or a sprig of rosemary in order to grow it. 😊
Wow thank you for sharing. Can I blend the rosemary in a blender if I don’t have a crusher?
Hey Alice. You’re very welcome and thank YOU my lovely. Yes, you can blend the rosemary. You can blend it with the oil so that you get as much from the rosemary as possible. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend. 😊❤️
If your using mielle shampoo
Can I mix rosemary and mint leafs?
Hi LaTricia. Yes, absolutely. I love to mix them, like I did in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ql7dGKZ85Is/v-deo.html
They work so well together. 😊❤️
CAn i use jojoba oil?
Hi Steph. Yes, absolutely. You can use jojoba oil. I usually use sunflower oil or olive oil, but jojoba oil will work just as well. 😊
@@LifestyleUnlocked thank you! Then when its done how much does the oil last?
You’re very welcome Steph. It will last up to 2 weeks, because you use fresh rosemary leaves. If you want it to last longer, first dry the leaves completely, or buy dried rosemary. Here’s a video with a tutorial on how to use dried rosemary to make an oil: ua-cam.com/video/ql7dGKZ85Is/v-deo.html
In this recipe I added mint but you can leave it out and just use rosemary. This method makes an oil that lasts up 18-24 months. 😊
What is a suggested preservative to add to fresh rosemary oil?
@@TheMelodicMess here’s a good one: amzn.to/3T2Ylsv
Not all preservatives work with oils. The one I’ve link is good for oils and other oily products. 😊
Hi can I use canola oil?
