Saw Soft Machine two days ago, John is a lovely guy and an excellent guitarist, hung around afterward to talk to whoever wanted to, and Soft Machine were as usual a joy to behold. Lots of Soft Machine 7 which is a particular favourite of mine, as well as newer stuff.
Huge fan of John for many years, absolutely loved "Wolf". I was lucky enough to see him play live only once but it was very special, he was playing with the legendary violinist Stephane Grappelli and I got to meet them both after the show, what an experience!
This guy is just a monster player. I love this from his wiki: "Etheridge began playing at 13, his early influences being Hank Marvin of The Shadows and Django Reinhardt." Doesn't that say it all?! So many influences can be detected in his playing and all seamlessly added like a great chef adding a dash of this and a touch of that. Thanks for the video!
He makes it look so easy, I saw him recently at the 606 club London, his tone and playing were superb, and at one stage he did a calypso style song, and made the guitar sound like a steel drum.
Amp envy. Two-Rock is on the list of "My wife will kill me, but I'm eventually getting one anyway. I'll just sleep on the couch for a couple weeks" list.

Wonderful - could have happily listened to John for another hour.
Great player! I love his delight at the sounds from the B9 Organ peddle.
Nice guy and excellent guitar player!

Yep been there, but sometimes you just have to. They always come round.
Hi John, My name is Joe Etheridge. Maybe I'm your long lost American cousin. Love your video. I'd love to see more.
Josh Bull is my pseudonym. Just use that to be incognito.
Today's guitarists sounds so SHRILL compared to earlier decades. I think the digital medium is the culprit.

Amazing player, but I don't like the tones on the bridgepickup at the beginning of the video. A little too harsh en undefined imo.
Very informative. Please lay off the smoking and play another 30 years.
