I just loved they're music from the first time I heard them on John Peel. I loved it when I was 17 and still when I'm 70. Thank you John, without you I would have never known. You are sorely missed.

Music from another world, love Robert ' s drumming, but everybody else ...they are all masters with their own instrument

Thanks! Their sound was unique, this takes me back to those days when I was a young teen drummer discovering Soft Machine, Magic Mole, Caravan, National Health, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Van Der Graf Generator, Weather Report, Gentle Giant, PFM, King Crimson, Yes, Return To Forever, and I thought progressive fusion would prevail, but then Disco happened!

Bless John Peel. I love the Softs, especially the pre-1970s, but I can't fault Elton Dean's saxo talents.
Thanks for this well mixed gem.

Me too. I really like the band with Kevin Ayers the best, but Third with Elton Dean and Hugh H is really good. Some of their cuts remind me a bit of the best Mothers' work.

Utterly magnificent - Softs Third is unspeakably wonderful. Saw this line-up at the Colston Hall circa 1971. With Mahavishnu, a peerless band. Thnx for posting.
